America's Got Talent 2008 - Episode #3

Dallas, TX

Corky Duke - Country-Western Line Dancer - Nope. Piers: A complete and utter waste of time. Sharon: Reminded her of Jed Clampitt when he stuck oil.

A trio: Pretty Lady; a Horseshoer - Twirls lariot; A lady who played a blue guitar; a hula-hooper; a ballroom dance teacher playing his hands?; - NONE going.

And now, Holly Hardin, 19yo from Georgia, works at Radio Shack - Country Music singer - These Boots are Made for Walkin'. Great personality. Sharon thought her singing was off. Piers liked her singing. David - would be great for a sitcom, great personality, adorable. She said, "Give me a chance!" and... COMMERCIAL!

Return - They asked what she'd do next time. She said Tammy or Dollie. They asked her to do a bit of Dolly Parton. She did (and better than her original song). They asked why she didn't do THAT song first. Piers - Yes. David - Yes. Sharon - Yes. - She's in. Vegas, here she comes.

Duo Genisis. Guy does a handstand on HER back. They do acrobatic posing. And THEY are in.

Now a kid. 11yo. Plays piano. Lewis Warner(?) - Great job. All vote yes.

The Shaaolin Warriers - Martial arts dance - The finale: A guy is lifted to two spears at his shoulders, and they release him. Yes, they're in.

And time for another commercial. Still in Dallas.

Dance troup - Beyond Belief - 22 dancers, 12-17yo. Justin (choreographer) has worked with some since they were 5 years old. They dance to Fashionista (I think). Quick song, and look GOOD! Piers - Bad news: outfits are horrendous, make up is worse. Good news - Terrific little dancers. Sharon: Love the whole thing... One guy and all the girls... David: Agree with Piers - New costumes, but they will go to Vegas. Many are VERY emotional about it. Piers - The makings of being real stars.

Commercial

Now comes a lady with a pig - Fran Martin & Smithfield - Pig paints. (You're kidding!) Piers: Could perform a more useful exercise at my bacon sandwich. - NO! TG!

Diana Ross - Animal Trainer with Twinkle (a dog) - Attempted dance - 2 days training - Nope ... Sean Paul w/wife Julianne and monkey - nope ... Another dog act - nope.

Now, Paul West and Tucker (a dog) - Acrobatic Canine Disk (Frisbee) routine. Dog does flips, jumps, etc. David accidentally hit buzzer, and apologizes. And Yes all the way around. Good act.

Commercial

Paul Salos - Frank Sinatra stylist w/tux and hat - 71yo, 72 in September. Been doing the act for 40 years. Fly Me to the Moon. Sounds a LOT like Sinatra. (Said he studied Sinatra for 9 years before he even started.) David and Sharon dance near the end. Audience is behind him. Piers said he has him down cold. Sharon - Smooth as velvet. David closed his eyes and heard Sinatra. And he's in. EXCELLENT.

And that's the end of the Dallas auditions. Commercial - and move to Chicago.

Junior and Emily, brother and sister - Dancers from San Fransisco - He's 22, she's 18... Danced together for 9 years. Dance teachers - Dance to a fast Hispanic beat/song - Crowd loves them. David: Nailed it... Good job. Sharon: Fab. Piers: "Best dance act we've seen so far. And I think you have a very good chance." They're in.

Zane and Stephanie, Husband/wife team. Dated 3 months and KNEW they'd get married. They sing. Married 2 years ago. Theme from Ghost - I Need Your Love. Audience is well against them. (Hokey). Piers: Cheesiest thing I've ever seen. David: Nice, smiley and yellow. (They are wearing yellow clothes.) Sharon: Strong voices, but together, they're TOO nice and dated. Nope.

Commerical.

Time for George the Giant. This would show his wife to have faith and it's ok to have faith in the dreamer. 7'-3" tall. Gets a volunteer. Says his act is based on childhood experiences.) Twists a clear hose around a girl (Twisty straw), then runs it through his nose into his mouth, and drinks some milk through it. (Sideshow) Then he sets off a batch of firecrackers on his chest. Piers: Disturbing. His wife comes out, and comes up to his stomach! Piers: Captivating and strange... Yes, though he "X"ed him. Sharon: No. David: Yes. He's in. George had said the choice was to play basketball or be a freak and he HATES sports. LOL

Commercial (MAN, they must have to get the money to pay for everything here!)

Jessica Price - 24yo - Looks younger. Sings "I Can't Make You Love Me". EXCELLENT. A bit tentative, but she sang GREAT! Wants to stand as a role model for young women - Not like Britteny or Lindsay. She did a great job, but was scared to death. And she's in. Her parents divorced and her father is not in her life (died?). She wants him to be proud of her. I think he would be. Great job.

Commerical... And now they're in Atlanta.

18yo Allister "Smokey" McQueen - Dressed as a nerd with glasses, etc. Opens a book, and strips! OMG! Piers: You need the right equipment. Commends him for his bravery. Sharon: Doesn't think it's mass-appeal for America. David: EAT! You are Jenny Craig gone bad. Nope! TG!

Cobern Hartzell - He strips and belly dances. Gravity plays favorites - Pole dancing. David: Looked like two donuts attacking each other. A girl who lights her boobs. Male strippers. Nope. Busty Heart/Hart. HUGE chest. (Think she's the one who crushes beer cans with her boobs in some of the videos I've seen on YouTube.) She crushes objects using her breasts. A 12-pack. No. David: If she was on Baywatch, they'd be on another 11 years. Nope.

Commercial

Clogging group - The Southern Belles, from Atlanta. Four girls, been together for 10 years. Ages 15-31. Great job... All in unison, which few have done. Piers: THE best audition we've seen today. David: Attitude is everything. And they're IN.

50yo Dan Myer, from Harzell, Alabama. One of the last of the few Sword Swallowers left today. Did a good job, and Hoff buzzed him when he had a sword swallowed, and it surprised him. David: Scary and not sure how he will sustain it. Sharon: Yes. David: No. Piers: Yes. He's in.

Commercial

9yo David Millitelo(?) - Diagnosed with autism. He was silent for the first 3 years of his life. Then the bus driver said he would sing all the way to and from school. (He was singing before he said "Mom".) He LOVES performing. He sings "Ben". (Jackson Five is his favorite artist.) (Kinda dangerous having him out there... If they say "no" (or when) he MIGHT have a reaction to it.) David: You just won the hearts of American, you know that? And now the vote: David: Absolutely, yes. Sharon: Definitely, Yes. Piers: Have you ever been to Las Vegas? (No) Well guess what? You're going now. (Mom was offstage crying as he sang it.)

And, that's it.

Good show, except for the commercials. Seems they're coming a LOT faster and more furious than ever before. Choices this week? Paul Salos, Junior and Emily, Jessica Price, The Southern Belles, and David Millitelo(?)
