America's Got Talent 2008 - Finale Results

Thought this was going to be a half-hour show, but it's an hour.

Here are all the NBC videos. Click on "Newest" on the left, and you will see the videos I've included links to, below.
Winner gets $1,000,000. And a show in Vegas. Jerry, Terry Fator, and the favorite acts from the show will be there. October 17.

Top 5 reminder: (All videos from 09/24/2008 show)
Nuttin But Strings, Donald Braswell, Neal E Boyd, Eli Mattson, Queen Emily.

Jerry hosted, and asked the judges before they commented. His questions are in parens.

David: (Can you see a clear winner in this group?) I cannot pick the winner. Every single one of you can play Las Vegas. Any one of you can win tonight. Congratulations.

The Top 10 perform together: Kaitlyn Maher, The Wright Kids, Paul Salos, Jessica Price, and Joseph Hall. And Nuttin But Strings, Donald Braswell, Neal E Boyd, Eli Mattson, and Queen Emily. "A Moment Like This". (Standing Ovation... David was teary-eyed. Kaitlyn sang the last line.

Sharon: (What did you think?) Yes, we know there's only one winner of this show, but all of them are going to go on, and have amazing careers in the entertainment business.

Leona Lewis (MySpace) sang her new song, "Better in Time".

(Everybody wants their favorite to win.) Il Divo ("Mama") for Neal E Boyd, Brian McKnight for Queen Emily, Marc Cohn ("Walkin' in Memphis") for Eli Mattson, Andrew Lloyd Webber (from Phantom) for Donald Braswell, Wyclef Jean for Nuttin But Strings. ALL say they would like to work with them, win or lose. Of course, all the acts are blown away.

Audition All-Stars ("The wildest and wackiest performances of all time"). Queen's "Don't Stop Me Now". A lot of the impersonators, and strange acts. TOO many and too quick to list them here. Maybe the video will show up on NBC or YouTube (see last week's blog post for those links).

Review of the show through the season. Quick clips of the acts throughout. (Fun look back!)

(I'm amazed at the ones that were picked as they left... But I know someone has to win. Told you it was gonna be hard to choose.)

They showed highlights of each act's run through the series as they left the show.

Fifth Place: Queen Emily.
She would like the thank America for supporting her and voting for her.

Fourth Place: Donald Braswell.
(You were the act that the fans brought back.) To all who brought me back, God Bless all of you. You've given me and my family some incredible memories.

Third Place: Nuttin But Strings.
Standing Ovation, including the judges.
(You guys are so talented.) We made violin cool again. Nuttin But Strings is about passion.

Down to Neal E Boyd and Eli Mattson.

Neal: Winning would change my life. I didn't think I'd make this far. I didn't think they'd respond to opera, but they have. I thank you.
Eli: It means I can take care of my family. No matter how it goes, Dude.

Review of Neal E Boyd's journey through the show (inset of Neal crying watching it all).
Then Eli Mattson's Journey. (He's emotional, too.)

Closest result we've ever had, with less than 1/2 of one percent between the two.

Winner is: NEAL E BOYD. (WOW! AMAZING!) VERY cool! He's crying. "I love you mom. I love you Missouri." Surprise: Message from a musical hero Placido Domingo. You have brought to America's ears, Opera. I'm sure that from today on, you are starting a new career. Neal: Thank you America.

Neal sings: Nessun Dorma. (He was very choked up.)

End of Show.

All Pre-performance Videos and critiques by the judges are paraphrased. I'm decent at typing, but can't type THAT fast! ;-)

All performance videos, below, are from NBC

**

Nuttin But Strings
09/17/2008 - http://www.nbc.com/Americas_Got_Talent/video/clips/nuttin-but-stringz-91708/665721/
Pre-performance video: Performing one of the greatest songs they ever composed. Gotta perform tonight like they're performing in Vegas.
Performance: Their own song. Same as once before, at least. Full act behind them, fireworks, smoke, etc.
Critique: Standing Ovation from everyone, including the judges. Piers: What a start. I hope the President is still watching the show. There may be a lot going on in the country, but there's nothing wrong with a country that can take two guys from the subways, and bring them here. Unless I'm wrong, and one of the singers really pulls out all stops, I'm looking at the winners. Sharon: Every time you've played, you've done your own. How many do you have. (A LOT). I'll say what Piers said, but double it. David: I'll make it short: NUTTIN BUT VEGAS!
(It was one of the songs they've done more than once, but with a stage act behind them - Hanging from the "ceiling". They rapped a bit and got the audience into it. Excellent.)

Donald Braswell
09/17/2008 - http://www.nbc.com/Americas_Got_Talent/video/clips/donald-braswell-91708/665781/
Pre-performance video: Being in the finals means it's no longer a dream. The dream is here. I have a shot of winning a headline show in Vegas. I'm so close to my dream right now, I'm gonna fight for this. I'm gonna win this.
Performance: "You Raise Me Up". Fireworks and background choirs. He went high on some notes. Great!
Critique: Sharon: Alright, very nice song. Nice. I have to keep using that word. Nice voice, nice guy, you look nice. I just don't think your personality is as great as your voice. I think you should be in musical theater, where you can be someone else. David: I disagree. You did a fantastic job tonight. Piers: I wasn't sure about the last note. It may have been a little over the top, but I think you've done yourself proud, proving the judges wrong and America right.
(He did a wonderful job, and showed he has POWERFUL high notes that even Josh Groban didn't hit on his version. I'm afraid he's not going to make it. Even so, he should NOW have a full career in music.)

Neal E Boyd
09/17/2008 - http://www.nbc.com/Americas_Got_Talent/video/clips/neal-e-boyd-91708/665722/
Pre-performance video: Every time I go out on that stage, I sing with every bit of my heart, and try to move people. Tonight is my last chance. I've waiting my whole life to be on that stage. I won't hold back.
Performance: Opera. (I don't know the song. Nessun Dorma. (Same as first night.)
Critique: Standing Ovation. David: This is the end of the show. I am honored to be on this journey with you. Win or lose, you will go far. Piers: Find myself in a strange and uncomfortable position. I totally and completely agree with David. Sharon: You bring people together. I've heard that song done by so many people, but never as beautifully as you just did it.
(Wonderful. This guy is fantastic at opera, especially this song. I know he can do others like it. I'm not sure if Vegas is ready for Opera, but my wife said, what about Pavaratti? Well, there is that!)

Eli Mattson
09/17/2008 - http://www.nbc.com/Americas_Got_Talent/video/clips/eli-mattson-91708/665061/
Pre-performance video: This is my last chance. I'm going to perform with every part of my soul. If I don't, it's over. And I don't want to think about that.
Performance: "Against the Odds". No hat!
Critique: Standing Ovation. Piers: The thing I like about you most is you can take all these classic songs and with your voice, made them your own. The song was "Against The Odds". I think the odds just got shorter. Sharon: Such a tough competition this year. You have got a great voice. You're a great musician. Good-looking, and you're young. I think you would be a great winner to represent not just this show. David: I said in the interview you were the dark horse. The song was "Take a Look At Me Now". You go back and say "Take a Look At Me NOW!"
(Great job. Of course, all are. He's got a great style. He would do well in Vegas, even if he doesn't win.)

Queen Emily
09/17/2008 - http://www.nbc.com/Americas_Got_Talent/video/clips/queen-emily-91708/665062/
Pre-performance video: After 25 years, you begin to give up. I'm so glad I didn't. And look at me now. I'm in the Top 5. I have to do everything I can to win this competition. My whole life has lead me here. This is my destiny.
Performance: "One Moment in Time".
Critique: Standing Ovation. Piers: You look like a queen. It was by far your best performance of this competition. I think you're gonna struggle to win against Nuttin But Strings, but you gave it your best shot. Sharon: You are a diva. And every time your confidence shows through. It makes the audience relax. David: You look more like a princess to me. Tonight was fantastic. Your whole run was fantastic. Whether you win or not, you're ahead of the game. You're gonna have an amazing career.
(Fantastic. She took the stage. Great job. A bit rough on the really high notes, but WOW!)

These people are ALL greatI hope they all make CDs, at least! Again, this whole group NEEDS to be involved in show-biz!

Season Finale next week. Winner announced. Then October 17th ... In Vegas.

Wife: Neal E Boyd (5) and Queen Emily (5)
Me: WOW! Thought seriously of voting (2) for each, but that's not voting, is it? DAMN! Nuttin But Strings (5) and Neal E Boyd (5). Opera or not. This guy is GOOD!
(I HATE not having more votes. Donald, Eli and Emily ALL deserve to win, too!) :-(

America's Got Talent 2008 - 09/18/2008

Final Five Show. Next week is the Finals.

Results from last night's show, revealing the Final Five from Paul Salos, Kaitlyn Maher, Donald Braswell, Jessica Price, Joseph Hall, Neal E Boyd, The Wright Kids, Queen Emily, Nuttin But Stringz, Eli Mattson.

As before on the results shows, they've pulled a pair down to the stage front, and told us which of those two go on. In some cases, you know... In others, it's a big question mark. And they HAVE fooled us before, by saying BOTH go on, or BOTH go home (same show).

America's Got Talent 2008 - 09/17/2008

Top 10 Show... Next will be Top 5.

Tonight: Paul Salos, Kaitlyn Maher, Donald Braswell, Jessica Price, Joseph Hall, Neal E Boyd, The Wright Kids, Queen Emily, Nuttin But Stringz, Eli Mattson.

Here's the page with the beginning of the videos from NBC http://www.nbc.com/Americas_Got_Talent/video/categories/season-3-highlights/35415/. The ones below are from this page tonight. Many of the other acts have videos there. Here are the two-minute replays of the shows (9/11 is the last one, tonight) - http://www.nbc.com/Americas_Got_Talent/video/categories/two-minute-replays/35417/. As I said... The videos, tonight, are all from NBC, and listed in their "newest". I didn't double-check to make sure they were last week's show.

Heros week. All are dedicating their performances to those who inspired them.

It's gonna be tough to choose a Top 5 tonight. They are all good. We're going to have to base it on performance tonight, whether they can sustain an hour-and-a-half show in Vegas, and whether they are a million dollar act. (Yes... I typed this after Piers' comment to Paul Salos... I hate it, but he's right.)

Paul Salos (Sinatra impersonator)
http://www.nbc.com/Americas_Got_Talent/video/clips/paul-salos/642121/
Pre-performance video: Ex-Pilot. Frank Sinatra has been an inspiration throughout his life. Singing "New York, New York". Failure is not an option. Not here to compete, but to win.
Performance: "New York, New York" Good job... Sounded like the "older" Frank. Piers buzzed early.
Critique: Piers: How's it feel to be in the Top 10? (Great). I think you've done Sinatra proud. I asked myself if you're a million dollar act. I think you're a million dollar guy, but not a million dollar act. Sharon: Thank God it's not up to Piers. It's up to the American Public whether they put you through or not. David: Very difficult song and you nailed it.
(Vegas should be calling him, even if he doesn't win!)

Kaitlyn Maher
http://www.nbc.com/Americas_Got_Talent/video/clips/kaitlyn-maher/646881/
Four-year-old. Singing for her Daddy, because it always puts a smile on his face. Her Dad's her hero... She loves him so much.
Performance: "I'll Be There" She didn't miss a word!
Critique: Piers: For 4yo and to remember all the words, it's amazing. Not going to criticize you, but I don't think it would be fair to put you on a Vegas stage. Sharon: Loved the song choice. Well done. David: I'm happy to have been on this journey with you. I'm so happy whenever I see you. And you know what? You're only four. You can come back for the next 70 years.
(She's great and cute as hell, but I really don't think she'd be able to do an hour-and-a-half show in Vegas! She was a bit shaky tonight... Didn't miss a beat, but...)

Donald Braswell
http://www.nbc.com/Americas_Got_Talent/video/clips/donald-braswell/646841/
Pre-performance video: To be in the Top 10 right now is unbelievable. I called my wife. Riding bike and was sideswiped. Doctors said he'd probably not sing again. I believe you have to keep driving and fighting. Now that I've got my voice back, I want to take it all the way. Wife is his hero.
Performance: "To Where You Are". Beautifully done.
Critique: Piers: Your popularity with the audience is extraordinary. There are lots of great singers tonight - They've outdone the variety acts. I'm just not sure that you are as good as some of the others. I'm just not sure. I ask myself if I'd buy your album or pay for your show, and I'm just not sure. Sharon: You look very sexy in those clothes. You are just fabulous at singing those romantic songs. David: I love your story, and I love that you keep coming back. I'd buy your album.
(He's in, I'm sure. ANYONE who like Josh Groban HAS to like him. He's right for a Vegas show, and Sharon's right. I'm sure my wife will vote for him! I probably will too, unless something major happens. My wife hopes he puts out an album, even if he doesn't make it.)

Jessica Price
http://www.nbc.com/Americas_Got_Talent/video/clips/jessica-price/642081/
Pre-performance video: Jerry: Just a few weeks ago, was working on an assembly line in a factory. Her mother is her angel. She has always told her to follow her dreams, even if she (Jessica) felt she couldn't any more. If it weren't for her mother, she wouldn't be here.
Performance: "In the Arms of an Angel" Standing Ovation, including David. Deservedly so.
Critique: Piers: Every time I've seen you, there's been somthing missing. But you've listened to us... I got it all tonight. Finally. Sharon: Sarah McGlocklin, if she's watching, would love it. You've finally found a style for you that fits. You did that song such justice tonight. You're finding yourself musically. David: You did it. You sang that song as good as anybody. You could win this competition. (David was crying through most of the song. As was her mother.)
(Wonderful. She should make it through, on the basis of this song, alone. We'll see.)

Joseph Hall (Elvis impersonator)
http://www.nbc.com/Americas_Got_Talent/video/clips/joseph-hall/646901/
Pre-performance video: Started with thousands of people, and it's down to 10, and I'm part of that top 10. Elvis, of course, is his hero. He's doing a song, to pay tribute to Elvis, and Elvis never did the song.
Performance: "A Little Less Conversation", the remix. He's got the looks, all the moves, and sounded VERY good, tonight. Words were a BIT hard to hear, but... Audience was on their feet, and the girls were all screaming throughout.
Critique: Piers: Judging you purely on your singing tonight, that was terrible. HOWEVER, on a positive note, there is something about you that is incredibly entertaining. You have the moves, the looks, the sex-appeal. If you just had the voice, you'd have it all. Sharon: Couldn't hear the whole song, because everyone was screaming. Definitely getting more confidence. It's fun. David: I don't know what Piers is smoking. You're absolutely on your game, your attitude is on it.
(Yep... He's got the look, the moves, the attitude, and MUCH of the time, the voice. He's good.)

Neal E Boyd
http://www.nbc.com/Americas_Got_Talent/video/clips/neal-e-boyd/642082/
Pre-performance video: A chance encounter in a school corridor introduced him to his hero. Always the fat kid. Been lucky enough to have people in his life to inspire him. Heard him singing Pavarati in the corridor, asked him to audition for the choir, and when he started singing, people stopped teasing him. Taking a chance... Popular song with an operatic twist to it.
Performance: "All By Myself" Audience was quiet until he hit high notes. Then the place erupted.
Critique: Piers: Song was a big risk. Like watching a volcano. Nothing much was happening, then BAM. BUT... I'll tell you this. You're gonna come back next week. No doubt in my mind. Sharon: When you first started, I though "Oh dear, what did he do", but when he got to the chorus, she got goosebumps. When she hears the voice and the power... David: When he kicked it into high gear. I wouldn't buy insurance against you losing this competition, because right now, you're the front-runner.
(I thought, even when it was the slow part, he did well. The thing was, it was this one was too long before he kicked in his voice. He should make it through, though. The audience LOVED it when he hit those power notes and he went higher. I think the problem was that there were two verses before the refrain, and it's a slow song. Piers said that women do that song. Then why did Eric Carmen make it a hit? I've not heard anyone else do that! Celine Dion does it, but...)

The Wright Kids
http://www.nbc.com/Americas_Got_Talent/video/clips/the-wright-kids/642021/
Pre-performance video: Love the Jackson Five because they're a family group like us. Hero is their music teacher. She's really nice. We want to go out there and make her proud.
Performance: "ABC" Audience standing and clapping throughout.
Critique: Piers: Look, I love you three. I have three kids, myself. If they got up in front of 23 millions americans I'd be so proud. It's gonna be tough to get through to the top 5. Sharon: When I heard you were doing this song, I thought "Oh no", but playing the instruments yourself took over for the dancing. Good job. David: I love you guys. I thought last week was better than this week, but look at how far you GOT. You have a long career ahead of you, because you obviously have talent.
(I think the song selection was wrong for tonight. They did great, but if they'd have done something with more harmonies, and more ... action, I think they'd have made it through. As it is, I don't think they'll make it. Sorry, guys. You're great, but...)

Queen Emily
http://www.nbc.com/Americas_Got_Talent/video/clips/queen-emily/642025/
Pre-performance video: Inspired by Jennifer Holliday (who originated on Broadway). Saw her in church when she was 10 years old. Song is for her grandmother. When she was passing on, she told her to believe in herself. She will sing her heart out to make it to the top five.
Performance: "And I Am Telling You" Standing Ovation, including all judges.
Critique: Piers: Your grandmother was right about you. You are somebody special. There's always a moment when someone comes out and rips the stage apart, and you just did it. Sharon: There are a lot of people who have brought many talents. You have a sensational voice. You have stage presence. I can see you entertaining an audience in Vegas. David: In the beginning I said we need to see the money players. You hit it out of the park. I'm coming to see your show in Vegas whether you win or not. (Jerry - Is it crossing your mind that you might win? Queen - That's ALL I've been thinking about.)
(Excellent. She's through for sure.

Nuttin But Stringz
http://www.nbc.com/Americas_Got_Talent/video/clips/nuttin-but-stringz/646861/
Pre-performance video: Mom is their hero. Single mother kept them on the right road. She bought them their first violins. The first time they played this song was in their basement. When they played it for their mother, she cried. The risk is, they created the song.
Performance: "Winner" Nice song. "Dream Big" they said at the end.
Critique: You're the only non-singing act left. But if I asked myself one question, "which would I pay to see in Vegas", it's you two, every time. Sharon: I love this song. Just when you think someone comes along, they've got it in the bag, someone else comes along. (All their songs are original music.) There's no stopping you, you're so versitile. I want to say one thing, I want to meet your mum, because she did one helluva job. David: Every time you come out, you're fresh. We'll see you in the finals. Count on it!
(They are great. They took a chance, it wasn't quite as ... volitile ... as other songs they've done, but it was excellent. MAN it's getting hard to choose five!)

Eli Mattson
http://www.nbc.com/Americas_Got_Talent/video/clips/eli-mattson/646842/
Pre-performance video: Dreams of matching the success of his hero. Honestly thought he could do the song a little better. Biggest hero is Elton John. Saw him when he was 12 years old. EJ is just Royalty on the piano. Watching him, I thought, in my head, that's what I want to do. (Sharon: Gotta be careful not to do an impersonation of Elton John.)
Performance: "Sorry Seems to Be the Hardest Word" Good job. Hard to do a song like that and NOT sound like Elton John.
Critique: Piers: It felt pretty great. I felt last week you held back a bit. Forget the singing for a moment. The piano playing was excellent. If Elton gets a cold, he's calling you. Sharon: I've got some good news... Elton IS watching tonight. Fantastic. Such a tough contest. I just hopes everyone picks up the phones and votes. David: I was thinking, "Oh man, he's got to follow all those players." Tonight, you nailed it. You threw this competition into disarray. Look in the mirror, and say "Yeah, baby, I DID it!"

As Piers said during Sharon's critique of Eli, "Vote for the talent, not a sympathy vote." MAN... Is it hard!

Tomorrow (Thursday) at 8, we find out who makes it to the Top 5.
Next Wednesday is the finals. October 17th for the final show.

I will repeat what I've said a number of times before. I REALLY hope that producers are paying attention to this show. There are going to be a LOT of people who don't win that SHOULD be in Vegas, or recording albums, or playing all over the US. This Top 10 group is one of the best I've ever seen. Every ONE of them should be doing SOMETHING after this show is over, including Kaitlyn. The only "problem" I see with her is her age, and whether she could remember lyrics to a full show's worth of songs. But I CAN see her doing a few with someone else... Are you listening, producers? America's Got Talent brings it almost every week. There are also people in the Top 20 or even beyond.

Choices:
Wife: Donald Braswell, Joseph Hall, Neal E Boyd, Queen Emily, Nuttin But Strings
Me: Donald Braswell, Jessica Price, Neal E Boyd, Queen Emily, Eli Mattson.

America's Got Talent 2008 - 09/11/2008

Top 10 Results show - Live from LA

Ok... Apparently, when we started yesterday's show late, we only missed Terry Fator's act. :-( Ah, well. At least it was on YouTube! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AJNzrFgMk6c ;-)

So on with tonight's show (only 1/2 hour). By the end of tonight, we will have the top 10.

In and Out acts were voted that way by the American Public. The 5th and 6th place acts are voted on by the judges.

NOTE: All videos are from NBC, and should be the acts from the Top 20 Show.

**

For the past few shows, they've brought two acts to the front of the stage. One goes on, one goes home.

Tuesday acts:

In:
The Wright Kids http://www.nbc.com/Americas_Got_Talent/video/clips/the-wright-kids/642021/ (vs ZOOperstars - We knew who would be picked here.)
Neal E Boyd http://www.nbc.com/Americas_Got_Talent/video/clips/neal-e-boyd/642082/ (vs Queen Emily*)
Queen Emily http://www.nbc.com/Americas_Got_Talent/video/clips/queen-emily/642025/ (vs Neal E Boyd*)
Paul Salos http://www.nbc.com/Americas_Got_Talent/video/clips/paul-salos/642121/ (vs The Cadence. This one upset my wife. I thought Paul was more "Vegas", though.)

Out:
ZOOperstars http://www.nbc.com/Americas_Got_Talent/video/clips/zooperstars/642022/
Extreme Dance FX http://www.nbc.com/Americas_Got_Talent/video/clips/extreme-dance-fx/642024/ (vs James Gang*)
The James Gang http://www.nbc.com/Americas_Got_Talent/video/clips/the-james-gang/642141/ (vs Extreme Dance FX*)
The Cadence http://www.nbc.com/Americas_Got_Talent/video/clips/the-cadence/642142/

* Very sneaky. After getting used to them bringing out two acts, one goes home and one stays, they brought out Neal E Boyd and Queen Emily. The judges were VERY confused, and upset, thinking one would go home. BOTH made it. Then, they brought out Extreme Dance FX and The James Gang one expecting to stay, but no... BOTH went home. It kinda set it up for Wednesdays showdowns (in the same order as shown, except for those in this paragraph).

Judges (5th & 6th):
Between
Daniel Jens http://www.nbc.com/Americas_Got_Talent/video/clips/daniel-jens/642101/
Jessica Price http://www.nbc.com/Americas_Got_Talent/video/clips/jessica-price/642081/

David: Impossible decision. It's very difficult for me. But I have to. That's why I'm a judge. With deep respect for all of you. Jessica, you've come a long way from the beginning. The camera loves you. Daniel, whether you get passed through or not, don't go back to Iraq. You are an inspiration. If you go back, go back and entertain. My vote is Jessica. Sharon: Jessica... You're a gorgeous young girl. I don't know if you could sustain an audience for 90 minutes in Las Vegas. Same with Daniel. Chose: Daniel. Piers: Jessica... I think you were disappointing the last performance. Daniel... When I said go back and serve, there's no greater calling than serving your country. But I'm going to go with the act I think can go on, and that's Jessica. Jessica is in.

Wednesday's acts -

Kaitlyn Maher http://www.nbc.com/Americas_Got_Talent/video/clips/kaitlyn-maher/646881/ (vs SickStep. Even with errors last time, I thought they'd be in.)

Eli Mattson http://www.nbc.com/Americas_Got_Talent/video/clips/eli-mattson/646842/ (vs Sarah Lenore. This was a toughie. I wanted both to get in. But there would have been too many, then.)

Joseph Hall http://www.nbc.com/Americas_Got_Talent/video/clips/joseph-hall/646901/

Piers: Very very difficult call. Only going to go with my vote, because I believe there's more to see with this act. Joseph. Sharon: Jonathan. David: Here's the deal. Whether you get voted off tonight, remember you got this far. Jonathan I love what you do. You have an incredible act. You know I applaud you. Joseph: You're great. Who do I think can sustain an act in Vegas. I gotta go with Joseph. Joseph's in.

America's Got Talent 2008 - 09/10/2008

Oh, man... Fell asleep until 8:10PM, so missed who made it from last night, and Terry Fator! I'll have to hope to find a full-episode to check out once the show's over. If not, sorry. We'll see tomorrow night, I guess.

Sorry. Couldn't find anything so quickly. Keep an eye here - http://www.nbc.com/Americas_Got_Talent/recaps/#cat=3 to see who goes on from The Cadence, Queen Emily, The Wright Kids, The James Gang, Daniel Jens, ZOOperstars, Neal E Boyd, Jessica Price, Extreme Dance FX, and Paul Salos. It should be episodes 313, 314, and maybe 315, the last of which should be on tomorrow night. Keep an eye here http://www.nbc.com/Americas_Got_Talent/video/ for new videos, and here http://www.nbc.com/Americas_Got_Talent/video/categories/two-minute-replays/35417/ for new two-minute recaps.

Tonight: SickStep, Donald Braswell, Joseph Hall, The Taubl Family, Sarah Lenore, Nuttin But Strings, Kaitlyn Maher, Tapping Dads, Eli Mattson, Jonathan Burkin.

**

SickStep http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HGfOidpSmO4
More stunts, new tricks. Vegas or nothing. We're going all the way. From LA. "Blame it on the Boogie". Buzzed early. Piers: Buzzed because he wasn't sure it was better than their last performance. Not sure everyone was in sync with each other. Gotta tighten up. Sharon: Great energy. Love the choreography. Need more gymnastics. David: I know you guys will be voted back. I asked you to bring more attitude, and you did. But, they are right. If you get voted back, bring it. (Not bad. We'll see how the rest of the acts do.)

Donald Braswell http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xv_BBwLEBJw and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RerU3W2tMdY
Like his whole life led to that one single moment (when the door opened and he came down the stairs singing.) He was brought back for a reason. Classically trained performer. At his age, he's so ready for the opportunity. "The Music of the Night". Audience standing ovation. Piers: Can I be frank with you. I am beginning to hate the sight of you. Every time you come back, I am reminded every time you come back and are better, that we rejected you, and it took the American public to bring you back. Sharon: I would like to see you do something upbeat next time. Oozing personality. David: Donald... That is a hard song, and you took my breath away. Whether you win this competition or not, you have a major career ahead of you. (Great. He should be in. Got my vote, and I'm sure my wife's.)

Joseph Hall http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1gUWlYqPFmo (This was last weeks' video. He had the moves, but was off a bit in the look, and didn't sing like Elvis, far as I was concerned. He was lucky to make it through.)
Elvis impersonator. Last week's performance didn't go as well as I wanted it to. Tonight's performance is going to be my last chance. I've got to take control of the stage. "Suspiscious Minds". Audeince standing ovation. Piers: Elvis is back in the building. That was the performance I saw in your first audition. Sharon: Oh, Joseph, Darling. You are packing it tonight... You really are. You are great fun. You really are. The show needs more of you... Much, much more. David: You sounded so much like Elvis tonight, I thought it was a track. Great look. The only difference between you and Elvis is YOU are thinner. (Wife asked if he was lip-syncing. Great outfit. Sounds good. Maybe too many "Elvis moves"? I think he's in.)

The Taubl Family http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qYC78ci1ZTk
On such a high from the last performance. We worked so hard. Thrilling. We're on top, right now, but it's a long way down, and we don't want that to happen. Vegas would be beyond our dreams. We think we're the best new act in America, and we're gonna prove it. "When You Believe"?. Piers buzzed early. Piers: I buzzed you because the first half was boring. However, the second half, when you all came together and got the harmonies together, it was terrific. But the first part may have cost you. Sharon: Well I don't think it did. First boy, it was a bit iffy. After that it warmed up beautifully. Love you. David: It was a bit squirrelly in the beginning. Your power is as a family. If you're going to be a soloist, you HAVE to be good. If you're voted back, come back as a family. (Judges are right. Beginning was off a bit. Once they got everyone involved, it was good. We'll see.)

Sarah Lenore http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QTFjYwQIpmA
Performance last week felt like a big blur. Stage is so big (compared to what I'm used to). Chose a song that will be a test. When she gets nervous, her voice gets loud, so she'll have to control that. "Bleeding Love". Piers: I thought that was a very brave song choice. Difficult song. You sang it well, but not brilliantly. I am now certain that the type of song that suits you best is country. This song exposed where your weaknesses lie. Sharon: You tried to make it your own, but you didn't. Very brave to take on that song, because it's so huge. But you did well. I just don't think we've seen the best of you. I hope you can come back next week and we can see the best of you. David: Going to cross the line and tell America we have to vote you back. That was the wrong song. Whether you win or not, you have a great career. If you come back, go back to your roots. (I thought she did a very good job with the song. Maybe not as good as the original (I've never heard it that I remember), but ...)

Nuttin But String http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6OkWxM12H1I
Last week's performance was dedicated to our cousin who was killed in the streets. We set the bar really high for ourselves. Tonight will be a whole different vibe... A whole different energy. We are gonna keep fighting in this competition, and go all the way. Standing Ovation. Piers: You guys to extraordinary things. You bring two worlds together. The point I want to make is you bring classical music and the streets. It's intense and emotional. I think you can win this competition, because you deserve it. Sharon: Tailored the show tonight for a much younger crowd. If America doesn't bring you back next week, it will be such an injustice. David: Four words: "Nuttin But The Finals". (Violins were a little behind in he mix... Hard to hear, but it was there and good. They're a VERY interesting pair. I'd like to see them do a little quieter and slower song to show some range, but that might be dangerous. We'll see.)

Kaitlyn Maher http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OVt4jiyZUiE
Singing on that big stage makes me feel good. When I was singing, I was looking at the judges. I wasn't nervous, I was just having fun. The judges really like me, and I really like them, too. I'm getting to do something which no other four year old in American is getting to do, and that makes me feel special. "Beauty and the Beast". Piers: Did you enjoy that. (I did. I had fun and I practiced hard.) I'm gonna be a bit of a beast. I just wanna be honest with you. You are our little princess. I have to work out whether you're ready to be the queen, and I don't think you're quite there. Sharon: Thought you sang it so beautifully. I loved the arm movement. It shows you take direction, beautifully. David: I loved the way you ended that song. What's important is that you have brought America together. A four year old girl has affected the audience and these judges. Because when you come on stage, we just all smile. (She's cute. She does a good job. She has not forgotten ANY words. (Could YOU do that at four years old?) But I don't see her going on. She would NOT be able to do 90 minutes in Vegas. I'd really hate to break her heart, but...)

The Tapping Dads (Strange... Can't find any recent videos. Please see earlier posts on AGT)
Last performance was incredible. When we saw our daughters in the audience, it was incredible. When Piers "x"ed us, it absolutely made each and every one of us want to do better. This week, we are working harder than we ever have. We're not stopping until we get to the top. David and Sharon, Standing O. Audience standing ovation. Piers: You may have notice that a very strange thing has happened this evening. My hand was hovering, but I didn't hit it. You looked like you were having fun, tonight. There's something about your spirit and determination... You're beginning to get to me. Sharon: Standard of dancing is getting better. I think you'd do fantastic in Vegas. You're unstoppable. Keep it up. David: I am SO glad I didn't buzz you guys off the other night. And Fred Astaire IS rolling over in his grave right now, because you guys are getting better. (They were great. Camera seemed to focus on one guy, who seems to be the leader, but the others were great, too.)

Eli Mattson http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QJ9-2l4rVCE
This whole thing just feels like a dream... A dream I don't wanna wake up from. With this next sone, I'm trying to take things a little further. It's a monster of a song. This is my big chance. "Some People Want it All". Piers: Some of the acts at this stage of the competition start moaning about the song choices. If every one of the singers had an album out tomorrow, I'd buy yours. Sharon: Great emotion, great passion. HOWEVER, when you're singing the lower register, you have to watch your intonation. David: You sing with such emotion and honesty, you really are the Piano Man. (I like him. He's great on piano, and good with singing.)

Jonathan Burkin http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HeN_m3UmPZo
I want to show the world that baton twirling is serious. Gonna be tough this week (Pressure). "Pinball Wizard". Piers: Great job. I was absolutely sure you were going to drop one, but you didn't. You were brilliant as ever. I think the only problem you will have is the competition. Sharon: We know all about competition, but there's only ONE baton twirler. David: Watching you makes me nervous. Like watching the Olympics. "Don't make one mistake", and you didn't.

End of show

David keeps saying, (paraphrased) "Even if you don't make it, you have a great career ahead of you." I hope he's right. Those producers need to be watching for that to happen, though. I hope they're out there.

Who made it to the Top 20 `on votes:
Nuttin But Strings http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6OkWxM12H1I
Kaitlyn Maher http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=55YwD44PErE
Eli Mattson http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QJ9-2l4rVCE
Donald Braswell http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n45PpO1ZdfY

Who's going home: Indiggo, Flambeaux, Dorea Saunders, Dallas Desperado Dancers

Judge's pick (5th & 6th places in audience voting):
Bryan Cheatham http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gbt6DC2nEWI and
Tapping Dads http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dxw1jzhUUPE
Piers: Tricky one... Cruise Ship Crooner and Fred Astaire's Worst Nightmare - Bryan
Sharon: Without a shadow of doubt, it has to be the Dads
David: I hate this job! Tapping Dads - You're not the best dancers in the world. I think you could sustain in LV. Bryan - You have a major career ahead of you. You've come a long way from Chippendale's. I think you have a way to go (same with Tapping Dads) but it's a competition. My decision: Tapping Dads.

Tonight: The Cadence, Queen Emily, The Wright Kids, The James Gang, Daniel Jens, ZOOperstars, Neal E Boyd, Jessica Price, Extreme Dance FX, and Paul Salos.

The Cadence http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZRaWtwvIlYE
We need to impress Sharon the most. Started with 5 drums, playing with 90 tonight. Something we've never done before. Bringing the animal out. Springfield, Missouri. Piers: When you guys came to your audition, you were very raw. Tonight we got animals. You guys listen to what we tell you. Tonight, for the first time, I saw an act that could play in Vegas. Sharon: Guys, you have come a long way. You've taken a lot of Schtick from me. More attitude. You're growing every week. Well done. David: I have been your biggest critic. I said, I don't know if you guys can do anything different from the Blue Man Group or others. Tonight, you proved me wrong. (Good job. Gonna be tough, tonight!)

Queen Emily http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lfuefCUAi1I
The moment I found I was in the Top 20, I felt like a little girl. Just a few weeks ago, I was in the kitchen, cooking for my kids. Now I'm living my dream. I have to work harder, think harder, perform harder. I'm dreaming big. You can't give up. "A Hero Lies in You". Piers: Not sure you can carry that song. Thing about you, it's like a rocket. When you wail, you wail. Sharon: Enjoyed the way you paced the song. I cannot wait for the finals, so we can hear you sing a whole song. David: I just love this dream. I'm so glad we're on this ride with you, because you're going straight to the top. (Great job. She did it well. Like I said... TOUGH, tonight)

The Wright Kids http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=As0pUp3ybhs
The stage is really big... We're used to a small stage. Mom and Dad were really proud of us. We usually do Bluegrass, and last time we pushed over the top. Tonight they're doing something different and had to practice really hard. Rocky Mount, Virginia. "Rockin' Robin". Piers: Now YOUR singing tonight was miles better. Each week I see you guys I think it'll be the last time, because it's a grown up competition. You get better each time. Sharon: I honestly thought like Piers. I can see some attitude coming, and can't wait to see what you do next week. David: I totally agree with them. You came out and took the stage like a pro. And you guys wowed us tonight. (Great job. Harder and harder to pick 10!)

The James Gang http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BBlKpemUW5g
Classic Songs with Cool Style. Last performance, a lot of things didn't work. So close to going home. The fact that the judges chose us is a lot of pressure. Going back to out roots. Going to slow down, and not try to pack everything into the song. "Hit the Road Jack". Piers: Full marks for going back to roots. Tonight, the vocals were a bit off. Gotta be better than that if you wanna keep going. Sharon: You're great musical theater. I don't know what's missing. It' seems you've gone back from when we first saw you. David: It's a tough call, really strange. You brought back swing with hip-hop. If you make it back, you've GOT to do better. I KNOW you've got it in you. (I like them, but with the levels of competition tonight, I think they're out.)

Daniel Jens http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P5Y5E70jQYw
If someone told me when I was in Iraq, that I'd be here on America's Got Talent, I'd have laughed. Since my last performance, the Army's asked me to re-enlist. Do I continue with my dream, or go back to what I know, in the Army. Tonight America holds my destiny in their hands. "I'm Already There". Piers buzzed early. Piers: I've liked you personally from the start, no nobler cause than serving the country. From the moment you took the uniform off, I looked at your as a singer. Honestly believe the choice of serving country or singing, serve country. Sharon: Thought you did well without shield of guitar. Not the best singer, but I like you. (fight with Piers and Sharon) David: It's a competition, but there's something to be said about heart. But if you sing from your heart, you affect people. And THAT counts. (Mumbled too much on the first part. Too many other good ones. I think he's out, now, too. Too bad... I like him.)

ZOOperstars http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7s0HaJVsppM
Everything was going great until I fell off the stage. We're not perfect. We can be better. We WILL be better. "Can't Get Next To You" (They SANG). "Everybody Dance Now". Piers: I don't know what you're still doing in this competition. The time has come with you. American needs to look into it's soul. Are they really ready to let the winner of the show be a bunch of juvinile creatins. Sharon: You were funny. In the beginning you made me laugh. Not any more. One of them "mooned" her. She said, Excuse me... My ass is bigger than yours. David: The kids really love you, but you were all over the place tonight. I think you've reached the end of the road. (I thought they reached the end of their road a few weeks ago. so... No loss. Funny, but I just can't imagine 90 minutes of them in Vegas!)

Neal E Boyd http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D0J5-NZ30ck&feature=iv
My first performance was amazing for me. The only thing missing was my Mom. We couldn't afford the plane ticket for her. Something amazing happened this week. Their hometown chipped in and bought a plane ticket for her, so she can be here tonight. Missouri. (Song's about moms.) Piers: Where is your mother in the audience tonight. Right over there? I think I'd like to talk to your mother. He's very raw. Each time he comes back, we think we're creating a new talent. When you watch him tonight, singing that well, he's got a brilliant chance of winning AGT. Sharon: You look so handsome, tonight. You look like a superstar. You sang like a superstar. Superstar. David: Wrote down some thoughts. Can you sustain an act in Vegas, being an opera singer. How many will come to see an opera singer. When you came out, and started singing that tonight, I scratched it all out. I'm proud your mother's here tonight. I'm proud MY mother's here tonight to hear your talent. (He's excellent.)

Jessica Price http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fDIgQLTN8Uk
From a town of 444 people. My first performance, I was so nervous. After that, everything's changed. The confidence is growing in me. This song is more challenging for me, have to put the audience in my shoes. I want it, and don't really want to go home. Freeport, Michigan. Sharon's buzzer buzzed right at the beginning. Piers buzzed early. Piers: I buzzed, not because you're not talented, I just thought it was a bit cheezy. I thought it was like watching a tv commercial for toothpaste, tonight. I want you to move us. Sharon: Still have a long way to go. This is a huge opportunity. Go for it. David: When I see you on the monitors, I can't take my eyes off you. You have to make me watch you with your song. You tell your story with your song. (Good, but not as good as others. Sorry, Jessica. I liked you. But choosing tonight, you didn't do it.)

Extreme Dance FX http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pseE-niXze8
Normally at this time, most of us are worried about the first week of school. Now the pressure's on. We're doing something in clogging that no one has ever done before. West Covina, California. Clogging to hip-hop. "Let's Get it Started". Piers: I'd like the rest of you to back off, and the one in the front. Every dance group needs a leader, a rockstar. It's beginning to work, and they're coming with you. Sharon: I truly believe you can take them to Vegas. Contemporary version of Riverdance. David: I agree with Piers. It's so cute. It needs an edge. I need to hear your feet hit the floor. Stomp on our face. Make us watch you. (Good. Gonna be tough to see some of these good acts NOT make it.)

Vegas' latest superstar - Terry Fator with an announcement. In Vegas for five years. Winner this year, appearing in Vegas. October 17th at the MGM Grand. And there'll be some surprises. Another, will be back tomorrow night and do a performance.

Paul Salos http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BNffABQKv-Q
When I saw Piers give me a standing ovation, I knew I'd done my job. Tonight's song is all about flying. 72. Competition makes him feel like a 40yo fighting for his life. "Come Fly With Me". Piers: I'm gonna level with you. Crucial stage in the competition. Honestly, thought it was a weaker performance than I'm used to from you. Wasn't quite connecting as before. Sharon: Lighthearted song, even with technical difficulties (couldn't hear through monitors). Prefer you as Sinatra with Grand Piano. David: Chemistry wasn't there, like before, but the voice was there. (Judges were right... Technical difficulties may have lost the competition for him.)

End of show

Me: The Cadence, Queen Emily, The Wright Kids, Daniel Jens, Neal E Boyd
Wife: The Cadence, Queen Emily, The Wright Kids, Neal E Boyd, Extreme Dance FX

Again, I will say, I hope there are record and Broadway producers and acts from Vegas watching this show. There are going to be a lot of good acts out there that won't make it through this show, some already gone.

Dallas Desperado Dancers
http://www.nbc.com/Americas_Got_Talent/video/clips/dallas-desperado-dancers/276053/ from earlier show
Doing something different, tonight. Piers and Sharon buzzed early. Piers: Liked the energy in earlier round. Wasn't feeling that tonight. Thought they were thinking about it too much. I think you're in trouble, tonight. Sharon: Fantastic, great dancers, but not good enough. Great at half-time and great behind Justin Timberlake. David: I agree with Piers... I think you lost a little edge. I know you worked real hard... Why he let them go through. (It's a cheerleading squad. I think Sharon's right. Background, but not foreground. Sorry girls.)

[Son, who's computer was fried by lightning last night, called for me to look some things up. I missed some of the show, at least enough to tell you WHAT the judges said. Sorry.]

Bryan Cheatham
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=atdgnP44v0s and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D0LTA0959Co from YouTube - earlier shows
R&B singer with muscles (former Chippendale Dancer). Parents weren't proud. Dreaming of this his whole life. Proud his parents are there, smiling. "My First, My Last, My Everything". Judges didn't like him tonight (wife).

Flambeaux
http://www.nbc.com/Americas_Got_Talent/video/clips/flambeaux/273737/ from earlier show
Shoots and Playing with fire. Nope. Judges didn't like him.

Kaitlyn Maher

The kid - 4yo little girl. "What a Wonderful World". Audience loved her. So did the judges. (Cutie pie. She may go through because others are bad!)

[back]

Dorae Saunders
http://www.nbc.com/Americas_Got_Talent/video/clips/dorae-saunders/276177/ and http://www.nbc.com/Americas_Got_Talent/video/clips/dorae-saunders/283084/ from earlier shows
Tina Turner Impersonator. "Disco Inferno". He has SOME dance-steps down. Legs are WAY short, and body is long. Piers: You look fabulous. That was undeniably great fun. We've had a lot of tribute acts. Don't think it's fair to put you through with a guy who SINGS like his hero (Salos). [Argument - A lot of actresses have lip-synced. I'm an actor and a dancer.] Sharon: Piers is right. Frank Sinatra is sensational. YOU are sensational, too. I don't CARE that you don't sing. David: ONLY in America can a transexual ... (forget). You did great, tonight. (Strange. Has some of the moves down, but is a bit thicker than Tina. It's weird to see the boobies in a dress like Tina used to wear. I don't think so., We'll see.

Donald Braswell
http://www.nbc.com/Americas_Got_Talent/video/clips/donald-braswell-ii/283856/ and http://www.nbc.com/Americas_Got_Talent/video/clips/donald-braswell/276035/ from earlier shows
The Wild Card (replaced Russian Bar Trio when the girl was injured and they had to pull out. This is the guy who was in an accident, and hadn't sung on stage for 11 years, until the auditions. And he did great, then!) When they told him he didn't go through in Vegas, he decided he wasn't going to sing again. I'm here because America voted for me, and I'm not going to let them down. "Impossible Dream". Beautiful. Piers: Bet you never ever in your wildest dreams thought you'd be standing on this stage, right now. America said YES. After that performance, America was right to say YES. You've got a great chance, now. Sharon: You sang beautifully, tonight. Is there still room in this industry today for a new Robert Goulet. I don't know if what you do is relevant today. I need to see you smile. Lighten up. David: We all felt really bad when we voted you off. Look at the tape... Look at our faces (Donald: I felt worse). That's a hard song, and you NAILED it, man.

Indiggo
http://www.nbc.com/Americas_Got_Talent/video/clips/indiggo-auditions/266465/ from earlier shows
Sisters. From Bucharest, now New York. Dancing to start with. Piers buzzed early. Audience booed. Piers: I think I speak for the whole of America, when I say the sooner you're shipped back to Bucharest, the better. You're the worst dancers... Sharon: Listen to me. This song... Where did you get this awful song - (from Germany) - Oh, no wonder, it's German. You're like a guilty pleasure. I like watching you. David? David: I LIKE watching you. A very cute song. I don't think you'll make it through, but I liked watching you. (Cute song, but for THIS show? I don't think so.)

Tapping Dads
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eTohZ5zcra8 (from youtube, earlier show - short one), http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A5WXnnEvzt8 (from youtube - at end about 1:30), and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Z3slD7-rCA (not AGT - longer act)
We're basically like every dad in America. We work too hard and can't spend a lot of time with our daughters. Do NOT underestimate this group of Dads. We love competition. (from CA) "Puttin' on the Ritz". Piers buzzed early. Standing Ovation from the audience. Piers: Would you like me to judge you as good dads or dancers... Ok... You asked for it. If Fred Astaire could watch that he'd turn in his grave. (Sharon higt him with papers, tore them up, and strangled him.) Sharon: What you lack technically (piers: is talent - Sharon BOP) you make up for with heart. David: I find you wildly entertaining. (They're better than many! I like their guts. They also seem to know which Dads are good dancers, and they're usually in the front. We'll see.)

Eli Mattson
http://www.nbc.com/Americas_Got_Talent/video/clips/eli-mattson/268791/ from earlier show
Pianist/Singer - Only truly comes to life when he's performing. Can barely believe it's happening. Played some small bars. Go from that to singing for the whole country, and they'll decide my fate. From Wisconson. "Nobody Knows It's Me". Audience Standing Ovation. Piers: Eli... I've got one word for you. Sensational. Sharon: No dancers, no fire, no backing track, just Hammond. All you need. You're voice. David: Good to see someone like you, with class, on this show. Two words for you: Top 10. (Great. I'm voting for him.)

Nuttin But Stringz
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3lyH50okUns from youtube - earlier show
(found song over title card) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WLgfj6YrTTY (and found video) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ZqlZLcmuT4
Mom's our hero. Holding down a job and going to school. A lotta teachers told them they wouldn't amount to anything. They were wrong. We can't wait. From NY. Standing Ovations, audience and judges. Piers: For emotion, intensity, commanding the stage, YOU guys are my favorite act in the competition. You rocked it. Sharon: Most perfect tone from instrument. Crossover. David: You move us with your music. Keep a-comin'. (Great job. They are good.)

End of show.

Choices:
Wife: Bryan Cheatham, Donald Braswell, Kaitlyn Maher, Eli Mattson, Nuttin but Stringz
Me: Bryan Cheatham, Donald Braswell, Tapping Dads, Eli Mattson, Nuttin but Stringz

(Yes... I heard and saw enough of those while on the phone with my son to choose. Kaitlyn is cute, but Bryan, no matter what the judges said (and I didn't hear that, my wife told me), was better. And, the Tapping Dads can sustain an hour-and-a-half show in Vegas. I really don't think she could. Maybe next year, or in a few years, but not right now... Not at 4 years old. Sorry Kaitlyn.)

I, personally, hope that record and play producers are watching these shows. Some of those that won't make it all the way DESERVE to have a chance. And, if America's voted them through to the Top 20 OR the Top 40, obviously, people like them.

America's Got Talent 2008 - 09/02/2008

Here are the two-minute recaps: http://www.nbc.com/Americas_Got_Talent/video/categories/two-minute-replays/35417/ (NBC hasn't put up any of the new videos... Wonder why?) Here's a bunch of the acts on YouTube. and more at America's Got Talent Auditions (Take your pick!)

Top five from last week's show, and the next set of 10.

Here are the top five that made it to the top 20 from last week's show:
Paul Salos (Sinatra impersonator) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bcGQbUQVGoI
The Wright Kids http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=972arrDwGfU
Daniel Jens http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P5Y5E70jQYw
Queen Emily http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lfuefCUAi1I

Going home: Slippery Kittens, Jonathan Arons (trombonist/dancer), George the Giant, Kazual,

And the fifth and sixth spots (voted by judges) between Beyond Belief Dance Company (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PI5ES-PED0M) and Zooperstars (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x3kZzOa7Fik)... Two votes make it. Piers: BBDC... Sharon: Likes the Zooperstars, but they're just SILLY. Likes the others, but doesn't want to be deciding vote again. David: Zooperstars ... OMG! What the Hell? (David said, with great respect, because he knew they'd go on.)

Tonight, the 10 acts are: Texas State Strutters, Michael Strelo-Smith, Bruce Block, Shequida, The Taubl Family, Jonathan Burkin, Sarah Lenore, SickStep, Matthew Piazzi, Joseph Hall

Texas State Strutters (Dancers)
http://www.nbc.com/Americas_Got_Talent/video/clips/texas-state-strutters/278462/ from earlier show
Boogie song. High-kickers (Rockette-style). Buzzed by all three judges. Piers: Trouble was, it was boring. What you need to do is take your act underwater. With the cheesy grins, etc, they could be synchronized swimmers. Sharon: How could you sustain a show for an hour-and-a-half. Not all dancers are that good. David: Frankly, I just said goodbye to dancers I thought were better than you. A bit squirrelly tonight. "We went out on the stage, and did our best, and had the time of our lives" (paraphrased). (Sharon's right... Not sure they could do an hour-and-a-half. David's right - Squirrelly. Piers was right: Boring. Sorry girls.)

Michael Strelo-Smith (Operatic Singer)
http://www.nbc.com/Americas_Got_Talent/video/clips/michael-strelo-smith/283107/ from earlier show
Former music and drama teacher. Doesn't give up. Quit teaching to follow his dream, so he wouldn't be a hypocrit. Still gets letters from his kids. To show his kids at school, if you just stick with it, you can achieve your dream. (Operatic singer) "I Am What I Am". Buzzed by Piers and Sharon. (I think he picked the wrong type of song. It was more a broadway song than operatic.) Piers: Very tough part of the competition. He looked at everything - Clothes, singing, etc. All screamed one word: Kareoke. (He came back with "Sorry Mr Morgan that you can't see what's inside of me. There are a room full of people who disagree." Sharon: Very good performance, great determination. But screams to me, Music Teacher. David: What I like about you is you never give up. And you don't apologize for your performance. And your students should be proud that you took the shot. What's important is that you showed America and your kids to follow your dreams. (I think it was a bad choice of songs. He's more operatic than that. Good job on the song, but...)

Bruce Block (Magician)
http://www.nbc.com/Americas_Got_Talent/video/clips/bruce-block/276147/ from earlier show
Puts his life on the line for his performance. This is all I have left. Tonight, it's now or never. (came out with a number of "little people". He will saw a horse in half. Fake horse goes in, real pony comes out (with handler). Piers buzzed. Piers: What were you doing... What was it all about. You represent every magician in America, and you did the oldest trick in the book. You blew it, spectacularly. Sharon: If you go, can the horse stay, please? (All she said) David: Very confusing. So many people on stage, and it took away from the trick. (Yeah... Not that great. Hard to do a single trick and make things work for this show.)

Shequida (Guy, dressed as a girl, does male/female opera parts)
http://www.nbc.com/Americas_Got_Talent/video/clips/shequida/283101/ from earlier show
Showed up at a costume party as a joke. Black Drag Queen opera singer from Jamaica (his words). "I Will Survive" (operatic). Did it all as a girl, this time. Piers: (Buzzed) You may have survived that, not sure if I would have survived that. Normally he liked the humor of the up and down. Tonight, like his kid's pet rabbit was being killed. Sharon: Very high song. Stunning-looking. Fabulous legs. David: A one man/one woman party. First time, blown away because he sang opera as a man and woman. Tonight was a bit over the top. Very entertaining. (VERY strange tonight... Almost as strange as the girl (way he's dressed) singing alto and baritone! I don't know. Better than some of the others.)

The Taubl Family (Musicians - play and sing)
http://www.nbc.com/Americas_Got_Talent/video/clips/the-taubl-family/268853/ from earlier show
They did the Trapp family "Sound of Music" in their first show. I don't remember them in the Vegas show. ("Not as old fashioned as some people think") ""Umbrella". Piers: Normally at this stage in the competition I split large family groups up. Loves the way they all look... The song choice, etc. Terrific performance, tonight. Sharon: It was looking extremely grim until you came on. You are all so talented. Everything was great. David: First time, I prefer you guys when you sang the "Sound of Music". HOWEVER, in the interview, I said I didn't know if you had the edge, but tonight, you proved me wrong. (Great... Best of the night.)

Jonathan Burkin (Twirler)
http://www.nbc.com/Americas_Got_Talent/video/clips/jonathan-burkin/266461/ from earlier show
College Student. Pressure's unbearable at times. Being a twirler, if you drop it once, you're done. From Ohio. "I'm Still Standing" Audience was chanting "Jonathan". Piers: One word for that: Incredible. What I love about you is that you never make a mistake. Every time we see you, you come back faster, more dangerous. Sharon: So exciting. Performance is non-stop. Sensational. David: You are probably the best baton twirler in the world. Fantastic. Great job. (Not bad! Compared to the others, I think he's through.)

Sarah Lenore
http://www.nbc.com/Americas_Got_Talent/video/clips/sarah-lenore/273675/ from earlier show
Gave up college to follower her love of singing. Vegas would be life-long dream. Dad's biggest, biggest fan. Risky song, tonight. From Plymouth, Michigan. "I'm Through Waiting"? Piers: When you came out, you looked incredibly nervous. When it kicked in, the whole audience was with you and it was stunning. Sharon: Amazingly strong voice. One little thing: Because voice is so strong, you tend to shout instead of following the melody. Be careful with that. David: You're daddy should be really proud, tonight. If I were a betting man (and I am), you'll be in the top 10. (Great job. I think she's through.)

SickStep (Dance instructors/Hip-hop Dancers)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wWIF3RSw7T4 (from youtube - earlier show - short take)
They not only want it, but NEED it. From LA. "Get Up Offa That Thing". Piers: Who Choreographed this. (All did) You did a damn good job. Proved to me you are MORE than street entertainers. Leave the basketball to Kobe Bryant. (LOL) Sharon: Was fun, great attitude, lit up the stage. Well done. David: You guys are sick. If you get voted back, you've got to bring more at-ti-tude. Hopes they get voted back. (Good. We'll see.)

Matthew Piazzi (Arnold Schwartsenegger, George Clooney, etc. - Impersonator)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5I3vqcDOG40 (from YouTube - earlier show, VERY short - YouTube audition? - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cWRQWFrTUlg )
Actor. Piers buzzed. Piers: I think you blew it big time. Why? I think we put you through as an impersonator, never said anything about singing. You're great voices, that's what you're good at. Sharon: You have to work on your writing. Well done. David: I don't know what show they were watching. I thought you did great. (I only vaguely remember him from earlier shows. He was good tonight, I thought.)

Joseph Hall (Elvis impersonator)
http://www.nbc.com/Americas_Got_Talent/video/clips/joseph-hall/268888/ from earlier show
18 Months ago, he was working at his father's restaurant. Went to a party as Elvis and entertained. From Lincoln, Nebraska. "Jailhouse Rock" (They filmed most of it in black and white. Set was like Elvis' song.) Piers: You tend to polarize opinions. All the guys going BOO... All the girls love you. Didn't look as confident, tonight. I think you're taking yourself too seriously. Voice was wobbly. Sharon: Hard to dance and sing. The more practice, the easier it gets. Needs the naughtiness back. Hopes he comes back and can be dirty for him. David: First time, you blew me away. Don't need any other dancers... You just need you. (He has the look... The voice, sometimes, but not always - Tonight was rough. He may make it.)

Wife: Taubl Family, Jonathan Burkin, Sarah Lenore, sickStep, Joseph Hall
Me: Taubl Family, Jonathan Burkin, Sarah Lenore, SickStep, Joseph Hall

We'll find the top five tomorrow night, when we pick from the next 10.

Cya then!

America's Got Talent 2008 - 08/27/2008

[Here are two-minute recaps of prior 2008 shows. http://www.nbc.com/Americas_Got_Talent/video/categories/two-minute-replays/35417/]

Top five from last night, and the next group of 10 acts.

From last night, these are the ones that got through: They brought them out in pairs... One safe and one going home:
Safe (Top 20):
Extreme Dance FX (http://www.nbc.com/Americas_Got_Talent/video/clips/extreme-dance-fx/533191/);
Jessica Price (http://www.nbc.com/Americas_Got_Talent/video/clips/jessica-price/533229/)
The Cadence (http://www.nbc.com/Americas_Got_Talent/video/clips/the-cadence/533225/)
Neal E. Boyd (http://www.nbc.com/Americas_Got_Talent/video/clips/neal-e-boyd/533242/)
Going home: Ronnie B., Shimshi, DC Cowboys, Derrick Barry
Judge's choice (5th and 6th - 2 out of three): The James Gang - Piers & Sharon chose them (http://www.nbc.com/Americas_Got_Talent/video/clips/the-james-gang/533226/)
Going home; Elite - (She cried hard... One of the James Gang guys walked her off stage, and carried her back for applause on his shoulder, then Hoff high-fived her.)

Beyond Belief Dance Company, Paul Salos, Kazual, Zooperstars, The Wright Kids, Jonathan Arons, Daniel Jens, Slippery Kittens, George the Giant, Queen Emily

Ok... No more listing of commercials. Suffice it to say, they happened between each act.

Beyond Belief Dance Company (Couldn't find a video)
21 dancers from Mesquite, Texas. Started dancing eight years ago out of a garage. Piers: Bad News: A bit of a ropey start... Didn't think it was that great... Good news: As it went on you all came together. Advice: Keep it tight, stay focused. Sharon: Great attitudes. Saw some gymnastics and ballet moves. Next time, need MORE... Be it gymnastics, clogging, ballet, whatever. David: Practice and hard work PAID OFF. You NAILED it. Congratulations... Great job. (They were MUCH better when they all danced together - Second half. If they do that more, they can go further.)

Paul Salos http://www.nbc.com/Americas_Got_Talent/video/clips/paul-salos/271766/ from earlier shows
Frank Sinatra impersonator. From Garland(?), Texas. "My Way". Judges: Standing Ovation - Piers was up FIRST. Piers: You did it the way Frank Sinatra did. You may be the oldest swinger in this show, but wants to see him swinging at the end of the show. Sharon: Pitching and phrasing perfect. Fantastic. David: The winner of this show goes to Vegas, but you ARE Vegas. He's sure that Sinatra is looking down on them, now, and saying "Yeah, Baby!" (Great Sinatra... Good job!)

Kazual
Four family singers. Did ballads first couple of times. Piers buzzed early. "Can You Feel It(?)". Piers: Here is the problem from my point of view. When you sing together, you have great harmony. With the exception of the 2nd one, the others blew it, soloing. Sharon: Tonight wasn't the best performance. David: Ok... You were nervous. But you pulled it together in the end. I HOPE that America gives you a 2nd chance. (If they do it the way the judges said, the one sing lead, the others harmony, then they can do well. BUT, they have to get through the voting, tonight.)

Zooperstars http://www.nbc.com/Americas_Got_Talent/video/clips/zooperstars/276176/ from first show
Mascot-type dancers. From Kentucky. Piers buzzed before they all got on stage. "Macho Man". They "Shot" one off the stage and he fell into the audience. A crewman helped him back on stage. One of the "ate" a crewman! Piers: This may just be because I'm "British", I'd like to take a large harpoon and five large darts (to them). Sharon: I can't believe I'm giving comments to a duck and whatever else. Kids will love you. I get it, but I don't know whether your act will sustain an hour and a half in Vegas. David: The name of the show is AMERICA'S Got Talent... not Britain! The audience liked 'em. They waddled off. Jerry: Piers, you just don't get it! (OMG! Funny, but they've GOT to go!)

Jerry introduced Ozzie, who's in the audience.

The Wright Kids (I don't remember them from earlier shows, and couldn't find a video)
Three kids. Must have been a "group of kids" I saw in an earlier show. Don't remember them in the 2nd round (Vegas). Doing a pop song, tonight; Crossing over from Bluegrass. From Rocky Mount, Virginia. Girl on mandolin, boy on guitar, smallest kid on bass! "Daydream Believer". Great on the harmonies. Piers: Levi... You must be the only contestant whose instrument is twice as large as you. I don't think you're the best singers, but you make up it up with charm. Sharon: Big risk with pop song. But it paid off. David: That's what we need to get back to the values of the Partridge Family (which they remind him of). (Not bad... We'll see.)

Jonathan Arons http://www.nbc.com/Americas_Got_Talent/video/clips/jonathan-arons-audition/266460/ from earlier shows
Trombonist/Crazy Dancer - (Played trombone and "danced like crazy" in earlier shows.) Strange. Not BAD, but strange! Piers: Enjoyed it. Sharon: Great showman, but trombone is out of tune. You are fabulous, I love you. David: The worst trombone-playing, but the most entertaining. Like a live cartoon. (Funny, but could YOU stand an hour and a half in Vegas of that? :-P)

Specialist Daniel Jens http://www.nbc.com/Americas_Got_Talent/video/clips/daniel-jens/280738/ from earlier shows
Guitar-player/Singer. Top 40 is mind-boggling. Being able to play guitar and sing in Iraq helped everyone to go far away. Forgot lyrics in 2nd round. "No way I'm gonna forget the lyrics tonight." from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. "Every Breath You Take". Piers: How you feeling (Beyond incredible). Pretty good job. I've not heard tonight, include you in this, a singing voice that SHOULD be in Vegas. Sharon: Great song choice. You sing with great passion. Be careful about your breathing. (Short of breath part way through.) David: First time you were really "yes mam", "yes sir". We have a lotta zoo characters, we have a lotta dancers, but you know what? You're a man, and you inspire me. (Not bad... Needs some voice lessons, but he should go on.)

Slippery Kittens
The Burlesque Moms. Performed in Salt Lake City. All are mothers. "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy". Piers buzzed them when they took off their uniform shirts to reveal red/white/blue outfits. Piers: Ladies... The reason I buzzed you is when you took your clothes off, I found I wanted you to put them back on. It MAY be the tattoos... Sharon: Apologized for her "fellow Brit". David: All I can say is "June is busting out all over". "Are you Pamela Anderson's Mom?" "Another Baywatch". He loved 'em. Jerry said, "I can't wait for Mother's Day". (Not bad. Fun. MUCH more fun than Arons.)

George the Giant http://www.nbc.com/Americas_Got_Talent/video/clips/george-the-giant/271709/ from earlier shows
7'-3" man who does strange things on stage. Sharon: Barking mad, and dreads what he'll do next. In rehearsal, he lost consciousness. Went to hospital. DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME. Chained when he's brought on stage. Hung by feet. Kids come up and beat him like a pinata. Woman comes up and beats him with a bat. He drops candy, but gets out of the chains. Piers: Thought it was childish, embarrassing, pathetic. Sharon: The buildup... And you just hung upside down and had sweets in your chest... Silly. David: This is about a million dollar competition. I don't know. That was a ... little strange. (No shit, David. No way. TOO weird!)

Queen Emily http://www.nbc.com/Americas_Got_Talent/video/clips/queen-emily/283100/ and http://www.nbc.com/Americas_Got_Talent/video/clips/queen-emily/278447/ from earlier shows
R&B Singer. "Ain't No Mountain High Enough". Judges: Standing Ovation. Most of audience, too. Piers: Look at you. We have found a superstar. I said last night Neal Boyd's performance he was Michael Phelps. We just found something the Olympics couldn't find. Someone to beat him. Sharon: You have it all. David: Baby, Look at you now. You have just thrown this competition into complete disarray, because you have become the front-runner. (I don't know about THAT, but I can see her in the finals, right now.)

End of show.

Wife: Beyond Belief, Salos, Kazual, Jens and Queen Emily
Me: Beyond Belief, Salos, Wrights, Jens, and Queen Emily

I liked the Wright Kids' performance tonight better than Kazual's.
My wife says they're too young. We'll see, obviously.

America's Got Talent 2008 - 08/26/2008

BTW: Here are the Season Three Highlights (see many that I've mentioned before, and, I assume, a day or so after a show, you can see the videos from IT) http://www.nbc.com/Americas_Got_Talent/video/categories/season-3-highlights/35415/

NOTE: Videos were taking a LONG time to DL tonight after the show. I included all those of the specific acts I could find, tonight, by their name. It appears they're all from the first set of shows... Not the Top 40 choices shows.

I think in this one, I got all the spellings of the names of the acts correct! (Sorry, if I misspelled them, before!)

**

Top 40 Finalists, 10 at a time. We will vote on the Top 20.

Tonight, we will see Extreme Dance FX, The James Gang, Derrick Barry, Elite, Ronny B, The Cadence, Jessica Price, Shimshi, DC Cowboy, and Neal E Boyd. And NOW, WE choose.

Live from Los Angeles.

Tomorrow, we'll see the top 5 chosen tonight, and the next 10. America Voted on a replacement contestant for one injured. At the end of the show, we'll find out, who.

Now, ON WITH THE SHOW!

**

Extreme Dance FX
Nine young people (14-26) - 8 girls and a guy. Cloggers (kinda tap dancing). From West Covina, CA. Piers: Wasn't a big fan to start with. "That was terrific." Put a lot of work into it. Great team. Great dynamic performance. Gotta come back "Better, faster, tighter". Great for tonight. Sharon: "You were smoking... You were on fire." Great energy. Loves the combo of traditional clogging w/contemporary dance. David: Thought they MIGHT have been too young, but they'd come back and proved them all wrong. (I thought they were good.)

Commercials

The James Gang http://www.nbc.com/Americas_Got_Talent/video/clips/the-james-gang/273700/ from first show
Combine Hip-hop and 1920 music (dance and sing). "I'm a Hoofer". They tossed in a little magic, and missed a bit. Piers: Thinks they're terrific. From the ghetto of NY to this stage. First half was great, and second half kinda lost the way. Don't try to be too complicated. Sharon: So unique, from look and music. But they tried to give too much too soon. Establish the style first, then add on. David: You are exactly what this show is about. Bringing back swing, bringing back Cab Calloway. They're right... Don't need the birds... Tighten up the act. (They LOVE to entertain. It was NOT a way to get out of the ghetto.) (Not bad. I thought the misses were funny, and COULD have been part of the show.)

Commercials

Derrick Barry http://www.nbc.com/Americas_Got_Talent/video/clips/derrick-barry-as-britney-spears/266101/ from first show
Britney Spears impersonator (male). (He's just damn scary... He's CLOSE to looking like Britney... But looks REALLY good as a girl!) From Modesto, CA. "Hit Me Baby One More Time". Piers: Buzzed in the middle of the song. Nothing personal and sure the audience won't agree. He doesn't think grown men should be wearing school-girl outfits and pretending to be Britney. Sharon: Boring, Piers. She LOVES him. Thinks there's room for two Britneys. David: Questioning his sexuality. Likes the coreography, likes the look, etc. David bent over and raised his shirt... His pants were embroidered with "Back Hoff"... Said it was for Piers. (Derrick started five years ago on Halloween - Makes sense!) David pointed out that there's a show in Las Vegas, La Cage a Folles(sp?) and there IS an audience for Derrick. He's fine. (Interesting, and scary, as I said!)

Commercials

Elite (10yo) http://www.nbc.com/Americas_Got_Talent/video/clips/elite/273674/ from first show
The Coreographed Kung-Fu fighting little girl - Alec or Alex?. Risky start for this round. Someone could go to hospital, if they really got hit. From Dallas, VA. Pirate scene. Piers: Very glad he's not her father. Fabulous energy. Every woman in America is watching her kick seven guys butts, and going "Way to go!" Sharon: Sees so many opportunities. Loved the way she whacked her dad's head on the bottle. David: Looks at her and sees her smiling. She could open for Treasure Island or Pirates of the Carribean. (Apparently, she wants to be a stunt person.) (Needs a bit tighter coreography, but otherwise, she's great!)

Commericals

Ronny B. http://www.nbc.com/Americas_Got_Talent/video/clips/ronny-b/278438/ from first show
Latin singer/Dancer. (Strange dancer/singer - Not everyone likes what he does. Performs at LA bus stops). Wants to shock, tonight. David: Stand by for a nightmare! (Doesn't like him.) "She Bang". David buzzed in the middle of the show. Piers: Don't know WHY David buzzed him, he sings and dances better than HIM! Brings fun and entertainment and enthusiasm. Sharon: He has an absurd confidence about him. Compared him to Jiminy Cricket, and said he was an absurd little man. David: Weird. There's SOMETHING he likes about him. Piers didn't think he'd go through, but enjoys him. If Ronnie B makes it all the way, Piers will leave the country! (LOL) (Ronnie B's LOVING the attention and prep.) (He's compelling, in a strange sorta way. I, personally, think they voted him through to give people a person to vote OFF in the first show.)

Commercials

The Cadence
Percussion group. If they don't make it through, they will be devastated, it's the moment they've all been waiting for. from Springfield, MO. "Beat It". Pretty good! Piers: Great to see they listend to them. Thought they ended the act great (put water on the drums, splashing everywhere). Sharon: You need the animal instinct. David: You brought it tonight. Incredibly talented. Tighten it up. He thinks America will vote them through. They have the talent, just need to step it up. (They're good! Could be a bit "tighter" though.)

Singer. She's nervous. Wants to overcome her shyness and prove to America she deserves to be here. "Time After Time". Very balladic. David stood to applaud. Sharon was smiling. Piers: How are you feeling. (Good) You should... That was fantastic. You aren't believing, yet, that you are a star. Lighten up and enjoy it. Sharon: You did it. You should be so proud of yourself. If I was you Dad, nothing could stop me from coming to LA... I'd walk. David: You have come so far. You weren't nervous. I think you have a chance to win this competition. (She looked nervous to me, but sang through it... Great job. Hopefully, she'll be voted through, to give her MORE confidence and experience.)

Shimshi
Magician that (from Jerry's intro from earlier in the show:) "produces playing cards from places you won't believe." Sounds scary! LOL) Dreams big. 10 years ago, he moved to Las Vegas and tried and tried. Trick he will try is very challenging, and not your ordinary trick. Big cards, tore off a corner, put tape on his foot, she shuffled cards, he hung them above his head and flipped, kicking the deck, and HER card (corner missing) stuck to his foot. Piers: Thinks he blew it. Boring. We gave you this big stage, and you did a card trick. (He wanted to do something that was him and had to do with him, not the stage.) Piers: you blew it. Sharon: Execution and timing was perfect. David: Great card trick. This is a big deal. I know you can bring it. If voted through, bring it! (I liked it, myself.)

Dance Troup from the Washington DC. ("Brokeback meets Broadway") It's a hobby, right now. They'd all like to quit their 9-5 jobs, and do it professionally. Been together 14 years. They're here to win. Dance to "Footloose". Piers buzzed quickly. Piers: Gentlemen... Welcome back. Quoted from the video, "One misstep and it's all over"... let them get to 20 then buzzed them. Sharon: What you lack with dancing, they have great personality and enthusiasm. David: Loved you from the beginning... Coreography was great, but just a little off. Tighten it up. (They were not as good as before, but coregraphy was not bad... not great, but... The DO need to "tighten it up".)

Opratic singer. His grandmother died the day after his first appearance. She'd called him and said he'd done good, and the next day, she died. He's dedicating this performance to his grandmother. Says she's looking down saying "Sing pretty for me." "Somewhere" ("There's a place for us" from West Side Story) Standing Ovations from the judges. Piers: Somewhere your grandmother was watching that saying "You sang pretty for me". Only in AMerica can you get a guy that sells insurance that comes to this stage and does that. The Michael Phelps of this. You are the man to beat. Brilliant! Sharon: Wants to give him a great big hug. Superb. David: Loved the song choice. The place for you is right here at the top. Neal: Just trying to make a living. (I think, even if he doesn't win, he's now well-known and a great singer. He'll be hired and produced by someone.)

Now we find out which of the group replaces the Russian Bar Trio - http://www.nbc.com/Americas_Got_Talent/video/clips/russian-bar-trio/268884/ from first show - (the girl got injured). We voted, last time the show was on, remember? From the eight (see last show's description). The judges got it down to that, but couldn't decide from there, leaving it up to America.

And who was voted in? (I voted for Donald Braswell.) ... All eight are there... Donald Braswell! YEA. (http://www.nbc.com/Americas_Got_Talent/video/clips/donald-braswell-ii/283856/ from highlights of first show.)

I feel sorry for the others, but he's BACK! (Sang "You Raised Me Up" the first night.)

End of show.

My wife's picks: Extreme Dance FX, The James Gang, The Cadence, Jessica Price, and Neal E Boyd. I think she's right. ;-)
