RIP Shelby (d:09/26/2011)

Shelby - 05/14/2011
Shelby, a black-lab mix we had gotten from the Lafayette Humane Society a little after Christmas, 2002, died this morning.

When my wife moved up here in July, 2001, she'd had to leave her dogs. The cats we had were ok, but she really wanted a dog. So I promised her a dog for Christmas. Early in 2002, we began looking. We went to Lafayette, where my parents lived, and to Lafayette's Humane Society. We'd gone to look for a small dog, but they didn't have any at the time. Among the dogs they did have, this black lab was super friendly, and Chris decided she wanted her.

When we got her, we were told they thought she was 2 to 2-1/2 years old. Also, when we got her, they thought she'd been spade. We took her to the vet's, got her shots, and he said he thought she'd been spade., but I'm getting a bit ahead of myself.

Shelby was a "mama's dog", meaning she hung out around Chris all day, including "vulturing" from the back of the couch over her as she watched TV or read. (For those who remember, think of Snoopy on a limb or the back of a chair.)

2002
She also considered herself a lap-dog. Chris would get home from work, sit down, and Shelby would be in her lap, licking away. (I called her a Yaegermeister - you know... A black licker! LOL)

She was a pretty good dog. We'd take her out back, and if she wandered out of our yard, we'd call her, and she'd come running back to us. We tried to give her a "run" with a wire stretched across the yard, and a relatively long leash, so she had the run of most of the back yard. But the noise the wheel made on the wire scared her, so all we could do was tie her up.

Well, seems there was this male black lab mix running around the neighborhood at the time. We tied her up outside to do her business, and apparently, HE did HIS. A few short months later, and we had puppies. Here are the updates I sent to friends at the time about Shelby, her puppies, and what our cats thought about the situation:
As mentioned, we kept two of her puppies - Kirby and KC.

Chris visited home at least every month or so, and Shelby and the other dogs tended to be very depressed when she was not home. But when she got back, they almost attacked her, hoping onto her lap and licking away.

Well, Chris' 12yo rat-terrier became pregnant by the next-door neighbor's Spitz. In September, she had three puppies. In October, Chris went back to Fort Branch, and when she came home, she had one of the puppies, she called Jake. Shelby and the "grrls" nosed and licked him, and he had a home.

Whenever we went out on our deck, Shelby and KC would wrestle a bit, and Jake would try to join in. Kirby tended to shy away, though she'd join in now and then. Over the years, Jake came to "rule the roost", and he and Shelby would "wrestle" around the living room. Jake would growl and nip at her back legs, she'd run around with him chasing her, and he'd stand over her chewing on her ears. The others were scared when they did - I think Shelby could be a bit rough, and with Jake growling and such - they tended to huddle by Chris or me.

2003

Shelby also tended not to hang around OUR yard, but visited the neighbors' at times. However, early on, we didn't worry about that. All of the dogs would go out with Chris or me, and would come right back in, when they were done. But, there was this one day ---

I got home from work before Chris. I took the dogs out, and they did their business. However, Shelby wandered on down the street while I was dealing with the other two. I called to her and she kept right on wandering down toward 39. Kirby and KC wanted to follow, but I corralled them and ushered them into the house. Then I headed down toward 39, calling Shelby's name. By the time I got to 39, and a little north on it, I saw a black lab being loaded into a car - Actually, the people opened the car door, and the dog jumped in! I was SURE it was Shelby, but couldn't be positive. I went back home, grabbed the leash, and headed back out to 39. I went the same direction, and by the time I got to Brendenwood's stop-light, I was sure that Shelby was gone. About that time, a pickup went through the light, across to the gas station, carrying a man, a woman and ... a black lab. I crossed 39, and as I was getting close to the truck, I asked if that were their dog. They said no, that they didn't have a phone right now, and was going to call the number on the tag. I asked if the number was - our number - and they said yes. So, I hooked up Shelby, and dragged her back home. At the time I had a hard boot on one foot (after a surgery), and at the distance I had already walked, it was hurting. Anyway, I got her home, and shortly after, I believe, Christopher got all three dogs tags with name, address, phone number, etc., on them.

2008
That was a long time ago. More recently, Shelby was much slower than the other dogs in coming back in for Chris (no leash, again). She tended to stop and smell the air. (We live close to Pizza Hut, so that's probably part of what she was smelling.) Her eyes were starting to get a little cloudy, but she seemed to be able to see and hear ok, Still, she was getting old - about 84-90 in dog years.

Well a couple of days ago, there was no real indication that anything was going to happen. Shelby and Jake wrestled a bit, and Shelby acted quite normally - taking her time outside,... laying by the food bowl (guarding it) and munching while laying down... etc.

We had a garage sale, and for the last part of each day - Friday and Saturday - the dogs were out, greeting people, enjoying the freedom, etc. Shelby was the last to come back in, but again, that was normal.

I got up Sunday at about 12:45, and Shelby was laying in the bathroom. She normally would get up and go into the living room, but she didn't. She bent out of my way. She was panting, but that was relatively normal for her at times, too, so I didn't think anything of it.

I went out to the living room and a few minutes later, Shelby came out of the bathroom. She came into the living room, and I noticed she was kind of wobbily on her feet. She hacked up some mucus, and wandered toward me, heading into the laundry room. I called her out of there, because I knew she'd probably poo there. She came back, and about 1/2-way back, she gacked again. When she got to me, I petted her. She sat down, like normal, but then she laid down, breathing hard, on her side.

I petted her a few minutes, and after she didn't move much, I called Chris, and told her something was wrong with Shelby.  She got up and took the dogs out and Shelby didn't even try to get up. When she came back in, I told her about the gack - mostly food in one - I'd already cleaned up, and the two new puddles

Then we put a sheet under her and dragged her into the living room, so I could use my wheelchair into and out of the kitchen. She didn't even raise her head when we did this. She laid in the living room, and Chris laid by her all day. Chris got up a couple of times to take the others out, and Shelby struggled to her feet, and went out, but either Chris had to pick up her front end and drag her in (very bad for her already bad back, but I couldn't really help very well from the wheelchair, and if I'd have tried standing, I'd have fallen over), or as soon as she hit the hardwood floor inside the door, she'd lay down, and Chris would have to drag her over to the sheet.

Chris had also looked up some things on the internet. We thought maybe she had a stroke, and some sites said that the dog could not only survive, but with time, could recover from one. We called Indianapolis Emergency Vet Hospital to ask questions, but they wanted us to bring her in, which we could NOT afford. We discussed if there were no changes taking her to one of the local vets, and if they couldn't do anything, to have her put down.  Chris had been syringe-feeding her water most of the day, and one time Shelby sat up enough to drink some water out of a bowl.

This went on for some time, and we called the boys to tell them if they wanted to see Shelby again, they should come by. Christopher had a video-speech to give, and Chris told him she wasn't going to be able to come. (He had to have a certain number of people, and Chris and I were in the count.) He'd gotten my other son, Matthew, to come. When he stopped by for my tripod, on the way, he found out about Shelby. I told him to come back afterward, and he did.

After he left, Chris decided to stay out in the living room with Shelby, and I stayed up doing other things. Every time there was an odd noise, Chris sat up and looked at Shelby. She had been breathing hard all day.  About 4:30, Chris got up, took the others out and tried to get Shelby to go. She wouldn't. Chris laid down and was watching Shelby, when she said "She just died." She'd taken three deep breaths, and stopped breathing.

Chris texted Christopher (so if they were asleep, it wouldn't wake them or Katie up), and we were surprised when he texted back. We needed help getting Shelby outside and burying her. He came over a little after 5 and took Shelby out back. Chris went with him, and they buried her behind our trees.

Shelby was a pretty good dog. There were times she didn't listen, but there are a LOT of dogs out there that do the same. We hope she lived a good life, despite the times we yelled at her for various things.

RIP, Shelby.

Montage of last night's performances with some judges' comments
Piers: I think America had a very hard time (picking a winner). One act, we know from their emotions, that they let themselves down, I don't agree. The pressure on America to vote was huge. The pressue on these acts is tremendous.

The acts will each perform with one of their heroes tonight.

Landau Eugene Murphy Jr with Patti LaBelle
Song - "You're All I Need (To Get By)"
LEM - It's been a dream come true. When all this started, my mother asked me who I would like to sing with, and I said, Miss Patti LaBelle.
GREAT performance by both - Patti at 67, Landau at 37. WOW.

Commercials / Segment #2

Def Leppard perform short versions of "Rock of Ages" and "Pour Some Sugar on Me".
VERY COOL. These guys still got it!

Commercials / Segment #3

Neat. Never heard of Cobra Starship (I'm old. Sue me!) but I liked the song.
And Team iLuminate showed they were more than just a fancy light show.

Commercials / Segment #9

Cirque du Soleil perform
That's one of those "How in the Hell do they do some of that stuff?" acts.

Top 4 are welcomed to the stage.

For one act, the end of the road.
America has voted. The act finishing in fourth place and leaving the competition is: Poplyfe
Montage of the AGT journey from Auditions to now, mostly the judges' comments.
Favorite memory - Probably the one we just made (performing with Stevie Wonder). We had so much fun.
Piers: Watching their very first audition, it's hard to believe it's the same band. Be proud, go on, continue, and win the next competition you enter.

Commercials / Segment #10

Next act out: America has voted. The act finishing in third place and leaving the competition is: Team iLuminate (ARE YOU KIDDING ME?)
Montage of their AGT Highlights.
[It's GOTTA be that America figured they were already stars and needed to help someone else. GEEZE!]
This was the most amazing experience of our lives. Thank America for the opportunity, the judges for their comments...
Sharon: Every time they have performed, their concept has amazed myself, the other judges and America.

[I've said it before, and I'll say it again, I'm sure. I hope that producers around America and the world are watching this show. There are a LOT of good acts that haven't made it. Every one of the top 10 deserve their own acts somewhere, and there are at least several in the groups before them.]

Commercials / Segment #11

Montage of Jackie ... Best selling debut artist ever, and latest album went straight to #1.
Jackie Evancho performs Nessun Dorma (an aria from the final act of Giacomo Puccini's opera Turandot)

America, your top two acts are Silhouettes and Landau Eugene Murphy Jr
Howie: They are both phenomenal. The only bad thing there is only one winner, and one million dollars.
Montage of both acts "jouney" through AGT... Silhouettes first, then Landau.
The whole competition has been leading up to this moment.

America has voted. The winner of the $1,000,000 and the star of the headline show in Las Vegas is: LANDAU EUGENE MURPHY JR. Wow! (From carwasher to $1,000,000 crooner.)
Thank you so much for believing in me. It's been a long hard journey.
He's surrounded by every one of the Silhouettes.

LANDAU WINS!

That's it, America. You voted for the crooner. And he proved tonight he can do more. What a year! This was one of the best ever. I hope to see you all next year.

TTFN! ;-)

Opening Segment
Nick mentions special performance by Terry Fator tonight, too.
Intro of the Judges
Montage of many of the best remembered acts and the final four from this year, with judges comments mixed in. Auditions, Vegas Week, Hollywood, and Top 10.

Four acts will perform. America will vote. On at 8PM tomorrow.

Commercials / Segment #2

Landau Eugene Murphy Jr - Singer
Bio montage.
Piers: Could I see him in Vegas tomorrow? Absolutely.
Song - "My Way"
[GREAT JOB!]
Standing Ovation - including the judges.
Piers: What a moment Landau. You've come such a long way on this show. You took your hero's best sone, and sang it absolutely from the heart. I can tell you right now, that is the marker. That is a million dollar performance.
Sharon: You gave me goose-bumps. It was perfectly sung. I heard your vocal range. You didn't play it safe tonight. You gave it your all.
Howie: Landau Eugene Murphy - I have to tell you that there is a good chance that you just sealed the deal.
[It's going to take some to top that, but I'm sure the others will do their best!]

Landau performing a duet with Patty LaBelle tomorrow night.

Commercials / Segment #3

The acts coming into Vegas...

Team iLuminate - Hard to describe - Dancers, actors, technological performances...
Montage of TI practicing.
Standing Ovation, including judges.
Sharon: Technology, creativity, and someone with a vision. And you are the reason our show is so much different than any other. Singers rely on other peoples' songs. You just do it all from zero. And it's just brilliant. It was bigger and better tonight.
Howie: Original. Wonderful. I think you're at just a little bit of a disadvantage. Because people will vote based on a connection, and it may just be that a single act (Landau) may have a better chance than a group your size. But America, if you believe that this group should win, you have to vote.
Piers: We normally just say that you're what this show is about. But you are what this country is about. Smart young people with vision to create jobs, create

Team iLuminate will perform with Cobra Starship tomorrow.

Commercials / Segment #4

Poplyfe - Band
Bio.
Sharon: I can see no reason Poplyfe can't win. They're young and talented and can go all the way.
Songs: (Queen) - We Will Rock You, We Are the Champions\
Some ovation, but judges stayed seated.
Howie: I believe you are champions and you have what it takes, but some of the notes...
Piers: Everyone on the top 4 is going to win. I thought some of the singing was a bit off, and the performace was a bit frenetic... But
Sharon: Your singing wasn't quite on tonight, but your passion is. You are a star.

Poplyfe performing with Stevie Wonder tomorrow.

Commercials / Segment #5

Technical problems for Silhouettes act.
Montage of some first auditions
Montage of Nick at some of the sites, and some of his reactions to acts.

Silhouettes
to "What a Wonderful World" by Louis Armstrong
Great. Standing Ovation by all again.
Piers: I think like Landau and Team iLuminate you saved the best for last.
Sharon: Inpirational.
Howie: They had the perfect ending - the word Love. We loved it. America loves it. America has to vote for their favorite act.

Biggest decision you have to make - Pick a winner.

From tonight's performance, it would be Team iLuminate, though Landau and Silhouettes were fantastic, too, and Poplyfe is MUCH better than tonight's performance.

I won't be (too) upset, no matter who wins.

Cya Tomorrow for the Finale. ;-)

10 acts, 4 spots in the finals

SBRS: It's been a roller coaster ride with breakdowns and people getting hurt. But it's been great.

Commercials / Segment #2

Orville Lounge After Party

Next group:
Miami All-Stars and Lys Agnes
Piers: This is bigger than last night. We've seen you both before, getting better and better. It's a testiment of the talent we've had this year, that one or both of you are going home.
America has voted. The act going through to the finals is: [Lys or neither]... Neither. I'm sorry. You both are going home.
MAS: Favorite memory. I remember when Piers saw our Swing, and he said it was our favorite performance of the night. How can we not be grateful to America.
Lys: Standout moment: Last night was a big moment. My whole life I've been hard to define. And I want to thank all those who got it... who understood...
Piers: What lovely speeches to make. We know how devastated you are. One thing I know is you couldn't have done any more than you did. I know we'll hear more from both of you.

Commercials / Segment #3

Next group:
Poplyfe and Landon Swank
Sharon: I do love both acts. Mixed emotions. At this stage, you're all winners. Remember you're all hear because America has voted you here. Even if you go home, you have a fanbase. This is only the beginning.
Less than 1% difference in their totals
America has voted. The act going through to the finals: Poplyfe
Landon: Life-changing. Thank you (judges) for your kind words. Now lets go out and support Landon Swank.
Poplyfe: (Plans for the finals) Something epic.

Next group:
Silhouette and West Springfield Dance Team
America has voted. The act going into the finals is: Silhouette
WSDT: (Highlight) The experience has been so amazing. We honestly didn't expect to come this far.
Howie: I can't tell you how exciting I am for you (Silhouette). This is the year of the dance. Already in the top 4 we have two dance groups. You are so special... so unique...

One spot left, 2 acts remaning.
Landau and Anna

Commercials / Segment #6

Landau Eugene Murphy Jr and Anna Graceman
America has voted. The act going into the finals is: Landau Eugene Murphy Jr
Anna: This experience has been amazing. I am so lucky to be here, and I'm so happy for Landau (she was crying, but hard to tell if it was because she lost, or Landau won!)

So, America, the final four are:
Landau Eugene Murphy Jr
Silhouette
PopLyfe

Montage of the acts from tonight

The Top 10 are:
Team iLumninate
PopLyfe
Lys Agnes
Miami All Stars
West Springfield Dance Team
Silhouette
Landau Eugene Murphy Jr
Anna Graysman
Landon Swank
Smage Bros Riding Show

I see way more than 4 in this group I'd like to see in the Finals. I guess it depends on what and how they do tonight.

Opening segment
Live from Hollywood
Nick intro
Finals, next week. Only 4 spots for the finals. No judges picks this week, but they still have their buzzers.
Judges intros

Sent the acts off to a top celebrity hang out where they got to hang out with the judges.
From 100,000 acts for this season, whittled down to these 10.

Michael Grimm performs "Stay With Me (Baby)"
He's on tour with Stevie Nicks promoting his new album. Almost done building his grandmother's house, and got married.

Commercials / Segment #2

Miami All-Stars - Dance Group
All born in Miami, but all come from different countries
Sharon: A dance group has never won AGT, but this group could do it.
Piers buzzed before 2nd song started
[Not quite as thilling as before, but cool.]
Piers: You became a cheerleading act. You had the silly chicken. It made you look a bit silly, so you came from an explosive act to a silly act. It's only my opinion, but I think it was a mistake.
Sharon: The theme of this, I'm not in love with the theme. The energy was fantastic, but I think you let yourself down with this performance.
Howie: It is NFL kickoff week on NBC. I think you are all-stars, but I think you took the Miami  out of the all-stars. I loved the Latin flare.
[It was a neat act, and only one of the many dances they've done, but this is the one that gets them into the finals. I think, llke the judges, they blew it.]

Commercials / Segment #3

Lys Agnes - Operatic singer
Mother was a singer in Vegas. When the show closed, she didn't have work.
Piers: If Lys delivers the same as she did in the last round, she'll make it through.
She wants to fuse rock and opera together.
Aerosmith's "Dream On"
[That woman has a helluva range!]
Sharon: At the beginning of the song, I thought I was listening Cher. When you sing in your lower register, it just doesn't sound as good. It picked up in the middle.
Howie: The scary thing - The positive and the negative is you're a great singer. I don't know if the risk
Piers: Ignore them. They're talking complete clap trap. The worst thing you could have done is to come out and do the same thing you've done. I thought you were perfect pitch in the lower register. And when you hit the big note, I felt it. I think the American public will say this is a proper bona-fide performance.
Lys: My roots are in rock, and I wanted to share that with everyone.
[THAT was interesting. I think something from Tommy or Jesus Christ Superstar or Cats or something like that would have suited her voice better, but DAMN that girl can sing. Power in the lower register, and she did it well. Sharon said the song was written for (by, Sharon) Steven Tyler who has one of the highest registers... No... He can flat out sing, too. And he's learned how to scream those high notes on key, as other rockers have. Why can't Lys?]

Commercials / Segment #4

Landon Swank - Illusionist
Not sure being in the Top 10 has sunk in, yet. Grew up in Alaska, a small town (Wassilla). Grew up watching Copperfield.
Piers: Landon's problem is magic acts have not made the finals. He's got to do it tonight.
He does a type of Copperfield performance. Sometimes it can seem a little slow.
Sharon and Howie standing o.
Howie: You're a conjurer. You conjur things up.
Piers: I'm not sure what I just watched. Did it work the way it was supposed to? (Yes - This is the first time it has!)
Sharon: I love the relaxed way you perform. There's none of those capes and flashy stuff. I loved it.
Landon: (Nervous?) Absolutely. Like I said, this is the first time it's actually worked!
[The only thing that bothers me about him is how slow the act goes. He's good at what he does, and he's very theatrical (like Copperfield). I hope he has a real chance.]

Commercials / Segment #5

Anna Graceman (sorry for the misspellings earlier) - Singer (11yo)
She's from Juneau Alaska
Howie: Where do you get such soul, such talent out of an 11 year old\
[She's not at the piano...]
Song: Cyndi Lauper's "True Colors"
[Hard to believe that girl is 11 years old!]
Piers: You think you sang well? (yes). You have an extraordinary voice, but when you're in the lower register, you go flat. (I didn't hear it.) The obvious comparison is with Jackie, last year. A great performance, but it's going to be a tough night.
Sharon: Loved the song choice. I felt with you on the "grassy knoll" didn't let you perform as well. I'd love to have seen you flat on the stage. Well done.
Howie: You're 11yo. You're already a star. I don't know if this song or this performance will do it.
Anna: I didn't use the piano this time, because I really wanted to connect with my audience.
[I don't think Piers was right. Anna hit all the notes right. She did a great job, and she's got a helluva chance.]

Commercials / Segment #6

Silhouettes - hard to describe
There are children in Silhouettes who have life-threatening illnesses. Don't let life's obsticals stop you.
Song: I Believe (that Love is the Answer)
Standing ovation by everyone, including all judges.
Sharon: My goodness me. That was exquisite. That was breathtaking, and beautiful and exquisite (audience STILL cheering).
Howie: If I repeat what she said, I don't know, because I couldn't hear what she said. I think this is the first final act of the show tonight.
Piers: As I was watching it tonight, what a story you told. America's having a tough time. You come along and make people proud of being Americans. It AGT... This act to me, THE best performance of the night by far.
S: This has been the most amazing journey most of us have been on. We're just so happy to be here.

Commercials / Segment #7

Smage Brothers Riding Show
Piers: The Smage Bros nearly killed themselves and their family last performance. How they step it up from there, I don't know.
[WOW!]
Howie: OMG! First thing I have to ask are you ok? Mr Small you got hit in the head... (He's ok). So you said last time you were going to make Wisconsin
Piers: Very exciting, dramatic and so on. I didn't think it was as good as last time... You made several mistakes. Overall, I still love you as an act, but as an act in the Top 10, a litte disappointing.
Sharon: I disagree with Piers... I thought it was exciting and wonderful.
[I thought they were damn good, too. I don't know what show Piers is watching tonight. Probably his own on his iPhone.]

Commercials / Segment #8

Tomorrow - Il Divo and Howie Mandal as you've never seen him before

Poplyfe - Band
Howie: Song choice is huge. Beatles last time was wonderful, but where do you go from there?
Jackson Five - "I'll Be There" at the beginning. "Oh Baby Give Me One More Chance"... "Stop the Love You Save"...
Sharon and Howie (and audience) Standing Ovation - They get Piers up.
Piers: For the first time in his miserable little life, Nick Cannon is right. That does deserve a standing ovation. You are a great pop band. That's what you are.
Sharon: A great idea to come up with that Jackson medley. There's such a place for you in the industry right now. Kids relate to you.
Howie: Everybody in America, you are idiots if you don't vote. These people deserve it.
P: We wanted something to be different. You don't have to sing Rap and rock. We wanted to bring back some of the feel-good music.
[She sounded VERY much like a young Micheal. The songs were a little fast, but they were damn good. They DO deserve to go on.]

Commercials / Segment #9

West Springfield Dance Team ... Dance Team
Sharon: These are high-school kids. They've gone from YouTube to the top 10 and they could make it to the finals.
Piers buzzed. [Fun, but a little slow]
Sharon: Now, whenever you're going to be on the show, there's no surprises. It's too predictable for me, now.
Howie: I thought it was very good, but I don't think it was stepped up from last time.
Piers: If I'd have been you guys, I wouldn't have done the horror stuff tonight. I think I'd have surprised us and shown your full dancing capbabilities. I think we're all feeling it. It was predictable and a little boring. Sorry.
[I don't know about predictable and boring, but it was VERY slow and plodding this time. As the judges said, not a top-10 performance, though good jobs.]

Commercials / Segment #10

Auditions for next season start in October.

Landau Eugene Murphy Jr - Singer
Piers: This is a dream. This is a guy who washes cars. Now he's that close to a million dollars.
The thing that's missing in Vegas is the crooners. (Landau)
Song: "Ain't That A Kick in the Head"
[The guy sounds JUST like Sinatra]
Everybody is on their feet - Audience, judges, and more!
Howie: Dean Martin. I'd like to kick America in the head and tell them to vote for you. You're amazing. You're a great guy with great talent.
Piers: you got your mojo back! You were struting the stage. I was watching you. We were talking about his earlier tonight. If I ware to spend my own money on any act tongiht, it would be Landau Eugene Murphy Jr.
Sharon: You are one helluva class act. You look ... Wooo. So smart you look. You know when you are listening to something great.
LEM: I love everybody out here.

Commercials / Segment #11

Team iLuminate - Hard to describe - Music, Dance, Technology
Howie: They've set their performance to such I high level, it's going to be hard to beat.
The girl who runs the computer is going to dance with the team.
WOW! Standing Ovation by everyone, including judges.
Piers: You can tell by the reaction of the crowd, its been an amazing night. That was, by far, your best performance. I've done this show for 6 years. I don't think I've seen any more original act before.
Sharon: I'm in Vegas, right now, watching a million dollar act.
Howie: What a night. You were spectacular. I can tell you as a judge sitting right here, one of the best acts I've seen. They've gotta VOTE!

Remember there are no judges' picks this time. Only FOUR acts will make it.
My choices: Team iLuminate, Silhouettes, Landau Eugene Murphy Jr, and ... SH-T! I want them them ALL to go through... One more, huh? Ok... I'll say PopLyfe, though I wouldn't be upset if Lys Agnes, Anna Graceman or Smage Bros Riding Show make it through.

Results show tomorrow.

Cya then. ;-)

Opening segment
Intro of Nick & the judges

Howie: I know they (America) had a struggle. There are way more than 5 acts worthy of going through. I can only imagine what Piers said yesterday that the top 10 is going to be tremendous.

First group
Gymkana, Steven Retchless, Silhouette
Sharon: I cannot call it. Gymkana risked their lives last night for us. Silhouette... beauty. And Steven, what can I say...
America has voted. The act going through to the top 10 is: Silhouette (YAY)
S: Amazing. We're so honored.
Sharon: I am happy happy happy. And look at this little one crying. Don't cry.

Commercials / Segment #2

Orville Lounge after-show party

David Guetta with  Flo-Rida & Nicki Minaj perform Where Them Girls At
I kinda liked it, but why is it I think that if ANY act auditioning for the show had performed as they had (and others in results shows - off key, etc.) that they'd have at LEAST be buzzed by Piers, and yet he (and the other judges) give them standing ovations?

Commercials / Segment #3

Next group:
Landau Eugene Murphy Jr and Anna Graysman
[GOTTA be both]
Howie: It's so difficult to pick a winner. Anna you are a phenomenan. And Landau, what a surprise. I have no idea. And I'm gonna be devastated.
Ameria has voted. The act going into the top 10 is: Anna Graysman
Landau: I'm truly blest. I thank AGT.
Nick: What if I told you the ride isn[t over. YOU MADE IT THROUGH TOO!
HOWIE: OMG!

Next group:
Professor Splash, Fatally Unique, Summerwind Skippers, and Landon Swank
The act going through to the top 10 is: Landon Swank
Huh! He was good, though.
LS: Absolutely thrilled. Thank you all. Thank you so much for voting.
Piers: There's nothing sweeter than bringing someone back for the wild-card and have them perform as you did last night. You are one great trick from winning.

Commercials / Segment #4

Susan Boyle performs You Have to Be There

Commercials / Segment #5

Last group:
Smage Bros Riding Show, The Kinetic King, Snap Boogie
The judges can only choose between two.
America has voted. The act leaving the competition and going home is: The Kinetic King
Enjoyed his time here... Representing for the nerds.
SBRS: We've put our whole life into this, sometimes our bodies. It's a great thing to prove to everyone that there's more that comes from Wisconsin than cheese and beer.
Snap: Thank everyone. Thank the judges for my being here. I feel like I will not fail you next time to entertain. I will not fail to entertain, next time.

Judges begin deliberations

Commercials / Segment #6

So, between Smage Bros Riding Show and Snap Boogie.
5th & 6th in audience vote. Last time the judges choose who moves forward.
Sharon: I'd like to put them both through, but I can't. Smage Bros - you can see your passion. You've show to me what you do is incredible. Snap - what can I say about Snap. You've been out there week after week on your own. Its not been a family affair. That's why I am gonna vote for Snap.
Piers: Before last night, I would definitely voted for Snap. Last night I thought the Smage Brothers were sensational. Snap, I didn't like it. The question is should I vote based on what I saw last night or what I've seen before? My vote is for Smage Brothers.
Howie: Snap: You brought street to the theather. Smages - you brought real street to the theater. The question is who would I want to see? Smage Brothers.

So, America, you're top 10 from America's Got Talent are:
Team iLumninate
PopLyfe
Lys Agnes
Miami All Stars
West Springfield Dance Team
Silhouette
Landau Eugene Murphy Jr
Anna Graysman
Landon Swank
Smage Bros Riding Show

Finals next week.

Cya then! ;-)

The acts tonight
The Kinetic King
Fatally Unique
Landon Swank
Gymkana
Summerwind Skippers
Snap Boogie
Anna Graceman
Steven Retchless
Smage Bros Riding Show
Professor Splash
Landau Eugene Murphy Jr.
Silhouettes

Opening Segment
Montage of tonight's acts
Nick comes in on a rope and hangs above the stage (Kinetic King's layout is all over the stage.)
Intro of Judges

NOTE: Each act runs a montage of prior acts, and a short history of them, with judge comments interspersed.

First up
The Kinetic King - a "dominoes" type thing with popsickle sticks, cans, etc.
Hoping for a personal and world record. If it works, he wants to hear "Woo Hoo"s throughout the audience and America.
Faster than before, but it worked!
Piers: Another spectacular performance. Not quite as spectacular as last time, but it was faster, and nice on the eyes. Great you're still here, and good luck.
Sharon: That was sensational. I disagree with Piers in that I loved it because it was faster. I loved all the things flying through the air. How do you think these things up?
Howie: A agree with Sharon, faster is better. The thing is, this was so explosive, but ... I got hit... There's stuff behind me. I love these Rube Goldberg type things.
KK: (Nick: Can you go any further?) To the floor, if I pass out completely!
And a victory Woo Hoo!

Commercials / Segment #2

Fatally Unique - Dance group
Seems they're trying to copy West Springfield Dance Team. Maybe not, but they are a smaller group than WSDT. That could help them in the long run. we'll see.
Sharon: You guys move with such speed and precision, it's really breath-taking to watch you perform. I think this is definitely the year of the mean dance.
Howie: As I said last week, on AGT, this is the year of the dance. You are amazing. I wonder if you are Fatally Unique enough.
Piers: The interesting thing about you guys in the intensity you bring. I look at this stage, and wonder who wants to win $1M? I think after that performance, you want it.
FU: We started out with a unique look. This is where we started from. This is what we want to do.

Commercials / Segment #3

Landon Swank - Magician
Going to play a real-life version of Russian Roulette
Sharon was nervous enough to accidentally hit the buzzer. It was off by the time the act ended.
Audience and judges - Standing Ovation.
Howie: Wow. Absolute Wow. So exciting so scary. My heart is pounding.
Piers: You went through the wild-card. You were very lucky to be here. It's brilliant magic. You have just come very close to getting into the top 10.
Sharon: The whole presentation was fantastic. From the video that looked a bit like a hologram. All our magicians have shown us their big tricks before the finals. You paced yourself.
[I thought it was a little slow, but...]

Commercials / Segment #4

Gymkana - Dance/Acrobatic team
Piers buzzed
Near the end, one guy kicked a fire hoop as he flipped through it, and it fell on him. He and a girl got burned a bit, but stood for the judges.
Piers: The reason I buzzed you, is the same thing as the last round. It gets competitive. I think when it goes as badly wrong as it just went, it's not been a good day at the office.
Nick: I think if you'd not have buzzed them, they wouldn't have been nervous and...
Sharon: You were like lemings tonight. You kept coming and coming. I was looking for the performance factor. I didn't see it. But you were tremendous.
Howie: I disagree with both of them. I take into consideration that ladder thing, you keep coming.
[It was all gymnasts jumping over and through things. Yes, it was dangerous, but nothing like the ladder thing they did, which was spectacular.]

Commercials / Segment #5

Summerwind Skippers - Jumprope team
Piers buzzed right at the end
Sharon: It's so great to see the progression you've made. You have turned into great performers. You've grown so quickly over the last few weeks.
Howie: I told you last time you were here, you won me over. You're edgy... I just wanted to take this moment to apologize. I don't believe you should have been buzzed. I don't think you should be buzzed at this level.
Piers: Unlike Howie, I believe the buzzer's there for a reason. We're judges in a million dollar competition. Tonight you made one, and a pretty bad one at the end. And I want to be consistent, and say if you make two mistakes I'm gonna buzz you. And it breaks my heart because you're one of my favorites

Commercials / Segment #6

Snap Boogie - Hip-hop Dancer
Starts off softly, then kicks into gear.
Howie: I think Snap did great. I was a little concerned at the beginning, but as soon as the music broke down you began to be yourself
Piers: Honestly, I didn't like it. You were one of the freshest, and then tonight, you started off slowly, then it got cheesy.
Sharon: I wasn't crazy about the dancers, but I'm here to judge you. You've got such likability. I wasn't crazy about the choreography of the girls, but that's not you.

Commercials / Segment #7

Anna Graysman - 11yo pianist/singer
Audience and judges standing ovation
Piers: When we get to this stage, I've been pretty tough... I'm looking for people who get better show after shwo. That performance is the best one of the night.
Sharon: I told Motley Crue to watch your performance tonight. How did you come up with that... Because Carrie Underwood did it? I agree with Piers, the best performance of the night.
Howie: I'm going to keep this short and sweet. One word to you: WOW.
Nick: Sharon said she told Motley Crue to watch. What do you think they'll be saying?
Anna: I hope they say "She rocked it out!" ;-)
(She did. She's in.)

Commercials / Segment #8

Steven Retchless - Male Pole Dancer
Piers buzzed
Sharon: That move where it looked like you were walking was amazing. When I heard you were bringing in a production, other dancers, I wondered. It was amazing to watch.
Piers: (You "X"ed steven out of jealousy?) I go based on one criteria? Could I watch this for an hour, and the answer is no.
Howie: I don't necessarily agree with Piers. But we've had a group here before and they're in Vegas. Now was this stronger than what Zuma Zuma did, or that group? I don't know.
[I thought he did a great job. Male pole dancing is usually more about strength. This guy has strength, agility, and grace.]

Commercials / Segment #9

Smage Bros Riding Show
Big Guns tonight. Parents and Grandmother. LOL
Standing O by everyone, including judges.
Piers: I thought that was incredible.
Howie: It was so exciting, I hope the excitement translates.
Sharon: This is a family affair. I love the fact that the whole family lives for what you do.
[I think they've proven that they can sustain a show.]

Commercials / Segment #10

Professor Splash
Diving from 75 feet into an 8' diving tank with the surface flaming. 8' of water. Not diving flat this time. Has a split second to perform his "scoop". Backflip, feet first.
Howie: I know that what you did is an amazing feat.
Piers: It's incredible. BUT, your unique selling point is landing in the very small amount of water. I do have to say you are incredible.
Sharon: You were speeding through the air... I literally blinked, and you were in the water.
[You have to realize... 75 feet in the air... A backflip to land feet first at 60mph in 8 feet of water. I know when I jumped off a 10' board feet first, I hit the bottom of a 10' pool pretty damn quickly. Now add 65 feet to that and shorten the depth of the water... GEEZE.]

Commercials / Segment #11

Landau Eugene Murphy Jr. - singer
Last performance was the first time his kids had seen him perform live.
"I've Got the World on a String"
[Amazing. This guy doesn't TRY to sound like Sinatra or Bennett but does!]
Standing ovation by Sharon & Howie and audience.
Sharon: It's just fantastic. It makes me feel so good when I see you perform. It's cooler than I don't know what... I just hope hope hope America votes tonight.
Howie: You deserve, with that performance, to be in the finals.
Piers: I love you as a guy. Love you as a contestent. I didn't think this was your best performance. Some of the low notes you missed, having said that, when you hit the big notes, I loved it.
Landau - Feels the pressure tremendously. America's gonna vote, Piers... They're gonna vote...

Commercials / Segment #12

Silhouettes - Dance behind the screen
Including youngest performer ever on AGT at 4yo.
"Create the World"
Howie: I think they did phenomenal. Just when you think how can they think of something else, they think of something else.
Piers: I thought it was very good, I didn't think it was great. Tonight's a very tough night. Great, but could have been a little better.
Sharon: Your act is endless because your act can go on and on... I do think tonight wasn't as good as the last two, but I do think you'll come back.
[It wasn't the same, but it showed versitility. I think they'd need something like this in Vegas, so... I thought it was great.]

That's it...

My votes... DAMN! Too many great acts! Only FIVE?
Ok... Ok... Anna Graceman, Steven Retchless, Smage Bros Riding Show, Landau Eugene Murphy Jr., Silhouettes
Though I wouldn't mind if any of the following should also go through: Kinetic King, Professor Splash, and Landon Swank

Cya tomorrow night! We'll see. ;-)

Orville Lounge after-show party

Demi Lavato performs Skyscraper

Commercials / Segment #3

Next Group: PopLyfe and Lys Agnes
America has voted. This is the closest result we've ever had on this show. There's less than 1% on the total. The act going through to the Top 10 is: BOTH OF YOU! [GOOD!]
PopLyfe: I'm so delighted. I just can't hide it.
Lys: Incredible. Last night was a humbling experience.
Howie: I was going crazy. Traditionally one goes home. I was waiting to be devastated. Thank you America.

Next Group: Melissa VillaSenor, Miami All Stars, and Kevin Colis
America has voted. The act going through to the Top 10 is: Miami All Stars
MAS: No way to describe the joy. What is coming next, who knows. It's a very humble and beautiful experience. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you.
Piers: Wherever the party is tonight, I want to come. When you come back to the Top 10, just do what you do best. You are so good.

Commercials / Segment #4

Prince Poppycock performs You Know How I Feel
Nick: How has your life changed since last year?
PP: Oh, it's been amazing! I'm a professional Poppycock, now.

Commercials / Segment #5

New Boyz perform Better with the Lights Off

Last three acts:
Beth Ann Robinson, Daniel Joseph Baker, West Springfield Dance Team
Judges can only choose between two acts.
America has voted. The act leaving the competition and going home is: Beth Ann Robinson
BAR: I've had so much fun. I feel blessed just to be here.
[It's too bad. She's excellent. I hope she finds a place in show-biz, or comes back next year.]

Leaving Daniel Joseph Baker and West Springfield Dance Team
WSDT: This opportunity has been more than we've ever hoped for. We've only had 4 days the last three weeks to practice. This time we'll have two weeks. We have so much more to show you.
DJB: This has been the best time of my life, and being on the AGT stage is the first time I've ever felt I've belonged. And I hope the judges see that.

Judge's decision is next.

Commercials / Segment #6

Montage of the acts who will perform next week

Again, judges are choosing between: Daniel Joseph Baker and West Springfield Dance Team

Biggest and most important decision you've made this season.
Howie: I hate this pressure. WSDT: It is phenomenal what you did. I loved it the first time, didn't like it the next, and then you brought it back. Unlike any other act, you didn't have time to prepare. DJB: I've said it before, you are a star. But I've also said that this is the year of the dance. I'm going to have to go with West Springfield Dance Team.
Piers: Look at the names that have already gone home. I can't believe these two acts are here. Both would normally be in the finals. WSDT: We've loved you. DJB: You belong here. You know that, now. We're going to have to break someone's heart tonight. And the heart I've got to break tonight is ... Daniel. (Daniel nods.) My vote is for West Springfield Dance Team.
DJB: (Is this the new beginning of a whole new confidence for you?) Yes. It's been amazing.

So, the first 5 of the top ten to make it are:
Team iLumninate
PopLyfe
Lys Agnes
Miami All Stars
West Springfield Dance Team

Next week, the 2nd set of 12 vie for spots in the Top 10.

Cya then! ;-)

The first semi-finalists perform.

The acts tonight:
Zuma Zuma
Beth Ann Robinson
Spandau Trio Russian Bar
Kevin Colis
Matt Wilhelm
PopLyfe
West Springfield Dance Team
Melissa Villasenor
Team iLuminate
Daniel Joseph Baker
Miami All-Stars
Lys Agnes

Opening Segment
Montage of tonight's acts interspersed with judges pointing out about pressure and more.

LIVE FROM HOLLYWOOD
12 acts face off. Every week they've had to raise their game.
5 acts will go through to the finals.

Sharon (about the semi-finals): Tough isn't the right word. The atmosphere is dangerous backstage. Everyone is looking at each other... Being good isn't good enough. We don't want predictability and we don't want safe.

First up:
Zuma Zuma - Dance/acrobatic group
Lost one of the members. He fell and landed on his head and broke his neck and died (3 years ago). They want to make him proud.
Wow. Acrobatic for sure.
Piers: What I want to know is, which one of you guys has the rubber body? You're the bendy guy. That's incredible. We look for acts that get better, the audience gets engaged with. For the first act tonight, I think you've done it.
Sharon: I think you're all made of rubber... I love what you do. However, I don't think tonight's performance was better than last time, but I still enjoyed it.
Howie: I think what you do is phenomenal. But tonight, it was lethargic, slower than last time. But I think you're amazing.
[It was a little slower, but I think it was more dangerous.]

Commercials / Segment #2

Nick asks for tryouts for auditions for next year.

Beth Ann Robinson - Dancer
Here to prove a solo dance act can win this competition.
Dance isn't just about moving your body. I put my heart and sole into it.
Nice. She's gorgeous.
Sharon: Another flawless performance from you. I just hope everyone who votes tonight takes into account how hard and dedicated... How dedicated you are.
Howie: One word came out of my mouth... Beautiful. You are beautiful. You're mesmerising. When you dance, you seem to be beyond your years. The question is, how will America feel how this backs up against everything else. I love what you do.
Piers: America should be very proud. Now we're trying to find an act worth $1M dollars. While I was watching you, I don't think we've ever had, in the 6 years we've done the show, a dancer as technically perfect as you.
She said normally, a dance like that takes up to a year. In the competition, she only had a couple of days to put it together.
[She is an excellent dancer, mixing a bit of gymnastics, contortionism, and ballet into it all. I hope America takes note.]

[Man, this is gonna be tough tonight. I already want the first two acts to go through!]

Commercials / Segment #3

Tomorrow - Jenny Lavato, the New Boys, and Prince Poppycock will perform.
Top 5 acts will go through to the top 10.

Spandau Trio Russian Bar
Sharon: I have no idea what they're gonna do to top the last time.
Tonight, they say she will play piano, singing, while the piano flies all over.
Howie: Talk about risk.
Sharon: No one risks their life on the bar like that only to change it up this much.
STRB: No one want to see the same act over and over. I know I don't. There's not much more we can do with the bar.
Piers buzzed.
Howie: Um... You know I'm a big fan of the STRB. You weren't going for comedy here? (No) I think youi made a bad choice. This does not even compare to anything you've ever done.
Piers: Biggest suicide on the show, ever. We didn't vote you through on a spinning piano and you guys spinning through the air, like that.
Sharon: It was disappointing. You're all adults, you make your own decisions... But you came in and you're a mediocre singer. You took a risk and it was dangerous, and I admire your risk.
STRB: I am happy with our decision. We did what we could with the Russian Bar, and there's not much more we could do. So... (They wanted to show they are more than just the Russian Bar.)
[Wow. Like she said, there's not much more they could do with the bar, but I think they should have been more acrobatic. I also understand this could be a "rest break" from the acrobatics, but still... I doubt they'll go through unless someone else messes up. Too bad.]

Commercials / Segment #4

Kevin Colis - Singer (from the YouTube show)
Just a few weeks ago, he was performing in front of his computer. Now he's just a couple of songs from a million dollars. He knows he's up against a lot of great performers (singers).
"Sway to the Rhythm of Love"
Piers buzzed.
Piers: Were you very nervous? (yes). I felt the occasion may be a bit much for you. You missed a few notes in the beginning, then got better.
Sharon: Your performance tonight reminded me something like the Wiggles. Very sweet, very nice, but bland and forgettable. You do have a very good voice.
Howie: The issue is this... You were very lucky to be part of the YouTube show. A lot of them didn't perform up to par. And I don't think you were up to par with the rest of the people.
Kevin: Experience has been amazing. There is a dimension of my singing that has not been done, yet. If America brings me back, it will be done.
[Nice song. Nice singing, but the judges were all right. It would be nice to see him make it though at least one more time, if not to the end, but I don't see it at this time. One of the problems singers will have her, especially inexperienced to this large of crowd, is that you have one song to do. There's no chance to get over your nervousness. When I performed, I had a specific song to do that I didn't have to be quiet on, it wasn't quite as high as my other songs, and it was fun. It woke up the audience, and woke up my voice. By the time it was over, I was ready to do slower quieter songs. Singers here don't have that.]

Commercials / Segment #5

Matt Wilhelm - Winner of YouTube Auditions - Stunt Cyclist
Says he'll top last performance by a lot.
This is the ride of my life and I'm gonna ride it until my wheels fall off.
He fell once. THought He came back well.
Sharon: I know that this is a routine that you put together because it was a reflection of what you grew up with - bullying. I'm sad that you fell, but...
Howie: I'm a huge fan of yours. America is a huge fan of yours. I hope America forgives you for the mistake.
Piers: Yeah. I think with certain acts there has to be a little tolerance because of how difficult it is. I don't know that everyone knows just how difficult what you do is. The question is, how long can I watch you do this for. I think that in about 15 minutes, I'd be bored. It's how you could make it a show. I think you're in trouble tonight.
Matt: My whole story is you pick yourself up and keep going. I hope you do put me through because I have something so crazy next time...

Commercials / Segment #6

PopLyfe - Band
You know how most people get butterflies in their stomachs? We have elephants.
They're doing "Come Together" by the Beatles tonight.
If they do it right, they in. If they do it wrong, first flight to ... [wherever they're from]
Sharon and Howie - standing ovation along with most of the crowd.
Howie: Stepping it up. Who knew there was a step of from where they were last time. You're already headliners... You are stars. That was a headlining act. Keep it going.
Piers: The big challenge inthe semi-finals, is you have to choose a song that is so big that if you get it right, it will shoot you foward. I watched you tonight... I just suddenly realized we are watching a band that within the next 2-3 years, will be a huge band in this country.
Sharon: Great great song. I honestly think that I'm looking at a winner here.
PL: We feel blessed to be able to perform. Happy to be able to show everybody.

West Springfield Dance Team - YouTube group
Sharon: Imperative they show me something different tonight.
They are the only act to appear 3 weeks in a row. And they have to come up with something new and different each time, usually in 4 days.
To "Crazy Train" (start) and then more theatrical.
Piers: You seem like such nice people and then YAHHHH. (Had 4 days to choreograph.) I thohgt that the last one wasn't as good as the first one, and I thought this one was better than the last two.
Sharon: It's been three weeks. I feel like I'm part of the team now. WSDT, you pulled it off again. You're choreographers are brilliant. Your timing is always spot on as a team.
Howie: You stand out. You deserve to be here. I think you're going to continue in the competition.
[They are a bit like "Thriller" meets techno and more theatrics at times. They are good at what they do, and it looks like they do have the possibility of a good set of shows. If they can do things like this in only 4 days, what could they do with longer? We'll see.]

Commercials / Segment #7

Melinda Villasenor - Impressionist
Not bad.
Sharon: You did so well tonight. You did the impossible, because the impossible thing to do is make him (Piers) laugh, and he was laughing hard.
Howie: As a stand up comic, you write the stuff, show up here, and perform it. You know I'm a fan.
Piers: The thing that worked tonight is you stuck to 4 impressions you know you can do well. I liked it. America likes it.
[She's very good at what she does. It's a bit jarring when she switches, and not everything is completely funny, but they at least make you smile. We'll see with her.]

Commercials / Segment #8

Team iLuminate
Sharon: One thing I've learned... Last time they were fantasic. This time it has to be better.
New technology onstage tonight.
Standing ovation by audience and judges.
Howie: You know what I just watched? I just watched a million dollars. The only thing that scares me... I just hope that people vote. I hope they don't think that you're so good, you'll make it through. You gotta vote, if you want someone to win...
Piers: The great thing about you is, each time you come with something new. I really think you're an exciting act. I've got every confidence America will vote for you.
Sharon: I just can't believe we have you with us. You should have been famous before. Terry Fator went to Vegas and made a $1M deal... You're (Howie) wrong. They're a $100M act.
[They are good. They are exciting. And as the judges are saying, you have to vote. A number of acts didn't go through because people thought they'd help someone who needed it. (Think Jackie Evancho, last year. He was good, but she WAS better...)

Commercials / Segment #9

Daniel Joseph Baker - Singer
Piers: Daniel is very talented. Unique. And what I want to see from him is a great performance.
Sharon and Howie (and Audience) Standing Ovation
Piers: When you started, I thought what is he doing here. Then as I got into it, I started liking it. In the context of a show, and you are a pure Vegas showman...
Sharon: I really adore you. You make everybody smile when you perform. Plus the fact that you're camp as Christmas. And I love you.
Howie: I've said it before. You are a star. You are yourself. But you can't do anything different. Just be yourself. You're wonderful.
DJB: (A little emotional?) Yes. Because my mother and father are in the audience. This is the first time my father has seen me perform since Houston. And I love them so much.

Commercials / Segment #10

Miami All-Stars - Dance group
We are taking a huge gamble tonight. we are still working on it. It's not perfect yet.
Wow. Standing O by everyone, including Piers.
Sharon: I thought I was watching a movie. The choreography was perfection. Every time I see you guys, I get all worked up. I wish there was something negative, but there isn't.
Howie: As far as dancers, Team iLuminate and you are my favorite dancers.
Piers: I just want to say I think that my favorite performance of the whole night. That was great.
MAS: We have all styles of dancing. Not just ballroom dancing and swing. And if you vote for us, we'll bring something different.
[That was great.]

Commercials / Segment #11

Lys Agnes - Operatic singer
The most her she's felt since she stopped singing when her fiance passed.
Had problems with her throat through the week. Antibiotics from Dr.
Standing Ovation - Everyone.
Sharon: Just when I thought I had seen it all tongiht. You came on. Took my breath away. your confidence.
Piers: Finally. You do something that moves me. It was a theatrical tour-de-force. How America is going to vote will be interesting.
Howie: You know what I want to do to you? (Lys looks surprised.)... NO... No... I want to get her votes!
Lys: I'm just so relieved I could sing through it.

Five acts going through to the top-10...

My votes - This is VERY tough. Too many good acts:
Team iLuminate, Daniel Joseph Baker, Miami All-Stars, PopLyfe and Lys Agnes (not necessarily in that order)
though I wouldn't mind if Zuma Zuma, Matt Wilhelm or West Springfield Dance Team made it.

Wow. America usually gets it right. VOTE.

Cya tomorrow for the results show. ;-)

View of acts in the green room.
Cast of Les Miserables and Colby Kale perform tonight.
Judges' introduction.

Howie: I think it was a night of redemption. Everyone here deserved to be here, and most of them... most of them rose to the occasion.

For each group: There's a package showing each of the three performing, judge's comments, and the acts coming off the stage.

First group:
Shevonne, Yellow Design Stunt Team, West Springfield Dance Team
All are Sharon's acts.
Sharon: I wish I could (predict how America voted). I've got my horror group, Shevonne who I thought was overlooked in the auditions, and my stunt team... I don't get it.
The act going through to the semi-finals is: West Springfield Dance Team
(You're kidding. I didn't think they were as good, as the judges said last night.)
Sharon saved them last week, bringing them back.
(I thought they were great last week, but a little slow this week. They're gonna have to pick it up a lot next time they're on.)

Commercials / Segment #2

Cast of Les Miserables performs One Day More

Commercials / Segment #3

Next group:
Avery & the Calico Hearts, Charles Peachock, Those Funny Little People, The Kinetic King
Piers: (Two acts are your picks, and we know how you feel about one of the others.)
Avery - I think your talented. Charles - My pick. Problems last night. Those Funny Little People - If you have been picked, I will get in a taxi, drive to the airport, fly away from America, and never return. (Howie: If you'd have said that last night, you'd have guaranteed them a win.) The King - You remind me of Rocky Balboa. If there's any justice, King, YOU will be in the Semi-Finals.
America has voted. The act going through to the semi-finals is: The Kinetic King
KK: Oh, goody another week of work, frazzled nerves, and the chance to look goofy in front of millions, again. (Piers comes up on stage, and bows to the King.) Wow... Royalty!

Next group:
Landan Swank and Seth Grable (means only one went through)
Howie: I think it's a real tough thing. I can't choose.
America has voted. The act going through to the semi-finals is: Landon Swank
LS: It's definitely amazing. Thank you Piers for bringing me back. Thank America for all the comments you gave me.
Howie: I'm glad you made it. The only thing that gets me is I have to sit here (and listen to Piers gloat). (Sharon agrees with Howie.)

Semi-Finals: Montage of the acts in the semi-finals.
In voice-overs:
Piers: This year, we have some of the most talented acts we've ever had.
Sharon: The semi-finals is the best of the best. I do not know how America is going to choose.
Howie: Now it gets serious.

Commercials / Segment #4

Colby Kale performs Brighter Than the Sun

Commercials / Segment #5

Last acts:
Summerwind Skippers, J Chris Newberg, and The Fiddleheads
The judges will decide, and only pick from two acts.
America has voted. The act going home and leaving the competition is: J Chris Newberg
Are you shocked? JCN: No. I had so much fun...

The two final acts: The Fiddleheads and Summerwind Skippers:
SS: We want to show you want we can do. Sharon, you compared us to Stomp last night. We want to come back and show you just how far we can take it.
F: First, we've been with you (SS) since Atlanta and we love you. We thank you, America. We're a little surprised people like us anyway. We want to come back and give you even more.

Commercials / Segment #6

The acts the judges are voting on:
Summerwind Skippers and The Fiddleheads
Piers: We have two talented acts. We've seen you both 4 times. It's a difficult decision, particularly Howie, because if you guys go home, he doesn't get any, and I get 3. SS - I think you've gotten better as it's gone along. And you guys: Fiddleheads:
Howie: I have to say I brought back the Fiddleheads, and you did what I asked you to do. I have to go with who I brought back: The Fiddleheads.
Sharon: Two great acts. SS - I've seen you grow more than anyone else, and so I'm going to cut to the chase right now, and say, Summerwind Skippers.

Opening Segment

Judges chose twelve of the acts that didn't make it through the first time that they thought maybe should have. Each judge brought back four. If they don't make it tonight, that's it.

Judges introduction.

Piers? Confident about your picks? Yes. But my collegues weren't so rigerous.

First up
The Kinetic King (brought back by Piers)
Piers: He's either totally brilliant, or an utter disaster.
KK: Been obsessing over his last disaster. The only way past it is to go even bigger.
It works! Judges standing ovation.
Piers bows to the king.
Piers: KK, everyone in America doubted you after the last time. Tonight, you proved you're the king... you're the man.
Sharon: What can I say? I bow down to you, my king.
Howie: There's no man in America you can hand a soda can, a popsickle stick, and a ball to who can do what you do.
KK: (How do you feel?) I went from the fetal position to wanting to go into the fetal position of victory right now (and he does).
[It's a great act, but it takes so long to set up, and is over so quickly. How could he sustain a 90 minute act in Vegas?]

Commercials / Segment #2

One of Howie's favorites
Those Funny Little People
Of course Piers buzzed, and covered his face.
"Constantinople"
Howie: IU don't know how proud I should be. To be honest, I didn't see a lot of the act, because I was watching Piers' face. I cannot say how entertained I was by Piers' eyes. A lot of acts can't elicit that type of emotion.
Piers: These little people should be with the person who brought them back and turned the show into a mockery.
Sharon: I feel you definitely brought in the big guns. What can I say about the camel. Very nice.
[Its a fun group, but not at the expense of better ones just to piss off Piers]

Commercials / Segment #3

Sharon's first pick
Avery and the Calico Hearts
Sharon: I had to bring them back. They're adorable and I love them.
Howie: I don't know that they're a headline act. They're more like a Saturday morning show.
"Dynamite" (A-o/Echo)
Piers is an asshole... Buzzed 'em.
Sharon: I am so proud you are my pick. You make me smile. You make me happy. You are very talented. You did great.
Piers Ogre: (Are you going to buzz every act that's not yours? - Sharon: Of course he is.) Ladies, let me address the ladies. I really like you. It's not personal. I honestly think it's a little early. When your voices mature, I really think we're going to see you again.
Howie: I think they're adorable, and I think they deserve a TV show. But I don't think they deserve a buzz. (Piers: But you don't think people in fuzzy suits deserve a buzz.)
Avery: So amazing to be back again. Thank you Sharon.

Commercials / Segment #4

Tomorrow: The cast of Les Miserable

Howie's pick
Seth Grabel - Magician
Howie: I felt incredibly guilty I sent Seth home. I wondered how I could make it up to him. Bring him back!
He brings out three kids that look and are dressed like the judges.
Howie: Wow. I don't want to take all of the credit but I think I did good by bringing you back. I think you showed I have good taste.
Piers: I thought it was exactly like Howie. A lot of show. A lot of flash, but when you examine the content, it's lacking.
Sharon: She talks to the little girl dressed like her. You could do anything. All I care about is those little people up there. You've got my vote.

Commercials / Segment #5

Sharon's pick
Shevonne - Singer (let go in Vegas)
Sharon: Took my breath away. I hope that people realize that this is the first time you've performed on this stage. You have a great range in your voice, and you're beautiful. I'm just so happy you cambe back for us, because I think you did yourself proud.
Howie: In listening to you, I think we made a mistake in letting you go in Vegas. I'm thrilled Sharon brought you back.
Piers: I find myself in a very unusual position of agreeing with Howie. It was a little pitchy in parts, but that's why we liked you, and we may have been wrong in Vegas. With a little more work, I think you could be great.

Commercials / Segment #6

Sharon's pick
West Springfield Dance Team (the "scary" dance team)
WSDT: Something like this usually takes us 6 months to work out. We're doing this in 6 days.
Sharon: First of all I have to say you are the first theme horror dance team I've ever seen. I think it's unique, and there's an audience for it.
Howie: You're very good, as Sharon said. I don't think this is a step up from the last performance.
Piers: Sorry. I'm agreeing with Howie again. Howie has a good point. I like the theme, but overall, I don't think it's better than last performance.
[I agree. They have a good act, but I think the "only a week to get this together" thing got them.]

Howie's pick
J Chris Newberg
Piers: I am pretty confident, no matter what he does tonight, I'm going to hate it.
He roasts Piers, and does a good job of it.
They keep showing Piers, and he tries to keep from smiling.
Howie: You brought it. That was funny. Each time you brought something different, but that beats them all.
Piers: Let me be honest here (Howie buzzes him). Deeply offensive, woefully inaccurate, and funny.
Sharon: (Was hiding under the table.) You've got balls of steel. Amazing. It was very good... Very very good.
[Oh, that was GREAT. He's got one of my votes tonight!)

Commercials / Segment #7

Sharon's pick
Yellow Designs Stunt Team - BMX Bikers
Sharon: I brought these guys back because I love the concept... And they proved to me that BMX biking does belong in the theater.
[One of the guys fell again, but Piers didn't buzz]
Sharon: This is the first time I've ever seen a pirate on a BMX, and it works. I've said it before, you guys really do belong here.
Howie: I agree. I love that you've taken BMX and added a story.
Piers: What is quite strange is this is the only act where you make a mistake, it reminds me of how dangerous this all is. I felt the movement you've made in this competition is better than almost any act.

Commercials / Segment #8

Piers' choice
Charles Peachock - Juggler
CP: Knew it was a risk going away from the dangerous juggling. They want danger, danger's coming.
Dropped a knife while he had a sword spinning over his head, and couldn't pick it up.
Piers: Honestly I think you blew it. Normally I buzz jugglers when you drop something. I didn't because I brought you back. But when you only do two big tricks and flub one of them, it's glaring. (I know.)
Sharon: I know it's a very dangerous trick, and I do feel for you. But very nice to see you again.
Howie: There's not much more to say. I'm sorry you dropped it.
[But I'd choose him over some of the others... We'll see. I mean, he was spinning a sabre sword over his head on the tip of a long straight sword, and was starting to juggle 3 knives when one dropped. GEEZE!]

Commercials / Segment #9

Howie's last pick
The Fiddleheads - Bluegrass band
Howie: They deserve one more change. Reason is they didn't do what they normally do.
F: We've already been eliminated so we know what that's like. We don't want to go through that again.
Piers buzzed, of course.
Howie: The reason I picked them was I wanted to give them a chance. I think tonight you brought it. This audience was all on it's feet.
Piers: This group doesn't work as a group. (Booed by audience.) I said from the start that I think you are a good lead singer, but the group doesn't work.
Sharon: No I don't (agree with Piers). I felt tonight you were back in your comfort zone. (Piers argues, saying he should be in a different type of group.)
FH: These guys are awesome. They're better than I am.

Commercials / Segment #10

Piers' pick
Summerwind Skippers - Jump Ropers
Piers: Wasn't a big fan until the first live show. I think they deserve another chance.
SS: Bringing in an element of danger. (Flaming jump rops)
Piers: The reason I brought you back is you made it come alive for me. You made a big mistake, you know it, but it's how you recover. If you can recover well, the audience will come with you.
Sharon: When you first auditioned, I thought "Who were these people". And, if I may quote Piers: "Skipping is sexy".
Howie: I didn't see how skipping could be a show. Tonight you changed my mind. You are a headlining show.
SS: We're totally excited. We did what we came to do. We're super-stoked right now.

Commercials / Segment #11

Final act - Piers' choice
Landon Swank - Illusionist/Magician
Piers: Amazed he didn't make it. He's slick.
Howie: He's got to be bigger and better.
Underwater, hands behind back, neck changed to floor of tank.
Piers: I'm so glad I'm the one to bring you back. You're a natural magician.
Sharon: Landon, darling, now that's what I call sexy. You are a sexy magician. Fabulous trick.
Howie: I want to say that that was fabulous. We do not have a quota. I think Seth did a great job. The other magician did great. it's not a contest between Piers and me. (Piers: Yes it is.) Howie: Why are you... America... There's not a quota. There can be two magicians. You can choose any kind of act. Pick of the phone and put through who you like.

That's it.

Tomorrow, the results show.

My choices: J Chris Newberg, Yellow Designs Stunt Team, Charles Peachock, Landon Swank
Of course, there are others I wouldn't mind seeing go through, but I thought these were the best, tonight.

Cya then. ;-)

Montage of last night's acts.
Live from Hollywood.
Five YouTube stars will be performing tonight. (Missed the names, at this time.)
Howie: The fact that someone can record themselves in their bedroom, then come here and perform live on TV, is phenomenal. There are several who have risen above and are in line for the $1,000,000.

First group: Gymkana and Powerhouse
Piers: I am surprised to see both up there. I thought both acts did very well last night. I'm very sad that one of you are going home.
The act going through to the semi-finals is: Gymkana
[The right choice]
Nick: Last night was the first time you performed on a big stage. How does it feel that America liked you?
G: Amazing.
Sharon: It's just brilliant that America has put you throught, and congratulations.

Next set of acts
Matt Wilhelm, TNC Elite, and Aeon
Howie: (Can you call it?) Matt you were spectacular, Aeon you were edgy, and TNC, I love what you do, but don't think it was enough. I think it's between Matt and Aeon
The act going through to the semi-finals is: Matt Wilhelm
Nick: You said you gave the performance of your life. America must have thought so to.
Matt: I think it's amazing. Last week I was sitting on my couch, and now I'm here...
Piers: I'm very happy. I thought America got it bang on. I watched it last night when I got home, and thought, you know what? This guy could go all the way.

Commercials / Segment #4

Rebecca Black performs part of Friday

Let's find out who else is moving through to the semi-finals
Kalani Basketball Freestyle, Brett Daniels, Kevin Colis, and Breena Bell
Either Kevin or none of them, and I can't really see that!
The act going through to the semi-finals is: Kevin Colis
Kevin: I'm overwhelmed by all the support. America, you're blowing my mind.
Howie: You know what, in the realm of last night, you deserve to be here. But you are in a tough category. But I think you can give them (the other acts) a run for their money.

Commercials / Segment #5

Up and Over It - Hands
(The couple from the McDonalds' commercial!)
COOL! MUCH better than the McD's commercial.

Last group:
West Springfield Dance Team, Beth Ann Robinson, and Gabe Rocks
The judges will pick from two acts. One of you is heading home right now.
The act leaving the competition and going home is: Gabe Rocks (I knew it.)

We are down to our last two acts. What do you want to say to the judges:
WSDT: We did our best, and are grateful for the opportunity. We have a lot more thrillers...
BAR: I've worked really hard and have a lot more to show America.

Judges vote after the break

Commercials / Segment #6

Beth Ann Robinson and the West Springfield Dance Team
Judges have deliberated
Piers: Two very good dance acts. You both deserve to be here. WSDT: Very good, would like to see you again. Beth: very good... The question is who would I like to see more in the next round: Beth
Sharon: Beth you're a perfectionist. I know you will go on to do great things in your life. WSDG: I love what you do. I would like to see you again in this contest.
Howie: WSDG I love your originality. BAR: You have such talent and grace. This is the year of the dance on AGT. The act I'm choosing is: Beth Ann.
WSDT: Amazing. We're so happy to have come here. We're so grateful.
Sharon: I'm truly happy for Beth Ann, but I feel WS should go through too. Next week is the wild-card show. I think there's so much potential there. I want to say, I'm going to bring back WSDT as my wildcard.

They go through the list of wildcards for next week, but do it so quickly, I can't get them all down, so I've not listed them here.

The acts that won tonight:
Kevin Colis
Beth Ann Robinson
Gymkana
Matt Wilhelm

And Sharon has already said WSDT is going though as her wildcard for next week.

Cya then! ;-)

America's Got Talent (AGT) (2011) - 6th Season - 08/09/2011 - Live YouTube Acts

Links:
America's Got Talent at NBC
Full Episodes, Clips and Videos
Official America's Got Talent Facebook page

Live from Hollywood
Tonight is the YouTube acts that have been selected to perform live.
For many, it's the first time they've performed before a live audience.

Opening Sequence

Judge introduction.
Piers: (Hidden stars tonight?) My favorite show because anything can happen. Some are pretty good, and some have potential to go horribly wrong. we found one of the biggest new stars in America last year (Jackie Evancho).
From the 12 acts, four will go through.

The acts tonight:
TNC Elite
Brett Daniels
Gabe Rocks
Aeon
Breena Bell
Kevin Colis
Beth Ann Robinson
Gymkana
Kalani Basketball Freestyle
West Springfield Dance Team
Matt Wilhelm
Powerhouse

First Act
TNC Elite - Cloggers
To "I Got a Feeling" - Then "acapella" tapping.
Piers: I'm not a massive clogging fan. I thought the choreography could be a little tighter. General impression: Pretty Good.
Sharon: Clogging with contemporary music? I don't know. I felt they were fighting each other. You're very good at what you do, and it's great to see you performed very very well together.
Howie: I think you're really really good cloggers, but I think you need to do something very spectacular.

Commercials / Segment #2

Brett Daniels - Illusionist
Howie: He is not a young man. If he doesn't make it now, he may never.
Brett: Has a lot riding on this.
Marilyn Monroe tribue
Piers buzzed about the time I said he would say it's a little slow.
Nice. Slow, but nice.
Sharon: I'm just asking Howie where she went. I like the premise, the Marilyn schtick, but it was a little slow.
Howie: I think the magic, the illusion is unusual. I thought the performance... Do you think it went well? (Yes) Well, if you think it's gone well...
Piers: How can you (Howie) think it went well? Here's the thing. The trick was fine. It's an old trick. My problem was the middle bit, and I got a bit bored. (Howie sets off a fart machine. Piers takes exception, saying it's disrespectful to the act. Sharon laughs hysterically. Nick says that Piers is the one who farted. Piers can't go on.)
Nick to Brett: How do you think it went?
Brett: I think it went well. And I can smell that up here.

Commercials / Segment #3

Gabe Rocks - Bulldog act
Piers: Anyone that thinks that Gabe is going to make it though to the semi-finals is barking up the wrong tree.
Sets up a child's rocking horse and rocks on it. Impression of Piers (buzzing). How does the buzzer make you feel as a contestant (pee on Piers - Piers buzzed then). Waved good-bye after skateboard.
Piers: I've had a juvenile delinquent setting off stink bombs, a bulldog raising his leg on me... I can't wait to see the back of it.
Sharon: From experience, I know how hard it is to train a bulldog. Absolutely sensational. This dog is worth a million dollars.
Howie: I believe that Gabe is going to steal America's hearts. Just look at that face.
Nick: What can we expect from Gabe. (He has a lot of tricks.)

Commercials / Segment #4

Next week, the wild-card show (acts brought back by the judges)
Tomorrow, the acts going through to the semi-finals.

Aeon - Urban Acrobats
Piers buzzed
Pretty good.
Piers: Take seriously a million dollar competition. I just thought it was poorly executed... poorly choreographed. No lacking in confidence. The performance has to meet the ego. To me the egos have landed with a large thump tonight. Sorry.
Sharon: You see this all the time in parks and on Venice Beach. It was repetitive to me.
Howie: I disagree with both of them. I love that you blended what you do with music.
Aeon: I don't think they understand the physicality, precision, etc.
Piers: I understand. I just don't think it was very good.

Commercials / Segment #5

Breena Bell - Dancer/Contortionist (little girl)
Nick: Piers Morgan if you buzz her you are truly evil.
Piers buzzed
Cute. Some things too long.
Piers: I believe in keeping the competition absolutely honest. I think you're a gymnast, not a dancer. I think that this kind of act doesn't quite work.
Sharon: I think it makes you very happy when you do your act. However, saying that, I must agree with Piers, I think it's a little early for you. I did enjoy your act, and you're a delightful little girl.
Howie: I loved watching you. I do believe you have a shot of this competition ... when you're a little older. Will you come back in a couple of years? (Yes)

Commercials / Segment #6

Kevin Colis - Singer
Fiance signed him up for the competition.
Piers: He has a soul.
Good job! I liked it.
Howie: I think you did great. And I think you deserve to be here. The question I have, though, with other singers in this competition...
Piers: I'm trying to imagine how you feel. (Everything I've ever dreamed of.) You have an incredible voice. The stage performance could use some work. I think you could be two songs from a million dollars.
Sharon: Wait until it becomes second nature to you. You will be phenomenal. I agree with Piers. We are not strong on male singers. I believe you have a chance.

Beth Ann Robinson - Dancer
Howie: Always a big challenge for solo dancers to fill out a stage.
Blend of acrobat and ballet. - Nice.
Piers: I think the show's warming up. I think that was pretty good. My question is: Can a solo act like this win AGT? If it comes down to talent, grace and soul, you've got a chance.
Sharon: When you dance you float through the air. At 14 to be able to move like that, it's exceptional.
Howie: I agree. You look like you eat, breath and sleep dancing. Even if you don't go through, I think you'll be a star.
Beth Ann: I feel so special on stage. This week has been so fun.

Commercials / Segment #7

On the show tomorrow: King of the Hill, and several other YouTube sensations.

Gymkana - Acrobatic team
Typically perform in front of school kids.
Coolness!
Sharon: I cannot believe that you guys are not professional. It's amazing your coordination. It reminded me of an old Busby Berkley movie.
Howie: You come under the category of "What will they think of next?" You deserve to be here. That's amazing.
Piers: I think you showed a lot of strength and discipline. I think you have to think of repetition. Absolutely brilliant.
G: It was so much fun to share what we do with America.
[I think they have a good chance.]

Commercials / Segment #8

Kalani Basketball Freestyle - Obvious
Howie: Kalani is a one-man Harlem Globetrotter.
Piers buzzed when a ball fell on trying to do two spinning on one finger.
Howie: I'm sorry to see that last ball fall.
Piers: You're good with the juggling of the balls. I gave you the benefit of the doubt the first time, but when you dropped the second, I had to buzz you.
Sharon: You were uncomfortable, but it made me nervous for you.
Kalani: The stage is a big difference than the playgrounds in Hawaii.

Commercials / Segment #9

West Springfield Dance Team - Hip-Hop Dance Team
Howie: Dance bar has been set very high this year.
They WANT to be scary.
Piers: You're one the acts I'm most intrigued by on YouTube, but you never know. The question was could you live up to the potential I saw. The answer: yes. Good job.
Sharon: Loved it.
Howie: I said in the package before, you're gonna have to be great. I'm going to say, you are great. Good luck. I think America's gonna push you ahead.

Commercials / Segment #10

Next week Judges choose 12 wild-card acts.

Matt Wilhelm - Stunt Cyclist
Howie: Break dancing on a bike. Seems to have taken things from other acts in the years before, and combined them.
Dark and under blacklights.
Sharon: Mad Matt. Really really great act. That bike is your dance partner. I've never seen an act like this before. Very special. Very different.
Howie: America never gets it wrong. There's a reason America gave you more votes than any other YouTube act. I think you have an advantage.
Piers: Is it true you submitted your act with your cell phone? (Yes). Just like Jackie Evancho last year, you've come from nowhere. And that cell phone will take you very close to $1,000,000.

Remember, you decide who will be going through, and who will go home.

Commercials / Segment #11

Powerhouse - HS Show Choir
Sharon: Show Choirs are so in right now. I really like Powerhouse.
Firework
Howie buzzed!
Piers: In a very strange way that did make me very happy. Glee meets Star Trek meets a two-ton vat of cheese. That's the cheesiest thing I've ever seen, but it did make me very happy.
Sharon: Made me very happy. Fabulous. Loved the song, the whole nine yards.
Howie: I wasn't happy. Glee has set that bar. I thought that was very glee like. It sounds like a high-school rendition of what they do on Glee. (Well DUH Howie!)
Piers: Let me get this straight. You preferred the skate-boarding bulldog to these talented kids. (Yes.) Then we know where the bar is for Howie.

My choices: Kevin Colis, Beth Ann Robinson, Gymkana, Matt WilhelmThough I would like to see others make it, too.

Results show tomorrow night.

Cya then! ;-)
