America's Got Talent (AGT) 2013 - 09/17/2013 - RCMH, NY - Live Finale

NBC Highlights.

**

Results of the choices from the Top 6 will be by America's vote.

The Top 6 are:
Kenichi Ebina
Cami Bradley
Taylor Williamson
Forte
Jimmy Rose
Collins Keys

Everything hangs on us at home.

Each finalist will take the stage twice tonight, first with an act they've performed before, then later, with a new act.

Jimmy Rose (Country Singer)
Singing an original song (song he did for audition) - "Coal Keeps the Lights On"
Audience - Standing Ovation
Mel B: I wasn't a fan in the very very beginning. But you've turned that around for me.
Howie: I think America is voting for you. The thing is America is voting. You ended up going first. It was a beautiful song, nice sound.
Howard: You wrote this song. It's about your town. When people write originals, it means something to them. Well done. Great way to open the show.
Heidi: I think America fell in love with you right from the start. But you did have the talent to back that up.
JR: That song is about my own family. It's an honor to show the world what coal means to them.
[Great job. Then again, tonight, I don't believe there will be any bad jobs.]

Commercials - Segment #2

Kenichi Ebina (Performs live against video many times)
Audience and Judges - Standing Ovation
Howie: You're exactly what I said you were in the opening piece. You came back and filled the stage. People should vote for you. You deserve to win.
Howard: What's so great about tonight is you brought back that act, and you're so much better than you were then.
Heidi: My most favorite act of this season.
Mel B: I'm so glad we all got to see this again live. You are a genius. You deserve to win this.
[The guy is amazing. Theatrical, and very precise in his movements. He tells a story and does it very well.]

Commercials - Segment #3

Cami Bradley (Singer)
Singing "Believe" by Cher in her own style.
Audience and Judges - Standing Ovation
Howard: Cami, you're making a jerk outta me. I just told Kenichi he'd win. Now I'm telling you you'll win. Its like watching a catepillar turn into a butterfly.
Heidi: I'm just so proud of you, you know, what you do with a song. When you do a song, you put tears in peoples' eyes.
Mel B: You are a class act. Your voice, I could listen to it forever.
Howie: Out of all the singers on the show, I think you're the best. You are the only star. You are unique.
[Wonderful. She's going to have a CD or more than one out before too long, win or lose.]

Commercials - Segment #4

Colins Keys (Magician)
Closeup Magic
Heidi: When it is this close... I mean my eyes were full-on focusing... I don't know how you did it.
Howie: It is amazing. You sir are the master of confusion.
Howard: I am nervous for you tonight. 17yo, let's remind America of that.
Mel B: I think that was one of your best performances. You listened to Howard. You sped it up a little. And I almost got to kiss Heidi.
[As they said, how'd he do that? Good job, Collins. It's gonna take America's vote, though. They HAVE to vote for you!]

Commercials - Segment #5

Tomorrow is the Season Finale. One person will win. Contestants will be performing with stars tomorrow. The show starts at 9:00, 8:00 Central.

Forte (Operatic Trio)
Vegas Week Performace "The Prayer"
Audience and Judges (not Howie) Standing Ovation
Mel B: Wow wow wow. Guys, I'm now a big lover of opera.
Howie: I didn't stand, not because I didn't love it. America's going to have to decide how does that compare to someone acting alone.
Howard: Forte, I always thought you were the front-runners. I don't know now. I can't wait to see what happens.
Heidi: I am a huge fan. I would buy your CD and if you win would come to see your show in Vegas.
[I thought it was a little weaker tonight than the first time. Not that it wasn't good, mind you... It didn't hit me the way their previous acts have. It's gonna be interesting how America votes.]

Commercials - Segment #6

Taylor Williamson (Comedian)
Audience and Judges (Not Howard or Heidi) Standing Ovation
Audience chanting "Taylor Taylor..."
Howie: Comedy is so much more than just writing a joke.
Howard: Howie is trying to make a point. It's more difficult for you to do than a singer. You have a fully evolved character.
Heidi: Taylor, It is true that I didn't like your material at the beginning but I always like YOU.
Mel B: You are very very funny. You're awkward. You're weird. And I like it a lot.
[Interesting way to rehash his jokes. But he had to. So, not bad, Taylor. America's gotta vote for you, though. We'll see.]

Commercials - Segment #7

The six acts have all performed once. Now they have to perform a new act for you.

Cami Bradley (Singer)
"I Wannt to Hold Your Hand" by the Beatles
Howard: I said it before. This is the night when we see Cami's full journey. I see the way you move now. You have developed such a confidence..l;. Congratuations.
Heidi: You never disappoint us.
Mel B: I have one word: Flawless.
Howie: When you are just singing, I have no words to describe it. When I hear you, I just want to hold your hand, and I don't do that!
[Wow. It always takes a few lines to catch onto the song, and this one was no exception. But GREAT job.]

Commercial - Segment #8
Entire opening scene from NBC's new drama - The Blacklist.
[Has looked good from the first time I saw a preview. Depends on what else is on on whether I will watch it. Many shows are being shifted around...]

Collins Key (Magician)
Mel B: How do you do it? I don't want to know, but that was breathtaking.
Howie: It was really good. I think you are getting better nad better. This wass the clearest, most concise performance you've had. And I am baffled.
Howard: I think Collins has taken what I said to heart. I think you identified what I was taliking about last week. This was coherent and good.
Heidi: I think that you're very current. I feel like you've incorporated the next generation of magic.
[At times he seems a bit rushed, but HOW DOES HE DO THAT? It's so infuriating that he does things like this, and we can't even come up with a viable explanation. THAT will get him through, if nothing else.]

Commercials - Segment #9

Jimmy Rose (Country Singer)
"The Dance" by Garth Brooks
Mel B: What can I say. You're just a great performer. I want to hear you on the radio.
Howie: I thought the dynamics were kinda missing. I thought you sang it well, but I didn't hear the dynamics. I thought it was a good rendition of Garth Brooks, but not great.
Howard: I didn't hear the knockout punch. It's not as strong as when you write your own. I don't think it connected.
Heidi: Every time when you step on stage, you give America what they want to hear. You do stay in your comfort zone, but it's beautiful.
[I heard the dynamics. His voice is very reminscent of Garth Brooks, and this one was no exception. I just don't think enough people will vote for him to win. Then again, I've been wrong before! ;-) ]

Commercials - Segment #10

Taylor Williamson (Comedian)
Heidi: When I first met you, I was smitten. But I was very confused by your jokes.
Mel B: You are just fu-uh-nny.
Howie: That' all you're supposed to be. Your mother is here tonight. She should be so proud.
Howard: You really deserve a shot at this. In the past, comedians get overlooked. You need to vote for this guy if you believe in him. So many acts are fast-forward moments... With the dancing and singing I want to fast forward. With you, I don't. You're a contender.
[He's very good. It's like Howard said, though... Comedians get overlooked (except Terry Fator, Howard! However standup comedians without props do! ;-) ) America's gonna have to vote if they want him to win. (Duh? I've been trying to say that all along, but it's the ONLY way anyone is going to win, so ... LOL).]

Commercials - Segment #11

Kenichi Ebina (Performer - Not sure what to call him! LOL)
Audience and Judges (but Mel B) - Standing Ovation
Mel B: I think you are amazing. I think that performace is a little off for me. I'm sorry.
Heidi: I think that your creativity is limitless. When you dance in a video game. When you died and go to heaven... If I could be home, I'd vote for you.
Howard: Never a dull moment. Mel B is wrong. I'm oddly attracted to you as a blond woman. This guy is mesmorizing... This is a celebration of Kenichi tonight, not AGT.
Howie: I don't know how fair it is - what you do and what Taylor does... They have to vote!
[Cool. He was not quite as precise tonight, but he was pretty damn close and pretty damn good. I've never seen anyone do what he does.]

Forte (Operatic Singers)
Audience and Judges - Standing Ovation
Heidi: I grew up with this song, listening to Pavarati singing it. I loved it.
Mel B: What a way to end this show. It's hard to believe you three came together and first performed on this show. Brilliant.
Howie: America's going to have to make a decision. You guys were great. I stood for you.
Howard: I don't even want to like this opera. I don't want to be negative. I want to advise America. You guys are like the Crosby Stills and Nash of opera. You harmonize so perfectly.

Performances are over. America decides who is going to win. Vote tonight or don't complain when your favorite doesn't make it.

Cya tomorrow. ;-)

Commercials - Segment #5

What winning means to the Top 12 acts.

Next results. Kristef Brothers and Taylor Williams
Howard: I'll be honest. This means that America got something wrong. Both of these acts should go into the Final 6.
America has voted. The next act going into the finals is: Taylor Williamson
Howard: Hey look. I love this guy and I'm thrilled he's going through. But I couldn't have predicted that the Kristef Brothers would NOT go through.

Next results: Forte and Branden James
Howie: I think they are equal. They're both phenomenal.
America has voted. The fourth act going into the finals is: Forte.
Forte: First time they performed at all was on AGT (auditions). They didn't expect it to go through.

Snapple Best Stuff Viewing Party in Lockport(?), NY.

Commercials - Segment #6

Next results: D'Angelo & Amanda and Jimmy Rose
America has voted. The fifth act going into the finals is: Jimmy Rose
JR: Never in a million years dreamed I'd be here.
Mel B: I think like I said, you've grown as an artist. I think you're humble and talented and that's why America loves you.

Last results: Catapult Entertainment and Collins Keys
America has voted. The sixth act going into the finals is: Collins Keys
Howard: I'm still going to say it: I still think your pacing is a slow. You need to keep that in mind now you're in the finals.

**

So, those in the finals are:
Kenichi Ebina
Cami Bradley
Taylor Williamson
Forte
Jimmy Rose
Collins Keys

WOW. I don't know. I expected Catapult Entertainment to go through. And I thought D'Angelo & Amanda were better than Jimmy. Even the judges were shocked by some of the choices. I hope America knows what they're doing.

Cya next week for the Finals with the Top 6. ;-)

America's Got Talent (AGT) 2013 - 09/10/2013 - RCMH, NY (Live Top-12)

NBC Highlights.

**

12 acts tonight. Only six (6) will make it through to the finals, next week. No Judge's choice tonight. All will be put through by America's votes.

The Top 12 are:
Innovative Force
Forte
Collins Keys
Taylor Williamson
Cami Bradley
Catapult Entertainment
Branden James
Chicago Boys
Kristef Brothers
Jimmy Rose
Kenichi Ebina
D'Angelo and Amanda

**

First up, The Chicago Boyz (Acrobatics & Jumprope)
Audience = Standing Ovation
Mel B: I just love everything about you guys. There were a couple of mistakes tonight, but I don't think that matters.
Howie: We're almost at the end of the line, and we are looking at the best of the best. But you did have a couple of mistakes. It's going to take America to vote you through.
Howard: That's why tonight is going to be interesting... It's a war of nerves. You are phenomenal performers.
Heidi: You are a great act. You make me smile. I really really like you guys every time.
[They did a great job. Some of the act is redundant, but they've stepped up - especially the jumproping. It will take America. We'll see.]

Commercials - Segment #2

Branded James (Operatic Singer)
"Hallelujah"
Audience = Standing Ovation
Mel B: When I heard you were doing this song, I thought Oh Gosh because it's such a big song. Then you owned it.
Howie: When I saw you chose this song... I think the first thing you did right was choose this song.
Howard: I felt you tonight. You made a connection with this audience. You know what everyone is going to do. They're gonna compare you to Forte.
Heidi: You sang to your strength. And today, better than last times'.
Nick: Why that song? Becuase it inspires me. I get letters all the time from people, and I hope this inspires them. It will get better out there.
[Wow. Beautiful. Compared or not. This could be a final with two opera singers/groups in it. He's great.]

Commercials - Segment #3

Innovative Force (Young girl Dance Troup/Cheerleader-type acrobats)
Audience, Heidi & Mel - Standing Ovation
Howard: I think the crowd is going crazy for you because you're adorable. I think what you did wisely was add in more dance and added in trampoline.
Heidi: You girls worked so hard and it really shows. My girls are doing cartwheels and dance steps because they want to be just like you.
Mel B: This week I was a little worried for you. You were on point. I loved it loved it loved it.
Howie: I kept thinking are they just cheerleaders, you needed a wow moment, and you had it.
[Great job, but we'll have to see. They are kind of an acquired taste. Not sure if America has acquired it, yet. We'll see.]

Commercials - Segment #4

Kristef Brothers (Strength/Acrobatics/Comedy)
Audience and Judges - Standing Ovation
Heidi: I love you guys. You are hilarious. I don't know if in the end that was a mistake, but I love you guys.
Mel B: You are bloody entertaining. You have strength and comedy. I want to buy my ticket to see your show.
Howie: I love you guys. It's like a Richard Simmons tape on steroids.
Howard: You took a routine and made it an SNL skit. You are the first that are definitely going to go through.
[They're good. I like the way they combine comedy with the strength, taking it away from the circus act it could easily be.]

Commercials - Segment #5

D'Angelo and Amanda (Kid Ballroom Dancers)
Audience, Heidi & Mel B - Standing Ovation
Mel B: Yes, yes, yes. Welcome back to the competition. Very talented.
Howie: You are also ramping it up. It's going to be the toughest night America's had. Don't take for granted your favorite will make it through.
Howard: On any other season, you would have already been crowned the winners. But that's how good the talent is this year.
Heidi: You know I love the two of you. I saw some moves we've seen from you before, but it still packs a punch.
[I thought it was a little flat this time. That just shows how good they are, when "flat" is good enough to win the competition and judges over. I don't think there are many adults who could dance the way they do. Good luck, guys!]

Commercials - Segment #6

Catapult Entertainment (Shadow/Silhouette Dance)
Audience and judges - Standing Ovation
Howard: I loved CE from the beginning. In my opinion you took a stumble last week. You told a simple story this week. We connected emotionally. Again, you're going through. Good for you.
Howie: What I love about you... They said it's like Silhouettes last year. But you do what you do best. It told a story about bullying.
Heidi: I loved it too and I love that you put such a positive message out there.
Mel B: That was breathtaking. I don't know how you do it. I want to learn how you do it.
CE: We need to stand up for people who can't stand up for themselves.
[Great! They are one of the best.]

Commercials - Segment #7

Forte (Operatic Trio)
Audience and judges - Standing Ovation, long applause
Howard: You guys always pick the right songs. You know how to harmonize and you know when to harmonize. Here's the third act going through.
Heidi: You sing like true professionals. Three thumbs up.
Mel B: You are definitely going through. When you harmonize, I just want to melt.
Howie: It's amazing, three amazingly talented men singing a song about a sinking ship have brought this evening to amazing heights.
[It's going to be VERY hard for anyone to beat these guys... They are just THAT good!]

Commercials - Segment #8

Taylor Williamson (Comedian)
Audience - Standing Ovation
Heidi: I thought it was really funny when you said you were sending your therapy bills to your mom? I'm going to be sending you mine. You're growing on me.
Howard: I hope people vote for you. When I envision sitting on my couch again, watching the finals, I see you. I thought you did a great job tonight.
Mel B: Ohhhh...
Taylor: Go back to Howard... Go back to Howard...
Howard gives a couple more positive remarks, then throws it to Howie, skipping Mel.
Howie: We see people who sing great and dance great on this show, but that's training. A comedian comes and plays his character, and it's all him.
[He has some really good material, and some ok material. Either way, he's doing a good job with it all. He can make it, if America votes.]

Commercials - Segment #9

Collins Key (young Magician)
Mel B: How'd he do it? Very impressive. Well done, Collins, well done.
Howard: Yeah, I like Collins. If I have one thing to critique, I'd say you need to speed it up a bit.

Commercials - Segment #10

Kenichi Ebina (Dances with Videos performer)
Audience and judges - Standing Ovation
Mel B: This is crazy. I just don't know how you do it... Come up with the idea/concept. Every time you come onto the stage, you own it.
Heidi: It was beautiful. You are an artist.
Howie: You know what? Here's what I got out of it. If America cares at all, this is the man you should vote for. You are true, pure talent.
Howard: This is a guy who changed it... You thought he'd go even more crazy, but you brought it down and made it small. You are going to be in the top-2.
[He keeps coming up with moves I've never seen before. At first I wasn't sure about it, but he proved, this time, he could do interpretive dancing, and still do things we've never seen before. Top-2? Not sure. I think he may be through to next week, though.]

Commercials - Segment #11

Jimmy Rose (Country Singer)
Howie: This night - these are the 12 best acts - I was looking for that wow moment, and didn't feel it.
Mel B: I absolutely love you. You have to be likeable and humble, and that is you.
Heidi: This might have not been my most favorite act of the night, but you always give it your all.
Howard: I have to agree with Howie. I'm not sure you're making the emotional connections. Jimmy's in a tough position. He's got to win.
[He's good. He's kina a typical country singer. He's got a good country voice. Otherwise, though... ???]

Commercials - Segment #12

Cami Bradley (Singer)
Audience and judges - Standing Ovation
Heidi: You did it again. You did again what you do best. You take an iconic song and make it your own.
Mel B: Last week I wasn't that much of a Cami fan, but this time - You're amazing.
Howie: You're a star... You're an angel...
Howard: You remind me of Linda Ronstadt. She used to interpret them. And that's what you do.
[She did do it again. She changes the songs just enough that you question, for a short time, what they are. Then she really pushes them into her own voice. Man. Any other year, she'd have no problem getting through. This year, though...]

Boy... This is a tough one. But with the Top-12, I guess you'd have to expect it to be.

Cya Tomorrow, when the top 6 (by America's vote only) are chosen. ;-)

Jimmy Rose (Country singer)

**

D'Angelo and Amanda (Ballroom Dancers)
Standing Ovation by audience
Mel B: You're technically flawless. But I have to say I
Howie: The truth is we are at a place - You gotta step it up. The last routine was the best I've seen in the history of AGT. I don't think you went up.
Howard: Howie is wrong. If the criteria is to up your game, you did. When you went into the water, you could slip and fall, and with the precise moves you were making...
Heidi: I think the two of you are fierce. I loved the performance. The sparkle and the splash-dance in the end... I loved it.
[The were very precise. And I didn't realize until Howard said something about how slippery it was out there. With that being the case (I thought the dance in the water was great...) it's even better than I had thought. We'll have to see if they make it through.]

Commercials - Segment #2

Marty Brown (Country singer)
Standing Ovation by audience
Mel B: Marty, first of all I want to say that was a lot better than the last time. Still there were some quivering spots for you where you were not spot on.
Howie: You proved me wrong. You can handle the pressure. Tonight people will have to push the edge.
Heidi: Hands down, 100% better today than the last time we saw you. But tonight is jam-packed. We'll have to see what's going to happen.
Howard: I'm glad you didn't sing to your wife tonight like last time. I think you chose a safe performance because of what happened last time. I wanted you to explode.
[His voice is VERY country when singing. I thought he did quite well. As Heidi said, though, there are a lot of good acts. We'll have to see.]

Commercials - Segment #3

The Chicago Boys (Acrobatics/Jumpropes)
[One of the main guys broke his leg in three (3) places last time. They do have replacements, but...]
Standing Ovation by audience and judges
Howard: I have tosay that none ofyou broke your leg. I'm a little dissappointed. Jkg. They did something in there with a double-dutch and more...
Heidi: You guys are truly inspriring. I can see the joy in your face and it's contagious.
Mel B: I have to be honest. I didn't think you'd pull it off... But that was off the HOOOOK!
Howie: I don't know if they can see on TV the height... You are a headline act. You should go through. But it will take America voting.

Commercials - Segment #4

Leon & Romi (Illusionists)
Howard: Last time there was a lot of talk - it was so drawn out. This time, in 90 seconds you did seven (7) tricks.
Heidi: You wowed me, it was visually exciting. I don't know how you do it.
Mel B: How do you do it? That was problematic. I fell in love with magic all over again.
Howie: I have to say that I want to give a standing ovation to Howard Stern. Because I think you made the best choice. That was the best choice for your wildcard.
[We had an Amber Alert, so didn't see anything but the very end of the act. Sorry. By the audience, they did a great job. Even made Howie and Howard kiss each other. Of course, then Howard had to find his wife for a LONG kiss, and Howie got a short one from her, saying he felt better when he got back to his seat... ]

Commercials - Segment #5

Anna Christine (11yo singer)
Stamding Ovation by audience and female judges
Mel B: All the singers in this competition need to be .... You're 11yo. Such control. You're amazing.
Howie: Amazing.
Howard: 11yo. You are fantastic. I'm calling on my friend Jon Bon Jovi to come to the finals and sing with this girl. (I don't have his number...)
Heidi: I have the suspiscion that you have the strongest voice.

Commercials - Segment #6

Kenichi Ebina (video and live act)
Standing Ovation by audience and judges
Howie: This is the biggest talent show in the world. You sir are the biggest talent. You do absolutely everything. People have to vote. You should win a million dollars.
Howaard: I must applaud you. We have seen the strongest semi-finals in the history of AGT. There is nothing that I can say to you that could improve that performance.
Heidi: You are elevating dance to a whole new level. You are a genius.
Mel B: It's just mind-blowing what you do and how you do it... And how you think of it. I want to see this act in Vegas.

Commercials - Segment #7

John Wing (Comedian)
Howard: This guy is a pro. You can tell he's been on stage a million times. He's got themes.
Heidi: I like you John. You're every man's man. I think you're very relatable.
Mel B: You know what I was thinking... You are spot on. I really hope America embraces you and votes for you.
Howie: YOu know what John? This is the night of true talent. You do it well. You do it effortlessly. And I love you.
[I thought he was funny. It will take America voting, of course...]

Commercials - Segment #8

ILuminate and Fall Out Boys will be here tomorrow

Branden James (Opera singer)
Heidi: I'm sweating with you. Every time you do the high note, I'm sweating with you. You are the total package.
Mel B: I have to say that the camera really loves you. I hope tonight that they vote for you.
Howie: The competition tonight is mind-boggling. You are competing against a lot of different acts tonight. The bar is raised. You're on the bar.
Howard: There's no doubt that you have THE most powerful voice in the competition. Tonight I didn't feel like you loved the song. The power was there, the passion wasn't.
[The guy is an EXCELLENT singer - very operatic. I thought he did a great job.]

Commercials - Segment #9

KrisTef Brothers (Comedic Arobatics)
Standing Ovation by audience and judges
Heidi: You have proven that you have what it takes. I want you guys to win this. I feel this strongly about this.
Mel B: I love how you combine your strength with your comedy.
Howie: That was amazing. The trick you did on the chair...
Howard: The strength and balancing... We've seen it before, but you guys have brought it back with your comedy. I love it.
[They were great. The "fake sword swallowing (collapsable swords) was really unnecessary, and visible at time, but it worked. We'll see.]

Commercials - Segment #10

American Military Spouse Choir (Choir)
Standing Ovations by audience
Heidi: I love when you all get together ... And I love what your husbands do...
Howie: Wait wait wait... We have to judge on what these ladies did tonight, not what their husbands do. Did you like what they did tonight.
Heidi: I loved what you did tonight. (Howie: Better than Brandon James?) I loved what you did tonight.
Howard: I felt tonight's performance was more pleasant, maybe more USO than RCMH. I applaud you, I love you... I don't know
Mel B: This competition is really tough. And the singing category was through the roof. Ladies what you did tonight was really good, but was it good enough?
[Beautiful. But I spent years in choirs, so I may be biased.]

Commercials - Segment #11

Timber Brown (Acrobatic aerialist)
Howie: You got tangled up a little didn't you (yes). But when we're seeing danger acts, it comes to me. I think it wsa 3 times as dangerous, but I don't know if America got it.
Howard: Howie's right. The danger was up. But this is ... we're right at the wire ... What happened for me is you got tangled up, messing with the wires and stuff...
Heidi: I don't think this was your best act.
Mel B: I think people are getting a bit lazy  around here. That was dangerous (Howie: America has to vote for him.) Yes. America has to vote for him.

Final Act of the night
Jimmy Rose (Country singer)
Heidi: I think you sing from the heart and I do think America responds to it. But tonight has been a tough day with a lot of standing ovations.
Mel B: Jimmy, when you started singing, I thought OOf... Then I started listening. I felt it all.
Howie; This is a tough night. America is going to have to vote for you. Get on the phones and vote.
Howard; I think people like you very much. But as a singing performance goes, I think it was "nice". And this was a night people were blowing us away.

That's it for tonight.

Cya tomorrow! ;-)

Who is Howard's Wild Card - "Leon and Romi" (Magicians)

Two spots left. The three acts left are: Dave Finley, Catapult Entertainment, Cami Bradley
One act will be put through by you at home, and one by the judges.
America has voted. The act going into the Top 12 is: Cami Bradley
Howie: She said she appreciates it. I think America appreciates it. I love the way you look. You're haunting. There was a movie made about you a few years ago, "A Star Is Born".

Two acts left. Dave Fenley and Catapult Entertainment
Mel B: These are two very different acts. Catapult. I love you guys, but last night you were a bit off. I'm putting Dave through.
Howard: I don't get the whole Dave Mel B thing. I think it hurt Dave last night. Last night playing up to Mel hurt you. Catapult - We discussed that you went off a little bit last night. We need you on this show. There's no way I can say no to you. Catapult.
Heidi: It's a tough description every week. Catapult.
Howie: This is incredibly tough. Catapult, I love what you do. The story you told last week is still in my mind. Don't try to hard. Dave Fenley, last night, you were the first act that turned the entire show around. Up until I saw you, it wasn't really a semi-final. Toughest decision I've had to make so far, but I have to say, Catapult.

**

So, the first six (6) of the final 12 is:
Innovative Force
Forte
Collins Keys
Taylor Williamson
Cami Bradley
Catapult Entertainment

Next week, the 2nd (and final) show putting acts into the Top 12.

Cya then! ;-)

America's Got Talent (AGT) 2013 - 08/27/2013 - RCMH, NY (Live Semi-Final Show #1)

NBC Highlights.

**

12 acts perform. Only six will survive. America votes on those six. This is for the top 12.

One of the acts that made it to the semi-finals had an injury - The Christoph Brothers. One fell on his head during practice. That fall means the guys cannot perform tonight. Hopefully they'll make it next week.

Judge's Wildcard Picks:
Howie: Red Panda - She was going to go on, but had a family emergency and couldn't perform. So tonight, America will get to see her.

The acts tonight:

Tone the Cheifrocka (rapper - one-hit-wonder "Booty")
Red Panda (Juggler - Howie's wildcard pick)
Angela Hoover (Impressionist/Comedian)
Duo Resonance (Strength acrobatics - Heidi's wildcard pick)
Collins Key (magician)
Innovative Force (Gymnasts)
Dave Fenley (singer)
Taylor Williamson (Comedian)
Jonathan Allen (operatic singer)
Catapult Entertainment (silhouette dancers)
Cami Bradley (singer)
Forte (operatic trio)

**

Tone the Cheifrocka (rapper - one-hit-wonder "Booty")
Howard buzzed.
Mel B: What a way to kick off the semi-finals. That was off the chain. I loved it! I didn't know whose Booty to look at - There was plenty to look at.
Howard: Sorry, but I was bored out of my skull. BOOTY is not a great song, and never was.
Howie: I think it is a hit - as good a Gangnam Style. And then you encircle us with all that booty. I agree with Howard you guys are stars.
Heidi: Welcome back. I do like the booty song, but this was not my favorite version.
[Wow. He's a personality, I'll give him that. BOOTY is not a terrible song, but not a great one, either. And he does the same thing over and over (different shows). Of course, attempting to have a one-hit wonder, that's what you would do. I don't think it's good enough to go on.]

Commercials - Segment #2

Red Panda (Juggler)
NOTES: Howie's Wildcard Pick. Replacement for Christoph Brothers, one of whom was injured in practice. Flew in this morning and is performing tonight.
She dropped one.
Howie: She had to be given the chance. Incredible amount of pressure. Now America can vote.
Howard: I want to thank Howie Mandel for bringing her back. Consider that what this woman does is difficult. She can't change it as a singer does.
Heidi: I like you, and know you can do it. I'll bet you've done this 5000 times
Mel B: I felt like I'd seen it before. Yes, there was a platform, but I felt like I'd seen it before.
[This is one of those "same thing over and over", and it's hard to change up. However, it's neat she can do it, and I doubt there's anyone else who could without months of practice. However, with the acts playing tonight, we'll have to see if it's good enough to go through.]

Commercials - Segment #3

Angela Hoover (Impressionist/Comedian)
Howard: Tonight was a night we said you had to step it up and get better and you did. The material - We're still getting chuckles and not big laughs, but...
Heidi: You really made me laugh today.
Mel B: I found the material funny. I was sitting here laughing.
Howie: I agree. You really stepped up your game. I don't think anyone I know is as good as you.
[Not bad. As one judge said, her impressions are more "spot on" than her jokes, but she was making us laugh tonight. We'll see.]

Commercials - Segment #4

Duo Resonance (Strength acrobatics - Heidi's wildcard pick)
Heidi: I am very happy to see you perform again tonight. You always bring a different element in your performace. I thought it was amazing, You always br4ing us something new.
Mel B: I like that you did something different. How do you bend your body in half.
Howie: Creative. Original. How do you come up with that? In the shower. I'm envisioning in the shower.
Howard: I love these guys. I think the box got in the way. I just think this was not a stronger routing than last week's.
[It seems a little "slower" than it should have been, but it was very elegant and pretty. We'll have to see.]

Commercials - Segment #5

Collins Key (magician)
Mel B: This is confusing. Half of me wants me to believe in magic right now. But the other half can't believe it.
Howie: I loved it. I think it's amazing. And I think our website AGT is lighting up right now with people who wanted dates.
Howard: I didn't love it at all. There's a lot of waiting around. I almost hit my "X".
Heidi: I think you are a very good performer. I've never seen the act before. That makes me want to see more.
[How did he do it? I can't figure out the logic. It went a little slow, but I think he performed well. It did seem like there should be more "action" involved, but... He may make it. It's better than somne of the others.]

Commercials - Segment #6

Innovative Force (Gymnasts)
Heidi and audience - Standing O
Howie: I think what you do is - Amazing moves. To me it's a little like a cheerleading competition. I think there's so much more to come. It did not blow me away.
Howard: First of all, what an inspiration you are. You just did an amazing thing. On TV I hope it comes across. You are throwing young people into the air and not hitting the floor.
Heidi: I loved it. I'm excited right now. I think this is the best act of the night so far. I loved it.
Mel B: I am a fan of you guys. Tonight, for me, I thought it was a little "messy". I think the timing was a little off.
[There was a lot of stuff going on. I'm not sure if the timing was off or if it was meant to be that way, but it seemed a little off to me, too. And it also seems like a cheerleading competition, though why they couldn't win with that is beyond me. It will take America voting them through.]

Commercials - Segment #7

Dave Fenley (singer)
Audience and Mel B - Standing O
Mel B: What a great song that is. (It was a Spice Girl's song.) That means you took it and made it your own. I would buy that song tomorrow.
Howard: I think the song was a train wreck. You've got to get off the Mel B kick. You're not a beat-boxer. This was not what you should have done in the semi-finals.
Heidi: What I like about your performance is you don't have the bells and whistles... It's just you and your voice.
Howie: I totally disagree with Howard, the best act of the night.
[I don't agree with the beat-boxing, but he did a good job with it, I thought. The song was repetitive... More than most. Even so, he sang and played it well. I think Howard is a jerk, at least on this one. Best act of the night? Maybe. We'll have to see.]

Commercials - Segment #8

Taylor Williamson (Comedian)
Judges and audience - Standing O
Heidi: You know what my favorite part is? It's when you start flirting with me. No, you did make me laugh today. I really like YOU.
Mel B: I think you're completely innappropriate and I loved it.
Howie: Brilliantly funny. The new best act of the night.
Howard: I gave you the standing O because you're doing the impossible - making America laugh.
[He was funny, but part of that funniness was him playing off Heidi and her playing off him. Still, his jokes were pretty good, and his delivery great.]

Commercials - Segment #9

Jonathan Allen (operatic singer)
Mel B: I think it's interesting you showed a different side of your voice. I don't know if it will register with America. Very brave choice, though.
Howie: I don't think it's your strong side. You were way out of your comfort zone. You saw the way the audience reacted when you were in your comfort zone...
Howard: I admire you tried to strip it down and just the piano. I don't think it worked.
Heidi: I think they're all wrong, and I'm the judge that's right.
[He "got loud" and that's when they're saying he was in his comfort zone and the audience reacted. I think Heidi is right, though. He did very well, and would HAVE to show this side of his voice at some point. If America doesn't vote him through now, they never would. Very good.]

Commercials - Segment #10

Catapult Entertainment (silhouette dancers)
Heidi: I like it. Every time you guys take us on a magical journey and I'm impressed.
Mel B: I liked it but didn't love it. The first half was confusing to me.
Howie: I don't disagree with Mel. I think I liked you better with clear concise stories.
Howard: When you guys come on I expect you to take it to the next level. But the story wasn't clear tonight.
[Great story, but it was a little muddled at first. I know they only have 90 seconds to show the story, but still... I hope they make it through. They're good enough.]

Cami Bradley (singer)
Mel B: I think you have an amazing voice. I found the whole thing a little boring, if I can say that. I would have gone with something a little more full on.
Heidi: I think it takes a lot of courage and vision - that was an Elvis song - It felt like a song I've never heard before. I loved that.
Howard: We can't help falling in love with you. You did a great job. Beautiful rendition.
Howie: I agree with Howard. I think America is in love with you. This is a semi-finals. I think you and Dave and Taylor have turned the night around.
[Relatively nice rendition. If we didn't know the song, there'd be no question. People have to be able to accept that songs they've heard for most their lives are changeable, and have to accept those changes. I think it was done well, and showed off her voice well.]

Commercials - Segment #11

Forte (operatic trio)
Standing Ovation by all
Heidi: Wow. Wow, Wow and Wow. All I have to say.
Mel B: I changed my mind. I really bloody liked you.
Howie: You solidified yourself a place in the quarterfinals. And I think you sent Jonathan Allen home.
Howard: From the opening notes, you had me. That's the sign of true professionals. I'm going to say the pressue of the semi-finals has gotten to everyone except you guys. You know how to perform. You know how to pick a song. Nice job.
[I don't think they sent Jonathan Allen home... YET. I think he has a place in the semi-finals. But he - and everyone else - is going to have to really pick up the pace to beat these guys. EXCELLENT!]

That's it. Results show tomrrow night.

Cya then. ;-)

Howie: I constantly say that you have to get a response from the audience. John, you did. DR, you do things I can't even imagine. I really have to go, because I know it best: John Wing.
Mel B: John, you make me belly laugh every time you walk out. DR, you were so sexy. I have to go with my gut: John.
Howard: DR - You were remarkable. JW - You saw Tom last night, and he got robbed. I know I have to make a decision, and I'm going with John Wing.

NBC Highlights.

**

Only four (4) from this group of twelve (12) will go through to the semi-finals.

Virginia State University Gospel Chorale (Choir)
Melody Caballero (young Contortionist - last minute replacement for Red Panda)
Dave Fenley (singer)
2Unique (Rapper & DJ - 10 and 11yos)
Sam Johnson (Swey Pole)

Selina McKenzie Gordon (15yo Singer)
John Wing (Comedian)
Sprice (Rube Goldberg stuff)
Ruby and Jonas (D'Angelo's younger sister - Ballroom Dancing)
Catapult Entertainment (Silhouette Dancers)

**

Virginia State University Gospel Chorale (Choir)
Quite a few in audience standing
Mel B: I have to say your energy is on point. You make me smile and your harmonies are spot on.
Howie: I have been healed. I could shake hands now. (No I can't.) It's so inspiring. You are the best in your genre.
Howard: The question is will America vote for a gospel group and put you into the semi-finals. You are at the top of your game.
Heidi: I agree, and you guys are so powerful.
[They did Like a Prayer quite well. I'm just not sure America will vote them through.]

Commercials - Segment #2

Red Panda (tossed dishes to head from foot on unicycle) had personal problems and couldn't be on the show.
She was replaced with Melody Cabaliero (young Contortionist)
Howie: I think what you do is unbelievable. You had less than a week to prepare. It looks to me very similar to what you did before. I think it's wow when I've seen it two times, three times, I'm not sure it's wow.
Howard: A singer does the same thing every time, just in song. You're a contortionist. What you do is going to be similar every time.
Heidi: I think what you do is incredible. It looks like you're made out of rubber. I don't know if you could hold on your own, but I think you'd be great in Vegas.
Mel B: You're 10 years old and performing in front of all these people. I didn't see your arms shake once. And I don't know how you can put your butt on your head. Isn't that painful? (No.)
[Howard (and technically, Howie) is right. Her act is going to be similar each time, as will almost everyone elses. It's just that with her, it's a little more obvious. And as Heidi said, I'm not sure she could perform a full hour and hold the crowd. As a PART of the show, she'd be great (like a circus), but as THE show? We'll see what America says.]

ommercials - Segment #3

Tomorrow, Tom Conner (Last year's runner-up comedian) and Train.

Dave Fenley (singer)
Audience: Standing O
Howie: I think it's great. Your sound reminds me of Michael Grimm. Soul and the performance was great.
Heidi: I think you did a really good job. You have a special quality in your voice.
Howard: We're having a very interesting night tonight. I think tonight's going to be very competative. You just took that song, brought it up to the next level. I think you did a beautiful job.
Mel B: I could listen to your voice all day long. One of my favorites.
[This guy has a very unique voice. He is not necessarily on key all the time, but it doesn't matter. He brings it up to the key. For others, that might not work. It works VERY WELL for him. He's great. Loved both selections and styles I've heard him do so far.]

Commercials - Segment #4

2Unique (Rapper & DJ - 10 and 11yos)
Heidi: Your big personality shines on stage, but I do have to ask the question, is this a Vegas act. I'm not sure.
Mel B: You're both adorable. I think you got a little lost on the stage. I'm not sure what you did tonight filled the audience like I know you can.
Howie: You got lost in this thing. You're incredibly talented as a DJ. I think you're talented, but I don't think you've  come to fruition, yet.
Howard: There's something about you two. You have talent. Young lady in the back, you were lost on stage with all the people. There's something about seeing just you two.
[The lead singer got a little lost at the beginning, but restarted when it was supposed to and I don't know that too many people in the world would have noticed. They did the songs well, the DJ scratching at the right places and emphizing the right parts. If they don't make it this year, I woudn't be surprised to see them go further next year.]

Commercials - Segment #5

Sam Johnson (Swey Pole - Filmed earlier)

Commercials - Segment #6

Mel B: I don't really know what to think. It was like a bungee jump.
Howie: It is a danger act. And it was cool. And you did surprise us. Gut feeling: I want to do that!
Howard: You know Sam, at the end we have to think wow that was fun. But when Nick goes I want to do that... Nick ruined it for you.
Heidi: Did you see what I saw? He was on an 80 foot pole, swinging back and forth, then the way he came down.
[I've seen this before in an outdoor circus. The three that said  it didn't look dangerous enough, I'd like to see them climb just 1/2-way up that sway pole. I want to see them get to the top, hook in and sway. And I want to see them come down the way he did, or even to bungee jump that distance.]

Duo Resonance (Acrobats)
Howard: Are we not having a great night or what? This is an act that reminds us of the Chritoph brothers, but you're the opposite. I'd love to see a matchup between you and the Christoph Brothers.
Heidi: Your love affair shines through the performance.
Mel B: That was very erotic, wasn't it? I loved it. You are both very very graceful in all you do.
Howie: It was like porn for the whole family. Howard, this is exactly what I was saying with the contortionist. She did different moves this time.
[What's great is SHE is the base - the strength - though he has his own strength moves. He balances on HER. And they are very stylish. They could really go through, if America votes correctly.]

Commercials - Segment #7

D'Angelo and Amanda (12 and 13yo Ballroom Dancers)
[NOTE: This is the older brother and his partner of Ruby and Jonas]
Standing O by everyone (incl judges)
Howie: Amazing. The intensity. They athleticism. I've never seen an  adult so... It's just beautiful and precise.
Mel B: Technically, you two are spot on. Well done.
Heidi: I loved it, too.
Howard: I love you guys. I'm very proud of you two.
[WOW! They don't  do this well on Dancing with the Stars. Of course, they only have a week or so on Dancing to perfect the dance. Even so, these kids could show them a thing or two. Passe Doble was the dance. Amazing.]

Commercials - Segment #8

Selina McKenzie Gordon (15yo Singer)
Heidi: I think you're gorgeous. I think you have a beautiful voice. Sometiems I couldn't hear you, off pitch a little...
Mel B: You're beautiful. I have to agree with Heidi that you were a little off.
Howie: I think there's commitment... You felt you were on. Well, I stand corrected.
Howard: You didn't sing to the best of your ability. Nerves got you tonight. You are better than that. I've seen you twice before, and you're better than that.
[She was pitchy in parts, but MOST of the song was fine, except I didn't recognize it at all. That doesn't mean it isn't popular, but... Either she got too quiet in parts, the music got too loud, or something was not right. Sorry Selina. If you don't make it this year, come back next, please. And keep it up!]

Commercials - Segment #9

John Wing (Comedian)
Howie and Audience - Standing O
Mel B: You are bloody funny. Very funny. Very current. Very now.
Howie: He needs the most from the audience. To elicit laughter every 10 seconds is hard. You did it.
Howard: Howie's right. Mel's right. You know how to take it to the edge. If America doesn't vote for you, they've done something awful.
Heidi: You had me really laughing. I love how dry you are. I loved the three word phrases at the end.
[He's very droll and dry. But he's FUNNY. Great job. He SHOULD go through.]

Commercials - Segment #10

Sprice (Rube Goldberg stuff)
Howie: I'm amazed with you on so many different levels. And then your effusive energy and excitement is contagious.
Howard: It's hard to argue with what you do. From a show business standpoint I think we need a little more from you. As fun as this is to watch, the precision is such that if one thing goes wrong it's over.
Heidi: I love your act. I've never seen anything like that before. I loved it. I would vote for you.
Mel B: I didn't really like it that much. I find it a bit boring to watch. I felt like I was watching paint dry a bit.
[Since it takes so long to set these up, I'm not sure that they would work for a big-name act.]

Ruby and Jonas (Ballroom Dancing)
NOTE: This is D'Angelo's younger sister]
Audience and Heidi: Standing O
Mel B: You two are very very cute. Your performance is on point. For me, I just found it a little over the top. Technically you were on point. I found it a bit too cheesy.
Heidi: You see? I love that about you. I feel you were made to be on the stage.
Howard: This was an interesting recovery for me. When it was just us (no crowd) you were a little flat. This was not as strong a routine as I've seen you do. You love this crowd, don't you?
Howie: I think you are as good a dancer as your brother. But I liked his dance better.
[I think the thing is that the song was like Austin Powers vs James Bond (her brother's). The dance was wonderful. They should both make it and compete at an even higher level.]

Commercials - Segment #11

Catapult Entertainment (Silhouette Dancers)
Standing O (Everyone, Incl judges)
Heidi: You guys are on a different level of imagination. Hands down, to me, this was the best act of the night.
Mel B: You took us on a journey. I didn't want it to end at all.
Howie: Special shout-out to the producers of AGT to put you at the end. There's no one who could follow you. It's amazing. I have no words.
Howard: It's hard to catch the emotional, and you did it. You are definitely going through.
[They do it very well. The stories are relatively obvious (meaning you're going to catch the references). They make many moves and shadows that you HAVE to wonder HOW they did it. They should easily get through tonight.]

That's it for tonight.

Cya tomorrow night for the results show. ;-)

America's Got Talent (AGT) 2013 - 08/13/2013 - RCMH, NY (Live Show #4)

NOTE: RCMH = Radio City Music Hall throughout.

NBC Highlights.

**

Only four (4) from this group of twelve (12) will go through to the semi-finals.

Three-Penny Chorus and Orchestra (obvious)
Chloe Channell (11yo Singer)
Champions Forever (Unicyclist/Basketball Spinning Family)
Sensetion (Video Dance group)
The Robotix (Rock Band - Oldest is 16yo)
Timber Brown (Acrobatic Aerialist)
Cami Bradley (Singer)
Tummy Talk (Guys drumming on a guy's belly)
Taylor Williamson (Comedian)
Aerial Ice (Ice Skating/Acrobatics/Aerials)
David Ferman (Juggler)
Jimmy Rose (Country Singer)

**

Three-Penny Chorus and Orchestra (obvious)
Mel B: I love you guys. I am not sure if this song works as well as the first one. I think it's just a difficult one to come across as you do it.
Howie: I think the uniqueness of what you do is the surprise.
Howard:  It's not that the song is the wrong song, but that we've seen the act before. Can we see it over and over again.
Heidi: You guys put me in a good mood. Normally you think of an orchestra kind of snooty. I liked the comedy you added.
[I thought they did a great job. Yes, now we've seen their "act", we know what to expect, but the surprise is the songs they do. I thought the song was great, and their style was great.]

Commercials - Segment #2

Chloe Channell (11yo Singer)
Howie: You're an amazing little girl. Was there a moment where you lost your breath or something. I can't believe you're 11yo. You sing it like you've lived it.
Howard: I think you lost your breath because you were nervous. I think you made a good effort.
Heidi: Don't listen to him. You're 11yo and you've performed at RCMH.
Mel B: First and formost, you have an incredible voice. I think you had too much to do. If you get through, just be you.
[I thought she did well. She didn't freak out on the "losing her breath" moment like many kids her age would. She played it off, and I just barely noticed it. Kinda depends on how everyone else does. We'll see.]

Commercials - Segment #3

Champions Forever (Unicyclist/Basketball Spinning Family)
15-20' high unicycles
Howard: Great family to watch. There's every reason in the world I should love this. For some reason it comes off like wallpaper. I watch it and kinda zone out. I like you guys. I think you gave it a good shot.
Heidi: I don't know. I liked it. The family who plays together stays together.
Mel B: I think you're all great. I found it a little repetative and boring.
Howie: The thing is, you separate... The story and the talent not only makes you a great production, but a great reproduction (Husband, wife, and TWELVE kids!)
[It's a circus act, but then aren't most on AGT, typically? What people don't realize about how good they are, five of them (older kids) were holding steady on 15-20' unicycles through the judges' comments. And they do this with spinning basketballs, usually. And at the end, four year old twins came out on unicycles (short ones) to the group. They're GOOD. We'll have to see. This is one of the reasons I don't really like Howard Stern as a judge. People DO follow him, and could vote acts he mentions as "bad" or "boring" out, simply because he said so, not because they didn't deserve it.]

Commercials - Segment #4

Sensetion (Video Dance group)
Heidi: I have to be honest. You lost my attention very very quickly. I do like the technology of all this, but felt is was more of an opening act.
Mel B: I think some of it worked and some of it didn't. I like you.
Howie: This is exactly what we love here at AGT. You were watching us and were inspired. I can see a mashup of prior acts...
Howard: What was the story here? I saw a dog in a box and then an American Flag. What was the story? We were lost. We were kinda drifting. There was dance, but it was barely visible...
[I didn't get the story, either, but the technology and dance were great. One of the three had a problem with his suit "going out" for a while, but they played through it, as if they were on a big Vegas Stage. (Then again, what is the RCMH stage? Chopped liver? LOL)]

Commercials - Segment #5

The Robotix (Rock Band - Oldest is 16yo)
Audience - Standing O
Mel B: Robotix, you sounded great tonight. You have a great voice. I want you (singer) to come out more. Rock on baby.
Howie: That band is off the hook. And you sir, as a drummer, you have so much energy.
Howard: The good is you guys are all great musicians. The bad is the drummer was the best of the band. I think that song was too much for you.
Heidi: For me it felt like I was watching school of rock live and I like that movie.
[I thought they did a great job on a Black Sabbath song. As a lead singer, the girl could have been a little more "Ozzy", but otherwise, they did a great job, I thought.]

Commercials - Segment #6

Timber Brown (Acrobatic Aerialist)
Standing O by all judges (but Mel) and audience
Howie: We have been waiting the whole night ... When it comes to this point on this stage, you've got to ramp it up. Everyone's done fine. Everyone's done great.
Howard: He took an aerial act and made it cool. There's no net. That's a danger act!
Heidi: You're my favorite act tonight. I think you deserve an act in Vegas.
Mel B: I have to say, America has to vote for you because I did think that was incredible.
[It's an aerial act... Great job at it (with no net or wires or helmets or...). He should make it.]

Commercials - Segment #7

Cami Bradley (Singer)
Howard: Well now we're having a fantastic night on AGT. America will vote for you, you deserve it. That song, Believe, and for the first time, the words mean something. You are right up there with Lady Gaga.
Heidi: I thought you were very clever playing the song the way you did. Your voice was beautiful.
Mel B: I think you've given Cher a new way to sing that song.
Howie: You said things like this don't happen to people like you. You're a star. That's exactly what happens to people like you.
[Beautiful version. She should be in.]

Commercials - Segment #8

Tummy Talk (Guys drumming on a guy's belly)
Howie buzzed
Heidi: Ayai yai yai. I feel like we're put into a position to laugh at you and not with you. I felt uncomfortable.
Mel B: I liked the first time I saw you when they were just slapping your body, but...
Howie: You're doing comedy on comedy, and it doesn't work.
Howard: The act doesn't work. This is going to sound kinda funny coming from Fartman, but this was kinda juvenile to me.
[I DO think they "brought it". I mean, it IS a comedy act. It HAS to be. The extra drumming showed that the suit guys are all good drummers. The big guy is the center of the act and has to carry the humor more than the others. I think the judges got it all wrong. I don't know that this act will go through, but who knows?]

Commercials - Segment #9

Taylor Williamson (Comedian)
Standing O by audience and Howie
Mel B: I do find you funny. Tonight was a little bit hit and a little bit miss for me. When you get nervous you mumble a little and I didn't catch everything.
Howie: You can't judge just on the material. He's an awkward guy.
Howard: First of all, you're a very likeable guy. You did very well. You've gotta deliver. I think you did.
Heidi: I am the meany. When you're just being you, you're kinda quirky. I'm looking for an act I can go with with my family. Too much explaining to my kids.
[I've heard worse comedians. But I've heard better. His act was good tonight. He has a strange nasally tone that bugs me after a VERY short time. But I liked the material.]

Commercials - Segment #10

Aerial Ice (Ice Skating/Acrobatics/Aerials)
Howie: This is a year of combining different talents. I thought it was fine.
Howard: I am really pleased. This is so wonderful. You did exactly what I wanted you to do - You stepped it up. Look at what you're doing... These ladies' heads are so close to the synthetic ice...
Heidi: Awesome
Mel B: I wasn't as blown away as everyone else. The tricks that you did near the end I wish you'd have started with them. I'm not saying you're not great...
[Synthetic Ice, huh? Never heard of it. But I thought they did a great job.]

David Ferman (Juggler)
Heidi: You always come up with something new and different.
Mel B: What you do is very dangerous. This is your problem. We don't always know when it starts and when it ends.
Howard: You have to work on the showmanship. Your setup takes too long.
Howie: The tricks are amazing. Most kids your age are working on a fryer, not hanging over it.
Howard: And he juggled upside down. I've never seen that before.
[I thought he was good. He does have to work on getting everyone excited and into the act, but his tricks are fantastic.]

Commercials - Segment #11

Jimmy Rose (Country Singer)
Standing O by audience
Heidi: You sing with a lotta heart and sole. You're super-relaxed. You sing from the heart.
Mel B: That's one of my favorite songs. You ahve a great voice and story. We'll see.
Howie: If Marty, a couple of weeks ago, is any indication... You did 100% better than Marty.
Howard: If there was a checkbox for AGT, you've got them all. I thought it lacked a little feeling - kinda of a Bobby Goldboro vibe to it.

There ya go. Those are the twelve acts.

Cya tomorrow for the results show.

Snapple All-Natural Talent Suite (showing the acts)
Coming up - Jason Derulo

Montage of last night's acts preparing, then onstage with some of the judges' comments

Howie: I think insane (about last night's show) is an understatement. We saw the most dangerous act, the best acts, and we saw the worst injury (one of the Chicago Boyz apparently broke a bone in his lower leg - not sure how badly - at the end of the act. He was the only one of the whole bunch who didn't flip at the end. Tonight they showed him being checked by a medic and flinching, asking if it was broken, and her saying yes.)

Commercials - Segment #2

What happened with the Chicago Boyz guy last night. Broke his tibia in three places. Nick talks to him in the lounge. He'll be out for 2-3 months. He says he will be back.

Nick quickly talks to Jonathan Allen (Gay Operatic Singer whose parents basically refuse to support his choice when he "came out" to them. They support his singing, but not his lifestyle.) He has gotten a LOT of support from the AGT family and Twitter. Said it was amazing.

Jason Derulo performs The Other Side live

Orville Lounge after show

Commercials - Segment #3

Nick introduces Heidi and Mel B, and they show how they have affected the show.

Howard: I didn't like that piece. There should be some secrets around here. Every hair on my head is placed perfectly by 6-7 people... And you cannot give away my secrets...

Group #1 - David "The Cobra Kid" Weathers (Snake act), Leon and Romi (Illusionist/Magician/Escape Artist), Aerosphere Ariel Balloon Show (Aerialists)
America has voted. The act going through to the semi-finals is: None of you.

Howard: America got it right this week. I applaud those three acts. I was tough on the magicians last night and think they had an off night... I don't think they were as strong as what we have left.

Commercials - Segment #4

Group #2 - American Military Spouses Choir, Brandon and Savanah, Kelsey and Bailey
America has voted. The act going into the semi-final is: American Military Spouses Choir
[Yeah... I saw that.]
AMSC: We're just so thankful for all the support.
Mel B: I am so pleased for you ladies. You definitely touched the heart of America. I'm so happy for you.

Group #3 - Jonathan Allen, Jim Meskimen, Keneeci Ibina
America has voted. The act going into the semi-finals is: Keneeci Ibina
Howard: America got it right. This guy is one dancer. Sat in a room somewhere and figured out how to make it fit the stage at RCMH. He's a super-smart guy. Very impressive.

America has voted. The act going into the semi-finals is... going to be revealed after the break

Commercials - Segment #5

Between Jonathan Allen and Jim Meskimen
America has voted. The act going into the semi-finals is: Jonathan Allen
JA: Unbelievable. Thank you. Thank you America. You put me through.
Heidi: The right result. I want to take my shoes off and jump onto that stage and hug you and squeeze you. And she does.

Mitsi Dancing School, Deanna Dellacioppa, Chicago Boyz
The judges will decide who remains in the competition. We have to send one home.
America has voted. The act leaving the competition and going home is: Deanna Dellacioppa. [WHAT?]
Mel B: It's such a tough competiion and you're one of my favorites. Please please don't stop sing. [She could come back with the Judge's Choice.]

Judges decide between Mitsi Dancing School and Chicago Boyz after the break

Commercials - Segment #6

Quick montage of the acts for next week

Decision between 4th and 5th (by America) Decision by judges
Mel B: Mitsi Dancers, you're very beautiful and graceful. Chicago Boyz, you put your heart into it every time. Decision: Chicago Boyz
Howard: There's something both share - They both rely on precision. Mitsi - when you watch it back on TV, and see the 1000 hands going, spectacular. Chicago Boyz, fantastic every time I see you. My choice: Chicago Boyz.
Howie: When you look at Mitsi Dancers, we've not seen this much precision. Chicago Boyz, you hurt yourself, you broke your leg. I have to go with my gut, Chicago Boyz!

American Military Spouses Choir
Keneeci Ibina
Jonathan Allen
Chicago Boyz.

That's it for this week.

Cya next week! ;-)

America's Got Talent (AGT) 2013 - 08/06/2013 - RCMH, NY (Live Show #3)

NBC Highlights.

**

I believe this is the group that went straight through (from commercials). There may be more than twelve (12), so there may be another show of them. We'll see. Meanwhile, four (4) of this  twelve (12) go through to the semi-finals.

Aerosphere Ariel Balloon Show (Aerialists)
Chicago Boyz (Acrobatics/Jump-Rope)
Mitsi Dancing School (Chinese Dance)
Kelsey and Bailey (Dog Act)
Brandon & Savannah (Brother/Sister Rock Group)
Leon and Romi (Illusionist/Magician/Escape Artist)
Deanna Dellacioppa (Singer)
David "The Cobra Kid" Weathers (Snake act)
Jonathan Allen (Operatic Singer)
Keneeci Ibina (Mime/Dance/Acrobat)
Jim Meskimen (Comedian/Impressionist)
American Military Spouses Choir (Singing)

**

Aerosphere Ariel Balloon Show (Aerialists)
Mel B - Standing O
Mel B - Mesmerizing to watch. Speechless.
Howie - It's exciting in the respect that on AGT this is the only place you'd have seen this. But I don't think the moves were that spectacular.
Howard - Here's the thing. This is an excellent use of the space in RCMH. What Howie is saying is do we want to see this again. Despite the audience here, the audience at home may be confused...
Heidi - I think it was very pretty, but I don't think it was grand enough. I kept thinking when is it going to get started.
[I understand that they only had 90 seconds to perform an act, and part of that had to be taken getting the balloon to go pick up the girl. She spun underneath the guy by her neck (his strap was on his neck, too). With a longer show, I think it would be better, but with 90 seconds, just not enough.]

Commercials - Segment #2

Chicago Boyz (Acrobatics/Jump-Rope)
Standing O by judges and audience
Howie: You are amazing. Absolutely amazing. Your life is great. Your entertainment is great.
Howard: You are great. You deserve it (the standing O). You were precise tonight.
Heidi: As everyone knows, every act is 90 seconds. You never dropped the ball. It was exciting.
Mel B: I absolutely love you.
[Mostly jump-rope and a little acrobatics, but they do it all VERY well and with a LOT of enthusiasm. They're great.]

Commercials - Segment #3

Mitsi Dancing School (Chinese Dance)
Howard: The dance of a thousand hands. Tonight is all about precision. It's an intelligent act, I told you before.
Heidi: You girls are all so beautiful. It is a visual feast to watch you all dance.
Mel B: So mystical, so beautiful, so amazing to watch.
Howie: The beauty is it is beautiful. It's new an original for us. I just loved it. It's breath-taking.
[Great job. The "hand dancing" at the beginning (the many-armed/handed god) was fantastic. They deserve to go through.]

Commercials - Segment #4

Kelsey and Bailey (Dog Act)
Heidi: Astonishing what you can do with your dog. I can barely get mine to sit. I don't know if it's enough.
Mel B: I think it's great you have such a lovely relationship with your dog. I don't think there were enough tricks.
Howie: I was going to say the exact same thing. I was bored.
Howard: The act is ... It's not an act that people are going to talk about tomorrow. I don't think this is memorable enough. I don't know that this is going to go over like last year (Olate Dogs won.)
[There were a lot of repeated tricks. I know what she was doing, but how many times can we watch a dog go between its owners legs backward? How many times can we watch it give high-fives? I mean, as the judges said, no matter what is felt about the dog and the girl, the ACT is the important thing, here.]

Commercials - Segment #5

Brandon & Savannah (Brother/Sister Rock Group)
Mel B: You're 13yo. You need to put some more clothes on. You got me. It was good.
Howie: It's hard to believe you're as young as you are. And you come from last year at a camp in front of 10 people to in front of 5000. You owned it.
Howard: You guys... To be 13yo and know how to do that. Prediction: You guys will be signed to a record lable.
Heidi: You guys rocked RCMH like true professionals.
[It was "messy"-sounding, but that would also be the AGT staff. Until they hit the refrain, I couldn't quite make out the song. Refrain, and I knew what it was. It sounded like the broadcast soundboard was not connected to their soundboard, so there was a very strong echo/reverb. I hope people take that into effect.]

Commercials - Segment #6

Leon and Romi (Illusionist/Magician/Escape Artist)
Howard buzzed early
Howard: I didn't get the whole act tonight. Tonight was nuts. I'm watching her dance and dance and dance... I just feel you  blew a whole opportunity.
Howie: I contend there are only three tricks in Magic: You make someone disappear, someone appear, and ???.
Heidi: I think sometimes you magicians do things to distract us.
Mel B: I think the best part was you in the box, Nick. I didn't know where to look. (Howard argues against them.)
[I think the sword box had too many places to put them. I also don't think he took enough time to explain that what we were seeing was from behind, not the front. And still he tricked us. Good job in that respect. Romi's dancing was decent, too! ;-) ]

Commercials - Segment #7

Deanna Dellacioppa (Singer)
Standing O by Howie, Heidi, Mel B
Howard: You did something very smart tonight. You can sometimes come off as old-fashion. You toned it down a little bit. I got to hear you sing tonight, instead of belting it out.
Heidi: I think you nailed it tonight. You showed America what you can do.
Mel B: Flawless.
Howie: Sometimes there are moments. The choice you made was what you sang and how you sang. I promise you by this time tomorrow night, you're gonna know what love is.
[Great job! The girl's got a voice! She should make it through, easily.]

Commercials - Segment #8

David the Cobra Kid Weathers (Snake act)
Heidi: I don't know about this. I was always worried that the snake could jump over the fence. I didn't know what I was supposed to be looking at. I was confused.
Mel B: I don't like snakes. I didn't like any of it.
Howie: As far as danger, I think what Nick said is true... You're crazy.
Howard: The problem with your act is that your act is up to the snake. If he doesn't perform, we don't have an act. It's unpredictable. It didn't work out that well for you.

Commercials - Segment #9

Jonathan Allen (Operatic Singer)
Standing O by all but Howard (he's tired)
Mel B: 20 years old and you've been through so much already.
Howie: It's scary because only four can go on. There is no dream that is impossible.
Howard: I like that you moved out of opera into show tune... It shows diversity. We're routing for you. You're going to have a tough time with the other two opera acts.
Heidi: I love you. You're such a sweetheart and I love your voice.
[Wow. That was fantastic!]

Commercials - Segment #10

Keneeci Ibina (Mime/Dance/Acrobat)
Standing O by all judges
Heidi: I liked it. Very interactive. I liked it. You were very precise. You get me every time.
Mel B: That was off the hook. Fun. Cool. I love you a lot.
Howie: I have never done this before, but Keneeci has to win. Every character on that screen was HIM! The best act I've ever seen.
Howard: The word genius is a word we throw around too much. You are the whole package. To put that whole thing together... To choreograph it...
[Interesting...

Jim Meskimen (Comedian/Impressionist - Mom is Marion Ross from Happy Days)
Mel B: I was completely entertained.
Heidi: I think like when you do Robin Williams you became him.
Howie: People don't realize that when you do it, you have to adjust. I loved it.
Howard: I have mixed feelings about your act. I love your voices, I think they are spot on, but when you give us Ben Franklin, I wanted each of them to do more.
[Some of the voices were spot on, Howard, not all of them. But I've not heard a good impressionist in a VERY long time, and with a touch more work on the voices and material, he's got it. I can see giving him another chance.]

Commercials - Segment #11

American Military Spouses Choir (Singing)
Standing O by all judges and the audiences (chanting USA)
Heidi: Perfect in my eyes. You are heroes here at home.
Mel B: Made me cry. The whole thing was just...
Howie: Amazing, moving, inspriational way to end the show tonight.
Howard; Amezing way to end the show.
[Great song. Great performance.]

**

I'm really not sure what the judges (and America) wants! I mean, they give these people 90 seconds to show their act. They say they want danger! They want rock bands! They want magic! But MOST of those acts just CANNOT perform an act that will please the judges in 90 seconds. Those who can usually DO make it through, but it's tough, and I can understand that. Seems they should be able to find a way to give certain acts more time, or to add to the time in general.

My question is does the AGT staff have anything to do with what is shown? I know they've (supposedly) messed up some acts before. Suggestions for new acts: Be sure you have all your equipment and that you will not damage any stage. Those extras to protect the stage and sometimes protect YOU, depending on what the AGT staff comes up with, could cost you the show.

Ok... Enough... Cya tomorrow for the results from tonight. ;-)

Mel B: I like both these acts. How much further could you take the song. Angela.
Howie: I believe you didn't have material. Tone. You don't have material, but that's what you're going for. I believe you brought something last night, BOOTY, that's who I'm going with.
