Spammers

Just a quick note... Doesn't it chap your ass when you post anything, and spammers are the one and only comments you get? I wouldn't be surprised to see another Dish Hopper spam comment here. (Yes, I know I just did their job for them, but this is a complaint, and I hope considered a NEGATIVE remark since it's about SPAM!) :-P

Joe: Time on the show was wonderful. Thank you all for being given the opportunity to be on this stage.

The journeys of Tom Cotter and Olate Dogs (Montages)

America has voted. The WINNER of the $1,000,000 and the star of the headline show in Las Vegas is: OLATE DOGS!
Nick asked how they felt, and with all the screaming, I couldn't hear what they said.

America had weird voting tastes this season. But then again, Olate Dogs were great, too. Not necessarily MY cup of tea, but...

Congratulations, Olate Dogs.
And Tom Cotter - You are fantastic. This show will make sure you go further.

Good luck to ALL the acts on the show this year, especially those who made it past the first rounds. This has been a great season.

Once again, OLATE DOGS is the winner this year.

Cya next year! ;-)

America's Got Talent (AGT) 2012 - 09/12/2012 - Live Finals Show

From NBC:
All AGT Videos
Season 7 Episodes
Season 7 Highlights

Six acts will perform live tonight.
The Untouchables (Kid dance group)
Olate Dogs (Dog act)
David Garibaldi and his CMYKs (Painter)
William Close (Makes huge instruments & plays them)
Tom Cotter (Comedian)
Joe Castillo ("Sand painter")
America will vote on the ONE act to win the show this season. Results show tomorrow night.

This is gonna be one tough night to vote. Too many really good acts.

First up: David Garibaldi and his CMYKs (Painting/Dancing act)
Howard: It was an outstanding job. This piece of art I would hang in my home. I had no idea what you were painting (Einstein).
Sharon: It was amazing. You listened to Howard about what he said about the timing. It was fantastic.
Howie: I can think of a better way to start the show than you.
Nick: Why did you paint Einstein as your last painting?
David; Einstein is a symbol of creativity and innovation, and that's a goal for us.
(I love this guy's work.)

Segment #2

Next up: Tom Cotter (Comedian)
Standing Ovation by all including Judges.
Howie: I think they're (the audience) is saying what I want to say. You just scratched and clawed your way to the top tonight.
Howard: There are times, even with 90 seconds, I wish the act were over already. You always leave me wanting me.
Sharon: First time we've ever had a comic in our final and I congratulate you. But I know there a lot farther you are going to be going.
Nick: Trying to get to this level for 25 years. What would winning mean to you?
Tom: You've taken a defibrilator and jacked it into my career. I have no words for that.
(I think he keeps getting better and better.)

Commercials
Segment #3

Next up: The Untouchables
Sharon Standing O with some of crowd
Sharon: You excelled yourself tonight. You've shown us ever type of dance. It was fantastic. There were stunts in there. You are on the stage with adults, teenagers and under... Well done.
Howie: I'm going to be totally honest with you. I don't know that I love it as much as the last time. I'm just saying...
Howard: I'm thinking about 8 year olds running around with a million dollars. Can you imagine. Every line was perfection.
Untouchables: We're (the kids) are the future of America.
(This is one of the best dance groups I've seen on this show.)

Commercials
Segment #4

Next up: Joe Castillo (Sand Artist)
Tribute to AGT (First pic is Nick. He changes to Howie, then Sharon, then Howard (with a beret!)
Howard: I think this is terrific. That's sand he's working with. You're phenomenal. I'm glad you're in the finals.
Howie: Every week you've been so inspirational. People don't realize the plight of the judges. That we are so interchangeable you You've touched my heart.
Sharon: I will say I would have liked it if you did something more spiritual, again... (Howie interrupts, and Sharon argues with him.)
(I am always amazed by Joe's artwork and (usually) story.)

Commercials
Segment #5

Next up: William Close and the Earth Harp Collective (Creates huge instruments & plays them)
Standing Ovation by all
Howie: Every single time you step it up. You add to it. You're like Cirque du Soliel. Wherever you end up in the contest, I want to buy tickets and come see you.
Sharon: You are a visionary. You my darling will end up bigger than Cirque du Soliel. This is just the beginning for you, William.
Howard: I think this was an intelligent decision by you. The instrumentation, the woman spinning in the air. This is a million dollar win for you.
WC: I'm really grateful to be on this stage. This is a great country. I'm just super-excited...
(He has added and changed with every show... Better and better. That he makes the auditorium an instrument is amazing. He could easily win and incorporate all the other acts into his.)

Commercials
Segment #6

Final act: Olate Dogs
(They are the only dog act ever to have made it into the finals.)
Sharon: This is just pure love on this stage. I just love it.
Howard: If we saw any one of these individual tricks on YouTube... I've been upstaged by a dog, wouldn't be the first time... In my mind, I keep going between a comedian, an earth harp and you guys.
Howie: From the start this was a great act. These dogs are amazing. America, you've got to vote vote vote.
(Sorry. Missed what OD had to say, here. I have only seen some of these "stunts" in a very few circus shows, and it's been a VERY long time. It's great that most of the dogs, I believe, are rescue dogs. And they obviously love the dogs and the dogs them very much. And they do great!)

Howard: The judges no longer have control. The people have the control.
Sharon: Best final in seven years. Amazing show, but America we need you.
Howie: It's up to America. You have to vote. Vote. VOTE! The best show ever. Thank you.

So remember, we are to pick one act out of these six:
The Untouchables (Kid dance group)
Olate Dogs (Dog act)
David Garibaldi and his CMYKs (Painter)
William Close (Makes huge instruments & plays them)
Tom Cotter (Comedian)
Joe Castillo ("Sand painter")

Wow. I can't call it. As I said before, They could ALL be combined into a single show (and they will be for at least one tour), but I mean as a single permanent act in Vegas. Might be a little hard to fit Tom into the combined act, but then again, the other performers have to take breaks, right? LOL Amazing show.

Simply for the uniqueness, I would say William Close, with David Garibaldi and Joe Castillo close behind. But I think the "artsy" acts are going to cancel each other out, and it's going to end up Tom Cotter. You know what? HE could combine all six acts into a single show instead of the other way around. He would/could be the glue that holds it all together.

Good luck to them all. And, as I've said a million times before, I certainly hope that directors, producers, and agents are watching. Every one of tonight's acts, and many of those who didn't make it this far, deserve to become stars.

Results show tomorrow night with a lot of great performances scheduled.

Cya then! ;-)

America's Got Talent (AGT) 2012 - 09/06/2012 - Live Semi-Finals #2 Results

Haunted by Hero and Train will perform tonight. And one of the prior acts will perform.

From NBC:
All AGT Videos
Season 7 Episodes
Season 7 Highlights

So, tonight, the acts are:
All That! (Dance crew)
Sebastian (El Charro De Oro) (10 yo Mariachi Singer)
The Magic of Puck (Magician)
Clint Cavallo (Bird act)
Jacob Williams (Young-looking Comedian)
Shanice and Maurice Hayes (Father/Daughter singing duo)
All-Wheel Sports (Action Variety act)
Tim Hockenberry (Singer)
The Untouchables (Latin Dancers - Oldest is 13yo)
Olate Dogs (Dog act)
Lightwire Theater (Entertainers with light)
David Garabaldi and his CMYKs (Entertainer with paint)

My choices tonight (ONLY THREE?! GEEZE!): Tim Hockenberry, Lightwire Theater, David Garabaldi, though if The Untouchables and/or Olate dogs make it, I wouldn't be sad except for the one or two who DIDN'T. I can't believe we only have three possibles, and really, we only have two, with the judges choosing between the 3rd and 4th vote-getters.

They'll reveal the four acts that got the most votes last night. Then the top three will be announced. All others will be going home.

First group: Shanice and Maurice Hayes, All That!, Lightwire Theater
Sharon: Tough call. Traditional Dance with All That! Technology with Lightwire Theater and Classic with Shanice and Maurice.
America has voted. The act going through to the top four tonight is: Lightwire Theater.
LWT: It feels great. But the night is still young. Now we have to wait 45 minutes to find out where we stand.
(I was sure of this. I figure they're in the top two.)

Second group: Jacob Williams, David Garabaldi and his CMYKs, Sebastian (El Charro De Oro)
Howie: It is a tough decision. Jacob, you had a little bit of a tough time last night. You are at the beginning of your career. Sebastian, talk about the beginning of your career. David Garabaldi, you are a true artist.
The next of tonight's top four is: David Garibaldi and his CMYKs.
DG: Going through my mind and heart are thanking the judges and America for voting for us.
(Yep... I figure he's one of the top two.)

Next group: Olate Dogs, Clint Cavallo, All-Wheel Sports
Howard: Let me explain how fierce the competition is: Last night, the dogs tried to eat the bird. This is an exciting night, and I can't wait to see who goes through. You should all be applauded.
The third of tonight's top four is: Olate Dogs
OD: This has been a lot of hard work and we love all the top dog fans out there, friends and family.
(Ok... They were up there, but I didn't think quite that high. Ok...)

The finals will be on Wednesday, next week, at 9PM.

Last group: Tim Hockenberry, The Magic of Puck, The Untouchables
Howie: I didn't want to see these three together. If this was a magic show, Puck, you'd be in the finals. If this were a singing show, Tim, you'd be in the finals. If this were a dancing show, kids, you'd be in the finals.
The kast of tonight's top four is: The Untouchables
(You're kidding!?! I could swear Tim Hockenberry would have been in at least the top 4.)

So, the top four acts from last night are:
Lightwire Theater
David Garibaldi and his CMYKs
Olate Dogs
The Untouchables

The top two acts are:
America has voted. The first act going through to the finals, and moving one step closer to $1,000,000 and a headline show in Las Vegas is: The Untouchables
(WHAT?)

America has voted. The next act going through to the finals is: Olate Dogs
(WHAT AGAIN?)

(You have GOT to be shitting me! The top two were NOT Lightwire Theater and David Garibaldi? I just don't understand that!)

Lightwire: We've worked so hard. It's our life. We'd just like the opportunity...
David: Every step of the way, we've done our best. Going to the finals we'd bring that Wow we think the show needs.

That leaves Lightwire Theater and David Garibaldi from which the judges will select

Commercials
Segment #5

Sharon: Neither one of you should have been in this position. It's a travesty. You are both too talented. I have to make my decision. My decision is that I am going to put through Lightwire Theater.
Howie: You are both winning million dollar acts. LWT: You create the show. David: You are an artist. The choice I'm going to make is not the best, but is different. David.
Howard: David, you stumbled a bit with me. Last night you painted a painting I wouldn't put in my house. The guys's a brilliant artist. Lightwire: You've done nothing wrong, you are phenomenal. I make my decision by who I'd go see. I sit in the parking lot and watch people paint all the time. So my decision is David. Just don't paint the Statue of Liberty (with a funny face) again.
DG: Lightwire is an incredible act.

So, from tonight we have:
The Untouchables
Olate Dogs
David Garibaldi and his CMYKs

And from last week, the top three are:
William Close
Tom Cotter
Joe Castillo

It's gonna be a VERY good night, and a tough vote!

Cya next Wednesday. ;-)

Live from the New Jersey Performing Arts Center

From NBC:
All AGT Videos
Season 7 Episodes
Season 7 Highlights

The twelve remaining acts will perform. Finals next week. Only three of tonight's acts will make it through. (Again, this is going to be a VERY tough night to vote with only THREE going through to the finals.)

Even if an act gets three "X"s, we can still vote for them.

Sharon: Last week we saw so much talent being sent home. Everybody is going to be a winner, but only three are going to go through.

The acts tonight:
All That! (Dance crew - Cloggers)
Sebastian (El Charro De Oro) (10yo Mariachi Singer)
The Magic of Puck (Magician)
Clint Cavallo (Bird act)
Jacob Williams (Young-looking Comedian)
Shanice and Maurice Hayes (Father/Daughter singing duo)
All-Wheel Sports (Action Variety act)
Tim Hockenberry (Singer)
The Untouchables (Latin Dancers - Oldest is 13yo)
Olate Dogs (Dog act)
Lightwire Theater (Entertainers with light)
David Garabaldi and his CMYKs (Entertainer with paint)

So, let's get going...

All That! (Dance crew - Cloggers)
(First they danced with their shoes on fire, then in water.)
Audience Standing Ovation.
Sharon: Well, well, well. You were dancing at such speed that it was a pleasure to see you perform again.
Howie: I find what you do very good, but I find it one-dimensional. I like to see some hip-hop, some acrobats...
Howard: I think you took direction. When you started =with the solo, then added the three. I think you did well, I think some of what Howie said is true, we've been here before... But I think you did a good job.
AT: We can't hang our heads for anything we've done. You don't see hip-hop dancers clogging. We stick to what we do and America seems to love it.
(It's clogging... Tap dancing en masse and in sync... Riverdance-ish. They may be trying to bring it back, but I think they're going to have to have some help from other acts failing tonight. And if tonight is like last week, there just won't BE any/many failures. We'll have to see.)

Commercials
Segment #2

Sebastian (El Charro De Oro) (10yo Mariachi Singer)
Howie and Sharon - Standing Ovation
Howie: Sebastian, you are truly amazing. You stunned me. I don't understand the words to that song, but I was just sitting here smiling.
Howard: I am not the biggest fan of Mariachi music, but you are making me a fan. If I were going to be critical, you need some voice training in the middle range, but you are such a showman at 10 years old...
Sharon: It's like a dream, right? (Yes). And it's reality that you were so fine tonight.
(The kid is obviously good, having gotten this far. He does need a little work on the midrange, but he's a pretty damn good little showman! Tonight's a tough night. We'll have to see.)

Commercials
Segment #3

The Magic of Puck (Magician)
Howard: You  came out here tonight and we said you had to do something bigger, and you did it. Well done.
Sharon: Flawless. You raised the bar. I didn't think you could, but you did it.
Howie: When I can't figure it out, I love it. It was truly magic. If America wants to see a magician win a million dollars, they're going to have to get on the phone and vote.
(Pretty good. I don't know about flawless. It took him too long to cover the girl, and then when they brought out a box, it seemed the 2nd assistant was brushing the front - I think the girl inside bumped it or something. Even so, impressive, and pretty decent ways to cover up some missteps. 90 seconds, though, is not a lot of time to do a good magic act like Howard wants. We'll have to see. Howard said he did good.)

Commercials
Segment #4

Clint Cavallo (Bird act)
Sharon: She's learned a lot in her 30 years.
Howie: I felt like I was in a scene from the Birds. You stepped it up like we told you. But it feels a little like an amusement park show...
Howard: This all feels a little like a kids party. But I wanna give you the respect. To train a bird to do all that. But this is the semi-finals. I don't think you have a million dollar act.
(This is just one-fourth of his act. And he has over 250 birds. But as the judges said, it seems kinda "kid party" act. We'll have to see.)

Jacob Williams (Young-looking Comedian)
Howie: Personally I love you. But you oare in a tough category. You are more you. You'll probably end up with a sitcom. It's not the funniness, it's not the jokes, it's the awkwardness of you.
Sharon: Jacob. it is you. You're just very awkward, but in a funny way. Have you found a girlfriend yet? I was just checking in. You did very awkward tonight.
Howard: I think tonight you stumbled. I think the others were right that it's your awkwardness. But tonight, it was about the material, and it didn't go very well.
(Yeah... The jokes tanked. He did get some applause, and he's not UNfunny, but it just didn't work tonight. The material was a little off, and added to the awkwardness, which is his persona, just didn't fly that well. I think he's over. (Sorry Jacob.))

Commercials
Segment #5

Shanice and Maurice Hayes (Father/Daughter singing duo)
Howard: I'm a big fan of you guys. You've got a good energy between you. You know Maurice, after the first couple of lines, you could have laid back a little, and let your daughter come out front and center. I love your act, I just think you need to tweak it.
Sharon: I have to agree with Howard that your daughter should be bang in the middle of that stage.
Howie: I've been consistently saying the same thing. I think Shanice needs to be a solo artist.
(I hate to say it, because Stern said it, but I think the judges are right. They are decent as a father/daughter act, but she could go a LOT farther without him, or with him as her backup, not as a shared lead. I don't think they'll make it though.)

Commercials
Segment #6

All-Wheel Sports (Action Variety act)
Sharon: Personally, I think you've done so well to perform this in such a confined space. I applaud you because it was very entertaining.
Howard: I'm gonna be a little downer. We said we needed an oh-wow moment. The show opened up, and I felt like I was rock-climbing wall, bikes jumping, etc. I didn't buzz on the mistake.
Howie: I have a question because we are not at home. Not sure what this feels like on television, but live, it's like Cirque du Soleil meets X-Games.
(It's kinda like a three-ring circus... You don't really know where to watch. One guy fell, but was right back up and the show continued from there. As the judges said, it shows how dangerous it is out there. I almost think it's too much going on... too confined space... no one is really a star here... )

Commercials
Segment #7

Tim Hockenberry (Singer)
Howard standing ovation
Howie: There's no denying that you're a fabulous singer, and I could sit and listen to you all night long. But, being a singer tonight is going to be hard. I don't know if your voice is original enough to take it to the next step.
Sharon: What I loved about your act was it's simplicity.
Howard: This was the most moving performance we've had from a singer in a long time. You chose a song that moves everyone. This was great because you went back to sounding like the Tim Hockenberry we liked from the beginning.
(The guy sounds a bit like Joe Cocker and Bob Seger and Tom Waits - Very gravelly voice, but this guy's like Seeger and hits all the notes. He emoted quite well, too. NOT the Season of the Singer or not, I think he'll make it through.)

Commercials
Segment #8

The Untouchables (Latin Dancers - Oldest is 13yo)
Standing Ovation audience
Howard: You guys chose one of the toughest dances, the tango. You guys are so young and so proficient at what you do. Great job. You guys, it's your youth. It's even greater to see people of this age succeed.
Howie: You, young lady, are right (she's crying). You were amazing, athletic, you did a magic trick (Quick Change).
Sharon: What can I say that hasn't already been said. Every time you dance a different style. You're technique is wonderful. Everyone at home vote because these fabulous young people won't get through unless you vote.
(These kids are good. Their choreographer was in the Miami All-Stars, who went home in this round last year. He's done a great job with these kids. Synced when they're supposed to be, acrobatic when they're supposed to be, and they DID do a great quick change (well, the girls did) in the middle of the act. The costumes are wonderful... They should get through easily.)

Commercials
Segment #9

Olate Dogs (Dog act)
Standing ovation by all.
Sharon: I am just begging everyone at home to please please vote. I want to see you again. These animals are not animals, but angels from above.
Howard: What a show tonight. I do not know how America is going to put only three through. You guys have to be in the finals. If you're not it's a crime.
Howie: All over America people are tweeting WOW. That's not good enough. You have to vote. This is the best semi-final EVER in the history of America's Got Talent.
(They are excellent. The dogs are so well-behaved, and do their stuff without question. Someone I've said will go through may not because of these guys. We'll see. They should make it, too.)

Commercials
Segment #10

Lightwire Theater (Entertainers with light)
Howie: Tonight is off the hook because so many acts create something that we've never seen before. It felt like, sitting here, that you createcd a 3-d futuristic movie we've never seen before.
Sharon: I'm sure you're going to have a headline show. I loved everything. I kept thinking oh my goodness, I hope a bulb doesn't go out.
Howard: I'm looking for originality. You guys have it. You guys are captivating. Dance and electronics and somthing fabulous. Let's see who goes through.
(These guys should go through easily. Of course, that means I'm wrong on the others above.

Commercials
Segment #11

David Garabaldi and his CMYKs (Entertainer with paint)
Howard: I'm always amazed by what you do. I do believe that you will be one of the acts that go through to the finals. Sometimes you keep us waiting a little too long. Be careful about that. You're terrific.
Sharon: I love what you do. You are very passionate. You remind me of this fabulous street artist that we've given this stage to. I really hope we'll see you here next week.
Howie: You are not just a painter. You are not just an entertainer. You are an artist. I didn't mind waiting. The best things are worth waiting for. America, stop tweeting me how good people are, and then how mad you are when they don't get through. You have to vote.
(I love this guy's work. Between him, Lightwire Theater and the Sand Guy... I think it's going to be one of them. BOY was I wrong, when I forgot some of the those later in the show that I hadn't remembered and said some earlier in the show would make it.)

All That! (Dance crew)
Sebastian (El Charro De Oro) (10 yo Mariachi Singer)
The Magic of Puck (Magician)
Clint Cavallo (Bird act)
Jacob Williams (Young-looking Comedian)
Shanice and Maurice Hayes (Father/Daughter singing duo)

I can't believe we only have three possibles, and really, we only have two, with the judges choosing between the 3rd and 4th vote-getters.

They've "fudged" others through before. Maybe they will this time, too.

Anyway, Results are Thursday, I believe. If not, they'll be tomorrow.

Either way, Cya, then! ;-)

America's Got Talent (AGT) 2012 - 08/29/2012 - Semi-Finals Results Show

Only three (3) of the following twelve (12) acts will go through.
Andrew de Leon (Singer)
Todd Oliver and Irving (Ventriloquist with live dog)
Donovan and Rebecca (Strength acrobats)
Edon (Singer)
The Scott Brothers (Dancers)
Dittleman (Magician)
Turf (Street Dancer/Contortionist)
Bria Kelly (Country singer from YouTube acts)
Joe Castillo (Sand Artist)
William Close (Builds HUGE music instruments and plays them)
Tom Cotter (Comedian)
Academy of Villains (Dance group)

My choices were: Andrew de Leon, William Close, Tom Cotter

Steve Harvey and Neon Trees will perform.
There will also be a number of surprises, for us and for the acts.

Before we see who goes through: Steve Harvey
Thoughts on the acts: Some of the greatest acts he's ever seen:
Donovan and Rebecca - He and his wife tried it after the show.
Edon - He can sing. What a great voice. Announces that he's Edon's father.
Joe Castillo - Who would have thought you could take just dirt and make money.
Turf - I don't know how he does it. Why he does it. And when you practice, you have to mess up sometime. It HAS to hurt.
Tom Cotter - Thinks he has it all.

They'll reveal the four acts that got the most votes last night. Then the top three will be announced. All others will be going home.

First set of acts: Turf, Joe Castillo, and the Scott Brothers
Montage of the acts and judges' comments from last night.
Howard: This is tough. All three acts are similar in my mind. I can't call this one.
America has voted. In no particular order, the first of tonight's four acts is: Joe Castillo.
Joe: Sensational to be in tonight's top fours.
Sharon: I know you'll be in the finals.
Joe give berets to all the judges.
(I knew Joe would make it though. Sorry Turf.)

(Here's my issue: Howard's is a very popular, for some reason, person. He comments on these acts, and I'll lay you odds, influences the votes more than anyone knows. Even a slight negative comment from him, and his acolytes will try to make sure that person doesn't make it through. Too bad. He should be much more objective in the way he talks to them, I think.)

NBC Special Report about Hurricane Isaac and the Gulf Coast

Orville Lounge after show party

Next set of acts: Andrew de Leon, William Close, Academy of Villains
Montage of the acts and judges' comments from last night.
Howie: A fan of all three acts. This was my top three that would go through tonight. These were the three best acts for me from last night and two are going home!
America has voted. The next of the top four acts is: William Close
WC: This feels amazing. Just making this next step is amazing.
Howard: I am pleased. Of course he deserves to go through. I tried to tell people that they wouldn't go through, and I tried to be constructive. You, William, are a talent. Nothing is a lock. Have you seen the other acts?
(Damn! Andrew wasn't one of them. But then, they said surprises... We'll see.)

Two spots are taken. Only two left.
Next group: Donovan and Rebecca, Todd Oliver and Edon
One is in tonight's top four.
Sharon: You have no idea how much I dislike seeing them all standing together. I don't like this part of the show, Nick.
America has voted. The third of tonight's top four acts is: Todd Oliver
TO: It feels sensational. Incredible.
Howie: Here's what makes me happy, that I'm able to say this. America is gloming onto variety. You have the opportunity. I hope you make it.

(I knew tonight would be hard. But this is ridiculous. Andrew didn't make it? I knew out of the last group it would be Todd, but Donovan and Rebecca are great, too. Edon is young. He can come back next year.

The last of the top four from which the 3 going through will be chosen: Tom Cotter, Bria Kelly, Eric Dittleman
Howard: This is a testiment to how great this show has been all year. I know only one will be chosen, but you other two, you did a great job.
One spot left in this week's top four. America has voted. In no particular order, the last of tonight's top four is: Tom Cotter.
TC: I have digestive issues I can't discuss right now because of my nerves.
Sharon: America knows that you deserve it. And that's why America brought you here. It's all about talent, talent, talent.

So, the top four are:
Joe Castillo
William Close
Todd Oliver
Tom Cotter

Only three will go through, after the break.

Segment #5

The top four are introduced, again.
Three will go into the finals, one will be heading home.

America has voted: The first act going into the finals is: William Close
WC: I feel amazing. I'm so thankful. I love this show. I'm having so much fun on this show.
Howie: I feel redeemed, now. I said you are one of my favorites from the beginning.

America has voted; The next act going into the finals is: Tom Cotter
TC: I'm fine now (digestive problem)
Howard: I think we're going to have some finals. The two guys going there, head-to-head... Wow.

One spot left in the finals. And the judges decide who takes it.
Between Todd Oliver and Irving and Joe Castillo.
Both try to convince the judges.
Todd - It's been a great ride. Irving can speak for all the dogs out there who can't.
Joe - It's fairly simple. And Todd is great. But, if you want an act in Vegas that's unique, would you pick a ventriliquist or a sand artist?

Commercials
Segment #6

Next week 12 acts will fight for the last spots in the finals. It's going to be an incredible show.

So, Todd Oliver or Joe Castillo.
Howard: I am very definate about this. These are two wonderful performers. Joe, I think you've run your course. Todd, I'm only thinking about what's best for our show. I don't think we've seen your best, yet. My pick is Todd.
Sharon: Todd and Irving. Every single week you've been upping your game. And Joe, you bring heart and emotion to this show. Each week you touch us with something else. And you could work with any artist here. So I'm going to have to say, I'm going to go with Joe.
Howard interrupts... Who would you go see to sit for an hour. Who is the person who is going to come out and entertain you.
Sharon and Howard argue.
Howard: I'm going to go with Joe Castillo!

Well, poo. Andrew didn't make it. Unless something happens, he's out. They did have to bring him back, but he's so freaking unique. I repeat: I hope there are plenty of producers, directors, R&D agents and agents out there. He is NOT going to be ignored, I'm sure. But, I'm glad that Tom Cotter made it.

So, those going though to the finals are:
William Close
Tom Cotter
Joe Castillo

That's it until next week.

Cya then! ;-)

America's Got Talent (AGT) 2012 - 08/28/2012 - 1st Live Semi-Final

Live from the New Jersey Performing Arts Center

From NBC:
All AGT Videos
Season 7 Episodes
Season 7 Highlights

Twelve acts will perform. Finals in two weeks. Only three of tonight's acts will make it through.
(This is going to be VERY tough night to vote. Only THREE acts go through. WOW!)

Howard: I think we have to be tough tonight. Only three will go through, so we have to be extra-critical.

Even if an act gets three "X"s, we can still vote for them.

Andrew de Leon (Singer)
Singing: Ave Maria
(DAMN this guy is good)
Howie: I think he did very well. You hit every note. My concern is that you don't have the formal training. If people love what you did, I hope they vote for you.
Howard: There are times I think the whole thing is getting strange. Andrew has a great personal story. This is opera. And I'm wondering if you have enough to get past the formal training.
Sharon: I have been studying the previous shows. I would like to give you a word of advice. Why don't you try taking all this off (the makeup) and people might take you more seriously.
Andrew: I think they're all entitled to their own opinion, and I will take it all into thought if necessary.
(The guy has gone from singing in his room to himself to this stage, and every time we hear him sing, it's chills. Part of the mystique is the Goth look. And it also gives him something to "hide behind". (Some singers hide behind guitars... Some behind the mics... Some behind a different persona than their own... If he took off the makeup in this show, he might lose.) After AGT, if he wants to try it without makeup, that's fine, but Sharon's wrong... People take him seriously... Just listen to the voice.)

Commercials
Segment #2

Todd Oliver and Irving (Ventriliquist with live dog)
Sharon: We know who your daddy is (Howard), and he was right to bring you back. The material was fantastic.
Howie: We know it's original - talking dog - and I loved the talk show approach.
Howard: Your material is spot on with this audience. Only three acts can go through. America has to vote for you. This act deserves to go through.
(He's very good, and I have no clue how he gets that dog to just sit there and let that "lower jaw" flap against his chin. His material has been great all along, even when he wasn't voted through. But with the limitation of three acts going on from tonight's show, it's probably gonna be pretty tight. We'll see.)

Commercials
Segment #3

Donovan and Rebecca (Strength acrobats)
(Sharon standing at end)
Howard: This is a spectacular act. I believe the strength of this act is Rebecca is so strong, wearing high heels and living Donovan. On TV, strength doesn't translate that well, But you're remarkable.
Sharon: I am just wowed. I've got some cheese, but I don't have a cheese grater, can I rub it on your abs? I've never seen abs like that on a woman before.
Howie: With only three acts going through, you deserve to go through. AGT is the only place you can see acts like this. You deseerve to go through.
(She's very good-looking and strong. He's got a lotta muscles, but is also very graceful. Together, they are an impressive act, especially when they are showcasing Rebecca's strength. Only three acts, though... We'll see, again.)

Commercials
Segment #4

Edon (Singer)
Singing: You Don't Know You're Beautiful
Standing O by audience, Sharon and Howie
Howie: That was beautiful. That was amazing. You are, when you think of the whole competition, you are the best singer in this whole competition.
Howard: I think a lot of 13 year olds will vote for you. To be honest, I was bored by the song. I think you made it tough on yourself.
Sharon: I think the song was spot on, age appropriate. You have great stage presence. I felt the emotion. You are amazing.
(The kid is damn good, too. Of course, no one would be here tonight, if they weren't. Like I said, this is going to be a hard choice tonight.)

Commercials
Segement #5

The Scott Brothers (Dancers)
Howard: I love whatt you guys do. I happen to think youo guys are the best dance act. It think, though, that people will be a little bored.
Sharon: You're great at what you do. I just think this week we are chockablock full of talent, and you may not make it.
Howie: You are the best at what you do. What you need is one move - like the walking around the hats - I didn't see that one move tonight.
(Again, very good. But there are too many other acts that do more already tonight. Sorry guys.)

Dittleman (Magician)
Sharon: Dittle-dittle-dittleman. That was fantastic how you did this. I didn't get that one (one with America), but I found the other Amazing.
Howie: What facinates me most is you can see what's in our minds, you can control America, but you can't find a girlfriend. This is tough for America. Vote.
Howard: Howie hit it on the head. People are asking about Dittleman. We have exceptional talent on this stage. He's stepped it up each week.
(If he's so good, he will influence us all to vote for him! LOL He's good. Not sure how he does it, but that's magic, right?)

Commercials
Segment #6

Turf (Street Dancer/Contortionist)
Howie standing
Howie: I said to Edon he's the best singer, I think you are the best dancer in the competition. I know some don't think it's dancing. You move to music. That's dancing.
Howard: What I'm afraid of for you... There's a certain similarity to what you do for us. I'm afraid people will think they've seen the same thing every time. When you're a street performer, people walk by you, and you can do the same things over and over. Here, it's not quite the same. I'm a little afraid for you.
Sharon: Just when I think we're done... We've seen it all... You pull me back in.
(I understand Howard, but dancing in general can be like that. I thought he was different this time than the times before. I was a more afraid that he "danced" more than "contorted"... And some of the contortions were very quick. Still, he's one of the VERY few people I've EVER seen do this type of dancing. And part of the appeal tonight was that he DID dance more than contort.

Three acts, huh? DAMN!

Commercials
Segment #7

Bria Kelly (Country singer from YouTube acts)
Song: Perfect (Pretty Pretty Please)
Sharon: You've got a great voice. No shadow of a doubt, you've got great pipes. Loved the song choice.
Howie: The idea is when you came to us on the YouTube show, that was a luck of a draw. I think the unluck thing for you, talented lady, is that you have to do something that makes you stand out. I don't think you did.
Howard: I disagree. Technically, your voice is the strongest of any other singers tonight.
(She's got talent. I hope, as I always do, that producers and A&R people are watching, and will pick up some of the people who won't make it through.)

Commercials
Segment #8

Joe Castillo (Sand Artist)
Howard: You have tremendous talent as an artist. I think from a performance standpoint, the audience will think they've seen it before. I don't know... Three acts will get through.
Sharon: Every time I see you, you never cease to amaze me with what you can do with sand.
Howie: I don't agree with Howard in that yes, what you do is similar - You use sand. The stories are different every time. I can imagine it would be like seeing the Beatles - I never saw the Beatles, but if I had - I'd say it would be like seeing you.
(From the first time I saw Joe on YouTube, I've liked him. He tells epic stories/sagas in sand on a lightbox, usually to music. And they are amazing each time. The only problem I see right now is THREE ACTS GO THROUGH. But right now, he's one of my three.)

Commercials
Special report - Hurricaine Isaac - Made landfall tonight. They kept it short.
Segment #9

William Close (Builds HUGE music instruments and plays them)
Standing ovation - audience and judges
Howie: There are no words to describe it. You are our favorite. I hope the people at home can sense the production. it would be a crime if they don't get to the phone and vote you through.
Sharon: I hope that people at home get the scale of this. Now you put ballet dance in the act... Two singers. Every time you come you bring us such professionalism. I cannot wait to see you again.
Howard: I saw you the first time, I knew you were a star. All the instruments were created by you. You have grown. You are the front-runner.
(Do you realize how long it takes to build these instruments? The big one, he not only has to wire up, but tune up, and then learn when to play each note in the song. This guy is fan-damn-tastic. He IS on my short-list.)

Commercials
Segment #10

Tom Cotter (Comedian)
Standing ovation - everyone
Howie: I can't say anything but OMG. It's all about material. I chose it, you went on. That was amazing.
Howard: I gotta make sure that this was for real (the choosing). We're starting to weed out some people. If you don't get the vote, then something wrong's with this show.
Sharon: Not only are you a really good guy, but you have great material.
(Hilarious. But it's gonna be hard to choose. ONLY THREE ACTS GET THROUGH!)

Commercials
Segment #11

Academy of Villains (Dance group)
Sharon: If people knew how difficult it was to be a choreographer anyway, but for how many people (30) Aiiee... You are incredible.
Howie: We have a lotta dance groups on this show every year. You are my favorite dance group I've EVER seen on this show. You change your style. You change you choreography.
Howard: I'm afraid I'm going to rain on the parade this time. I got a little bit bored with it. You're up against a lot of great talent tonight. You're very talented and I wish you the best.
(Howard can be a "jerky" as Piers was. I agree that they may not go through, but why does he have to say it. Part of that and being Howard Stern influences some people. I really don't think that's fair. These guys did an excellent job, especially considering they had to redo the choreography when one of them broke their kneecap practicing. And 30 people?  Wow.)

So, the acts tonight:
Andrew de Leon (Singer)
Todd Oliver and Irving (Ventriliquist with live dog)
Donovan and Rebecca (Strength acrobats)
Edon (Singer)
The Scott Brothers (Dancers)
Dittleman (Magician)
Turf (Street Dancer/Contortionist)
Bria Kelly (Country singer from YouTube acts)
Joe Castillo (Sand Artist)
William Close (Builds HUGE music instruments and plays them)
Tom Cotter (Comedian)
Academy of Villains (Dance group)

My choices: Andrew de Leon, William Close, Tom Cotter

Again, and I said it above, I hope there are producers, directors, R&D agents, and agents watching. There are a LOT of talented people on this show. I've not seen one so hard to choose before. Every one of these acts deserves to "go through" or have a chance to headline on their own somewhere, somehow, and I don't mean to "go home" and continue on as if they hadn't done AGT at all, and had so many people watch them perform. Good luck to everyone.

Results show tomorrow.

Cya then! ;-)

Montage of the acts from last night talking about how they are lucky to get their second chances and want to go on, all the way.

First acts - Sebastian "el Charro de Oro", Bandbaz Brothers, Ben Blaque
Howard: I love the show tonight. It's not so obvious. I hope America gets it right. Everyone last night was stellar. I know who I'd like to go through, but don't know.
And the act going through to the semi-finals, and the chance at $1M and a headline show in Las Vegas is: Sebastian "el Charro de Oro"
Howie: I have said I don't think it's the year of the singer. But I don't think you're just a singer. I love to hear you speak as much as I love to hear you sing.
(WOW! I'm surprised, to be honest. The kid is good, but still... )

Sharon: I'm at the edge of my seat right now. Everybody did their real best last night. Tell us!
And the act going through to the semi-finals is: Andrew de Leon
Howie: I knew it. It's even sweeter because you went over that hurdle of vegas. You are... If Marilyn Manson and Adam Lambert had a child...
(The guy just has the most amazing voice. And his look just adds to the mystique.)

Next group of acts: Todd Oliver, Cristin Sandu, Spencer Horsman
Howard: Last night was a great night. But the constant gloating of Howie has me nauseous. He has two through. I wouldn't be upset to see any of these guys go through. I think America got some of these wrong, so far.
The act going through to the semi-finals is: Todd Oliver
Howard: I'm going to gloat a little. First, you came out here and really brought it. As for you Howie, it's now two to one.
(Todd was funny last night. Timing was right. I'm sad because two of MY choices were in this one, but glad one made it through. ;-) )

Commercials
Segment #5

The three remaining acts: All That!, Jarrett and Raja, Lindsey Norton
(Wow... I didn't choose any of them to go on, and right now, I couldn't guess who the judges will choose.)
The judges can only choose between two acts. So, the act leaving the competition and going home is: Jarrett and Raja. (Are you kidding me?)
Howard: This is a crime. I think this is a crime.

So, we have All That! and Lindsay Norton. There was only 1/2 percent between their votes.
Howard: I think Jarrett and Raja were robbed. And I was critical of both of you that you're stuff is looking so similar.
All That! - If you bring us back, we have something you've never seen before.
Lindsey - I have so much more to show you. I feel like I've grown as a dancer and person, and I thank you for that.

Commercials
Segment #6

Judges choice between All That! and Lindsay Norton
Howard: What do I do. What is my criteria. Who would I pay most money to go see. Lindsey I said it over and over, you are an amazing athlete. All That! Guys dancing and clogging. Who would have thought that. The persons I think I would actually pay for to go see? All That!
Howard: I'm surprised that in the realm of what happened yesterday it's you two. Lindsey. I think you're still beautiful, and think I'm, basking in the afterglow of the Olympics. Lindsey.
Sharon: It's like Sophie's Choice. What you like best? Apples or Oranges. How do you choose between your children. (Both acts are hers.) Why is it always on me in these situations? Lindsey you know I love you. You're a delight for me to watch. You have your whole future ahead of you and this will give you a boost. And guys... I'm just gonna have to say All That!

Howie: It was truly amazing. I am gloating. Two of my acts went through.

**

So the acts going through tonight are:
Sebastian "el Charro de Oro"
Andrew de Leon
Todd Oliver

Ok... Semi-Finals are next week, I believe. Here's a full list of those we'll see:

America's Got Talent (AGT) 2012 - 08/21/2012 - Live Wild Card Show

From NBC:
All AGT Videos
Season 7 Episodes
Season 7 Highlights

Judges have each picked their four favorite acts from any stage in the competition that are didn't make the top 16. "We're looking at people who are getting their second chance."

This is the last chance for these people. A lot of the acts deserve to go on, but have dropped through the cracks because they can only allow a certain number through.

Spencer Horsman (Escape artist) - (One of Howard's choices)
Shackled in a tank, slowly filling with cement.
Standing Ovation by judges and crowd.
Howard: That's what you gotta do... Almost kill yourself. I tried to bring back people who, if you DVR the show, you don't fast-foward through it. You were worth bringing back.
Sharon: I loved everything - the wet cement, before the wet cement, the outfit, etc.
Howie: You took the criticism (from last time), and ran with it. We love it. I hope America votes for you.
(The kid is a good escape artist. We'll have to see the rest of the acts, but that was a pretty good way to start the show.)

Commercials
Segment #2

All That! (Cloggers) - One of Sharon's choices
Sharon: They did not disappoint me. I loved it just as much as before. That was really well done.
Howie: The context is where you are in this competition and where you are in it. Having just watch a guy almost die, and knowing what's coming, I don't think it is as exciting enough to go beyond here.
Howard: It's not that you guys are incompetent. You're very talented. Had you been my act and I was advising you, I'd have said pick one guy and focus on him. America can only vote four through. I think your act would be sped through because it's boring.
(I thought they did a great job. Again, it depends on the other acts tonight... So, we'll see.)

Commercials
Segment #3

Jarrett and Raja (Magicians) - One of Howie's acts
Standing Ovation, audiences and judges
Howie: I think you're brilliant. Look at them, they were on their feet. If this is what you're doing now, I can't wait to see what you do in the semi-finals.
Howard: How weird. Howie's crowing like he did the trick. You've redeemed yourself. Howie was right to bring you back. I think tonight, you took out the cheese, but I loved it tonight. The illusion was magnificent. Wonderful job.
Sharon: It was really really spectacular. You should be very proud of yourself. He brought you back and you delivered.
(It was a kinda typical act, where someone disappears from a box and reappears behind the crowd. HOWEVER, the difference, here, is that it was done WITH a grand piano that Raja was playing. COOLNESS. Again, we'll have to see... )

Commercials
Segment #4

Jake Wesley Rogers (Singer) - Sharon's choice
Sharon: I'm really proud of you. The outfit is stunning. And you sang very well.
Howie: Here's what I want to say. I think you sang very well. The problem is that you're a singer. And this year, AGT is not the year for the singer. I think you are great and you have a career in singing, but I don't think you're going to go through tonight.
Howard: Jake, you're 15 years old. You are a good singer. The problem is you don't make that connection. You're a good singer, you're going to develop, and sing in front of great crowds. I didn't get the feeling that YOU loved that song.

Commercials
Segment #5

Cristin Sandu (Balancing act) - Howie's choice
Fell as he was getting down.
Howie: The fact that you showed up again, and tried it again... I am so sorry.
Howard: In all sincerity. You are exciting. You come out here, it was more dangerous than every with the addition of the first. There's no one else who can balance like that. I truly enjoyed it.
Sharon: The way you got out of it was really incredible. You have really big kahoonas to try it again.
(Personally, I think he did it, but fell getting down. I don't know how the hell he does it - standing on round pipes going perpendicular directions and about 10 feet above a platform that's at least 6 feet up. He's a good act. I really don't know why the fall should count against him. I'd like to see almost ANYONE else put the stack together, and stand there for 15 seconds without falling. He said 10 of 10 times he did it in rehersal, and wasn't sure what happened there. Nerves probably. Depending on the other acts, he's got a good chance of going through.)

Commercials
Segment #6

Todd Oliver (Ventriliquist - with a live dog) - Howard's choice
Howard: What a wonderful night this is. We're bringing people back and their giving us a great show. I'm glad you took my advice - You were topical, your ventriliquism was spot on, it's very engaging.
Sharon: That 90 seconds flew by. I didn't want it to end. It's definitely at 10.
Howie: I ditto everything the other judges said. America is going to have a tough time deciding whether you're worthy of it. If they want you to go through, they're going to have to vote.
(First good laughs I've had in a while. Good job. We'll see.)

Bandbaz Brothers (Acrobats) - Sharon's choice
Sharon: I honestly don't know what to say. It was breathtaking. I mean the balance. Your timing was superb.
Howard: This takes tremendous strength. I know this is dangerous. You pulled it off tonight. Hard to believe these were the people that got voted off.
Howie: Your grandfather's cousin died doing this trick? So the fact that you did it, and the fact that you survived... I can only anticipate what you're going to do next.
(Pretty good. Seemed a little short, but it was an act you seldom see any more.)

Commercials
Segment #7

Sebastian "el Charro de Oro" (Mariachi Singer) - Howie's choice
(sang "New York")
Standing Ovation by Howie and Sharon and audience
Howie: You're more than a singer young man. You are an entertainer. I think you are a star. I think America has to vote for you.
Sharon: Howie is on a roll tonight. You took a big risk. You sang in English for us. You and you band were supurb.
Howard: We have a young man here who's 10 and acts 20. Tough vote for America. Singing in English pointed out some flaws in your voice. It's inspiring and fun. I can't wait to see how America votes.

Commercials
Segment #8

Horse (takes shots to the balls) - Howard's choice
Howard: I brought him back because you can see this is a guy who went Balls to the Wall. You put it all out there. I think you're histerical.  Congratulations. I think I made the right choice in bringing you back.
Howie: I am speechless. You are nuts.
Sharon: I feel like I'm watching one of those home videos who get drunk and do stunts like this. I don't think there is one man in America who doesn't have their balls in their hands saying "Ooooooooh!"
Then he has Howard shoot him with tennis balls from a tennis ball bazooka (shots at 90 MPH) from about 15 feet away - THREE TIMES in about 30 seconds!
(The guy is CRAZY! I don't see the humor, to be honest. I wince at America's Funniest similar hits. They're funny because of the circumstances and that they ARE accidental. I am not a Jackass fan. So this act doesn't do anything for me. Sorry.)

Commercials
Segment #9

Lindsey Norton (Dancer/Contortionist) - Sharon's last pick
Sharon: She did really well. You really really used the stage tonight. For one person who has nothing but you and your body... Usually these shows are not as great as this one. You did really well.
Howard: You're beautiful to watch. But like Sharon said, we have a lot of great acts. People have to vote if they want you to go on.
Howie: It's so hard to believe that all the acts tonight are those that were eliminated. I'm just concerned that in this crowd, it might be a little tough.
(She's pretty. She's a great dancer. She does a great job. Tonight's acts though... I think it'll be tough for her to go through. We'll see.

Segment #10

Andrew de Leon (Singer) - Howie's last pick
(Guy who looks very goth and sings alto or contra-soprano beautifully)
Standing ovation by audience
Howie: You deserve it. You are probably the biggest surprise of the season because of the looks and style and that voice. In this night of redemption, you redeemed yourself.
Howard: When I saw you the first time, I thought you were the breakout star. Then you came to Vegas, and tanked. You came out tonight, and got past it. And did it beautifully.
Sharon: A very good friend of mine said you were the winner. I said I bet you a plate of pancakes he's not. I'm going to have to give him plate of pancakes. You are a star.
Andrew (How do you feel): I'm just so happy to be back, and have something to prove to myself and to America, and I think I did it.
(This guy COULD make this year the year of the singer. He's amazing. And never having sung anywhere but his bedroom before... I understand the nerves, but he's getting there, and COULD, I believe, take it all. If not, he's going to be a star anyway, a la Jackie Evancho.)

Commercials
Segment #11

Ben Blaque (Archer) - Howard's last choice
Standing ovation by all, including the judges
Howard: Congratulations. That was phenomenal. I brought you four acts tonight, and you guys brought the danger. You deserve a spot here. Fantastic.
Sharon: Now you can say that you are apple-man.
Howie: You guys ended the program on a phenomenal note. I chastised you earlier. But tonight it was so different, so dangerous, so exciting...
(I swear I've seen something like this before. Even so, it was fantastic. Great way to end the show.)

So, tonight we've seen:
Spencer Horsman (Escape artist)
All That! (Cloggers)
Jarrett and Raja (Magicians)
Jake Wesley Rogers (Singer)
Cristin Sandu (Balancing act)
Todd Oliver (Ventriliquist - with a live dog)
Bandbaz Brothers (Acrobats)
Sebastian "el Charro de Oro" (Mariachi Singer)
Horse (takes shots to the balls)
Lindsey Norton (Dancer/Contortionist)
Andrew de Leon (Singer)
Ben Blaque (Archer)

My choices: Spencer Horsman, Todd Oliver, Andrew Leon, and Ben Blaque

Howard: America's judge says, best show of the season so far. (I have to agree. This is the best show they've had in a LONG time, though they're all good!)

Results are tomorrow.
Cya then ;-)

Live, the YouTube superstars Carmen; a day in the life of Howard Stern; and a comedian (unnamed?) will perform.

First group on stage:
Cast in Bronze, Reverse Order, Academy of Villians
America has spoken. The act going through to the semi-finals and moving one step closer to the millions dollars and the headline show in Las Vegas is: Academy of Villians.
Howard: We saw something interesting last night. A lot of people can set up a camera and post a video and get a lot of hits. But to come on stage and do it well every night takes a lot. You've proved it.

A sneak peak of Justin Bieber's new video (Bieber will be here sometime in the next few shows...)

Sharon: Very different acts, but you all had the same thing in common. You all had great courage. You got a call from YouTube and on a moments notice came here and performed.
And the act going through is: Bria Kelly
Howie: I truly believe that America got it right. Well deserved. Welcome to the show. And Best of Luck.

Next group:
The Magic of Puck, Eric Buss, Melinda Hill
The act going through is: The Magic of Puck
Sharon: I'm very happy. I really do think that Puck deserves this.

And the last three acts: Clint Carvallo and his Extreme Parrots, Drew Erwin (Singer), Romeo Dance Cheetah (Air Guitar/Dancer)
The judges can only choose between two. So, the act going home and leaving the competition is: Romeo Dance Cheetah. (I knew it.)
Clint, why should it be you? I did what I was supposed to do last night. We're good to know. Drew: You gave me some great constructive criticism last night. I didn't have a lot of performing experience, but I got some last night, and I'm ready to go on.

Commercials
Segment #6
Judge's decisions between Clint Carvallo and his Extreme Parrots and Drew Erwin (Singer)
Howard: We saw a lot of people fumble last night. Clint, you with your bird. Your timing and editing were good. You pulled it off. Drew, I told you last night, with time and experience, perhaps you could become a seasoned performer. And you're a good-looking kid. I'm going to have to tell you Drew, I don't think it's your time yet. My choice is Clint.
Sharon: Clint, you delivered something I've never ever seen before. Drew, you do have courage and talent. I feel you're going to get what you want. But I think, Chippy, Kitty, kitty (the bird's name) is the one for me.

So going through tonight are:
Academy of Villains (Dance group), Bria Kelly (16yo Singer), The Magic of Puck (Magician), and Clint Carvallo and his Extreme Parrots - Hey! 3 out of 4 isn't bad! LOL

Next week is the wildcard show. Each brought back four of their favorites. They ran a quick montage of each of the judges' picks.

Cya next week! ;-)

America's Got Talent (AGT) 2012 - 08/14/2012 - YouTube Edition

From NBC:
All AGT Videos
Season 7 Episodes
Season 7 Highlights

AGT Continues following a two week hiatus while NBC showed the Olympics.

First act -

Clint Carvallo and his Extreme Parrots
Standing ovation including judges
Howie: I don't know if it plays as well on TV as well as live, but what would you do?
Sharon: I honestly thought you'd have another bird from behind another seat.
Howard: Impressive. I wonder what else you have, but this went perfectly. I enjoyed it very very much.
Clint: For me it was the second time I've ever seen it and I goose bumps every time I got to another place to do it. I make a living training abused birds for shows and appearances.
(Interesting. $1M talent? I don't know. We'll see how the rest of the night goes.)

Commercials
Segment #2

Reverse Order (Pop-Rock Band)
(Rocked up "I Kissed a Girl")
Howard: I think you guys suffer from not being together that long. I think you need a lot more time to develope. I think the vocals need some work.
Howie: I do agree with Howard. You have to go with your instinct. You're fine. But you looked like young guys acting like a rock band.
Sharon: You're great looking guys and look well together. You've got to have that glue that sticks you together, and I didn't see that, just yet.
RO: Thanks for all the advice. If America brings us back we're gonna bring even more.
(Song choice was interesting for a Rock band, which is what they want to be. Interesting, as they don't LOOK like a rock band. Everyone played well, but something wasn't there. Maybe the judges are right, here.)

Commercials
Segment #3

Rudy Colby (Illusionist/Magician)
Howard buzzed 1/2 say through
Sharon buzzed after him
Howard: Listen by the time you got to the end, it was interesting, but you had a long time to get set up. You can't waste that much time. You've got the chops. You lost us in the middle there.
Howie: I agree and disagree. We did in the middle. Nothing was happening. You came from YouTube. You've been away from magic for 15 years. I loved it. I think it could be better.
Sharon: You don't have a sense of timing. Cut to the chase. You need to edit it.
Rudy: I'm disappointed by Howard's reaction.
Howard: No, you misunderstood. You have talent. You just need to edit it down, like Sharon said.
(Bizarre. Interesting, but he did take too long. He could have done 3-4 shorter vignettes as others have. Or even two. Kinda depends on the other acts, tonight.)

Commercials
Segment #4

7 in Unison (Dance group)
Howie buzzed.
Howie: I think we're at a time in this competition where you have to WOW people. I just got bored.
Sharon: You're very good dancers, but what is there that makes you different from every other dance troup. I think the song choice was wrong. There's nothing that makes you stand out, but you're very good.
Howard: You have to kinda feel the audience. You're very compitent answers. It's 90 seconds and it felt like 90 minutes. I'm sorry.
(Judges said it. Nothing was unique, and they did some of what to me - not a dancer - seemed like pretty standard dancing. That's not to say they aren't GOOD, but either the song choice or choreography seemed off, to me.)

Commercials
Segment #5

Drew Erwin (Singer)
YouTube/Snapple Contest winner
Sharon: I have to say that the YouTube show is fantastic. You don't have the advantage the other performers have. Where have you performed before (my closet). You did extremely well. I hope the people at home loved you and vote you through.
Howie: It's really commendable. Tell me, were you affected by your nerves (yes). The thing is, you need time. I hope America gets involved. You did come off as somewhat green.
Howard: Let's call it the way it is. You're not ready for this competition, yet. Its not that you have a bad voice or (whatever), it just isn't your time.
(He sings better than many I've seen on this show. The song seemed a bit rushed - maybe to fit it into the 90 seconds. Not sure that guitar playing is his forte, though he learned watching others on YouTube while he had a broken hand and couldn't play football. I don't know. We'll see.)

Commercials
Segment #6

Melinda Hill (Comedian)
Howard: Strange night for me. I think you started out strong, your first two jokes were great, then you lost the audience.
Howie: I saw your YouTube video. If you haven't seen it, I urge you to. You're really funny. Tonight's material just wasn't right.
Sharon: I loved the start of your act... I'm not sure if it's your timing or material, but it's a shame... You're one of the good-looking comedians I've seen...
(She seemed flat. Part of it seemed to be timing, and part material.)

Eric Buss (Entertainer)
(Howard and Sharon both buzzed)
Howie: I didn't buzz you because I was waiting to see if there was and ending. I don't know if its a million dollar act as much as it's a million dollar birthday part.
Howard: The only thing you managed to do is mess up my stage. This is a very unusual act. You're boring. Your act is boring.
Sharon: Did you make those machines? (yes). That's very clever. So you're a carpenter as well.
(I've seen acts like this before. Reminded me a bit of Ernie Covacks - look it up kids. I think it was a little slow for most Americans, these days of quick edits, short video clips, etc. Kovaks made a mint doing this. Eric could to, if he could find the right niche. Given other choices of the night, he might make it. We'll see.)

Commercials
Segment #7

Romeo Dance Cheetah (Air Guitar/Dancer)
Howie and Howard buzzed
(Audience doesn't know whether to cheer or not)
Sharon laughing.
Sharon: I don't know where we begin. What is going on. What can one say... You're very good at mime.
Howard: No he's not. I'm one of those Americans who don't believe playing air guitar is a talent. The whole thing is nonsense.
Howie: Throughout the evening has said two acts that preceded you that you have to put the time into it. And you said in your package that you've been doing this for your whole life. I think you've put too much time into it.
(Weird. But not necessarily in a good way.)

Commercials
Segment #8

The Magic of Puck (Magician)
Howard: This act - I've seen this type of thing before, but you do it very well. The thing you have to be careful about is you have to bring us something bigger and better next time.
Howie: You've got talent. And you've got luck. The luck part is that for the most part, everyone else has been so disappointing...
Sharon: You're presentation is very professional. But it's a little too small.
(I've seen Copperfield and others do this before. Even so, the guy is good. Next time, it'd better be fantastic, or he won't make it past the other magicians.)

Commercials
Segment #9

Bria Kelly (16yo Singer)
Howard: You did a great job tonight. You're on a great night tonight. You want that audience to remember you. If you go on next week, you need to continue to pick great songs.
Sharon: You did wonderfully, but try not to shout so much - you lose the melody.
Howie: In my opinion, so far tonight, you young lady are the standout. I hope people vote.
(The girl can SING. She's cute. She's got star potential. She's IN for sure.)

Comments on Cast in Bronze
Sharon: I can't decide if I was in a department store at Christmas, or I was watching Quasimodo...
Howie: I don't understand the whole ... How long have you been doing this? 21 Years.
Howard: If Hell had a musician, you would be it. This is AGT. Let's get a good costume going. Maybe with a rock band or something this would work, but you on your own... The costume doesn't get it... The instrument gave me a headache.)
(I thought it was neat, but the number of songs available to Carriloners seems limited. Then again, if he makes it, they could start writing songs for it again...)

Last act:
Academy of Villains (Dance group)
Standing ovation by everyone (judges, too)
Howard: Finally something to be proud about. Loved what you did. You kept us entertained... Bravo. I think you will be moving ahead.
Sharon: It was worth it to get you. Thank you very much for being here.
Howie: You know ... We saved the best for last. You are the best thing of tonight's show. I loved that in 90 seconds you shows us so much different stuff. You guys are wonderful. America, go to those phones and dial.
(VERY unique. I liked it. They're through.)

So, the acts tonight:
Clint Carvallo and his Extreme Parrots

Montage of some of the acts (a mix of winners, losers, and from last night)

The acts from last night are:
David "The Bullet" Smith (Human Cannonball)
All That! (Cloggers)
Ulysses (Singer/Entertainer)
Joe Castillo (Sand Artist)
Sebastian "El Charro de Oro" (10yo Mariachi)
Eric Dittelman (Mind-reader)
William Close (Makes instruments and plays them)

Lyndsey Norton (Solo Dancer)
Horse ("King of the Nutshot")
Olate Dogs (Dog Trick Act)

My four from last night: Joe Castillo, William Close, Unity in Motion, Olate Dogs

The votes are in.

Howie: I think this was twofold. I think America had the best and worst night. Best night of entertainment, and worst night only choosing four.

First group up: Ulysses, Olate Dogs, and David "The Bullet" Smith
Sharon: (thoughts?) Before I start on what I predict here. I apologize, Ulysses, it was your moment. Olate Dogs, you know how I feel about dogs. And David... I have no NO CLUE who will go through.
America has voted. The act going through to the semi-finals is: Olate Dogs
OD: Words can't explain how we feel. We put a lot of work into these dogs.
Sharon: I am more than delighted. I cannot wait to see you perform again.
(I think America got it right. David Smith was good, too, but again, I think it's a finale act.)

Next group: William Close, Unity in Motion, Sebastian "El Charro De Oro"
Howard: You have three great acts, there. Unity in Motion, I'm so proud of you. Sebastian, you know I love you. William Close, you took my advice and added a group. Here's the bad thing: Three great acts, and two are going home.
The act going through to the semi-finals is: William Close
WC: The competition is amazing. I'm honored to be moving on. Thanks to the judges. You guys made some beautiful comments, yesterday.
Howie: You are truly an original. That's what this show celebrates. As Howard said, we would all put up our own money, I don't think we'll have to.

Next group: Joe Castillo, Eric and Olivia, Horse
Howie: (thoughts) Extreme difference in these acts... Eric and Olivia, I don't want you to take what I said about coffee house wrong. I just think that music is more suited. Horse, I think it would be irresponsible for us to let you go on. And Joe: You have a great message, and do wonderful work.
Americ has voted. The act going into the semi-finals is: Joe Castillo
JC: Honored, humbled, very happy.
Howard: You really are a guy with a heart. But you pick these themes that we respond to. You are an amazing talent. I think you're going to go all the way.

Dittleman - I think what I do is pretty unique for the show. This is my life dream. Can't wait to show you what I have next.

America voted them into 4th and 5th place last night.
Howie: You wanna do what's right for America. America loves you both the same. Dittleman, what you do each and every time, you boggle my mind. All That! Again, I have not watched clogging done with all male troup. I just wanna do what's right, but I have to go with my own instinct. What is the act I'm dying to see again? Dittleman
Sharon: So hard. As Howie said, it's so close. I'm going to go with All That!
Howard: I think you're both terrific. I can't believe I like clogging so much, but I have to tell you, who would I got see? And that would be Dittleman.

Sharon: WAIT WAIT WAIT... There's a wildcard show coming up soon, and the judges get to pick. My first pick is All That!

So, making it through tonight are:
Olate Dogs

Montage of some of the acts (a mix of winners, losers, and from tonight)

12 acts tonight, 4 will go through
3 "X" and act is over, but America can still vote on them.

Segment #1

David "The Bullet" Smith (Human Cannonball)
This is done outdoors. 40 yards distance... 70 feet or so in the air... 50MPH in a VERY short time... through what appears be semi regulation (thinner - I assume in case he hits them) goal posts... he carries a football with him to make a "Human Field Goal"... And HE MAKES IT!

Judges on David Smith
Howard: People don't understand how dangerous it is what you do. I happen to know that 80% of those who try it are DEAD. We put you right though last time. I know your sister broke her back three times... People have to vote.
Sharon: When we were looking at you, I thought you went past the net. I have come up with an idea for you. When you come back, you need to fly over a bed of alligators on fire...
Howie: What you do is amazing. So it is great. I want people to vote... What if you actually shot yourself out of Nick Cannon (This is a family show.) What will you do next?
(I think this is a great finale act, but headline? It's such a quick act, like Dr Splash last year. He's probably only going to do one shot per show, so what's the rest of the time taken up with?)

Next: All That! (Cloggers)
(To Black Betty by Ram Jam)
Sharon: I think you're incredibly manly, I love all the tattoos. I'd like you to come back with mega-trousers with no shirt... and leather.
Howie: I think what you do is amazing. I never knew anybody in a clogging club. I think the downfall is that you are on the night when we have some of the most original, unique acts. I wish you the best of luck.
Howard: I think Howie and Sharon have it right. Sharon's looking for more, Howie said America has to vote. I don't know if you did enough to get through. It's going to be tough.
(They're DAMN good. For now, they're my top choice.)

Commercials
Segment #3

Ulysses (Singer/Entertainer)
(Howard says his mission is to get rid of Ulysses tonight)
Ulysses does Bandstand
Howard buzzed.
Sharon buzzed.
Howie buzzed right at the end.
Howie: I was ready to come to fisticuffs with Howard. Here's the thing. I say this over and over again... If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
Howard: We live in a country going through tough times... We have a bad economy, terrorists, and now we have this. This wasn't fair to the other acts with more talent.
Sharon: Before I loved what you did. I loved the look before. Now you look like Yogi Bear in a suit.
Howard: He's a great guy to see in a small club.
Sharon: When you were doing requests of old-time shows, that's what I loved. It didn't work tonight.
(I thought his singing was pretty good. Bandstand IS an old show theme. I guess they just didn't like him being dressed up (in a tourquoise tux!), and all the kids behind him danceing. Howard's right in some respects, but I think they put some people through so there's someone to vote AGAINST. Depending on how everyone else does, I don't know that Ulysses would have been voted down, but now, HOWARD has stated that he doesn't like him, so... (Did I say I didn't like Stern's radio show... He seems to be doing ok, here, but there are times, when he and Howie "feud"... And he acts like HE is the producer of the show, instead of just a judge. :-P)

Commercials
Segment #4

Joe Castillo (Sand Artist)
Howard: You continue to amaze me. I don't know of anyone else who could sculpt in sand and move me like you. You're unique and amazing and people should vote for you. The only bad thing is that beret.
Sharon: You really touched my heart. That was beautifully executed.
Howie: It's one thing to have a talent. It's another to have a message. You have combined them both.
(I love this guy's work. I've seen it before on the internet - him or someone else that does it. It's fantastic, and as stated by someone, in time with the music. He should make it.)

Sharon: What can I say. I honestly don't know much about Mariachi, but I love what you all do. You have such passion when you sing, and your voice is really really great. You are such a special, special person.
Howie: I think you are one step closer to helping your brother. You have an old soul. You are like a male, Mexican, Jackie Evancho
Howard: You're a terrific kid, wise beyond your years, go figure that I would love it.
(The kid is good. We'll have to see if America votes him through.)

Segment #6

Eric Dittelman (Mind-reader)
Standing Ovation by judges (and audience?)
Howard: I gotta tell you something. What a night of television. Incredibly tough. Congratulations. America, If you don't vote for him, something is wrong.
Howie: That was amazing. You are the real deal.
Sharon: Dittleman, i think that after tonight, all of America will be talking about Dittleman in the morning. Incredible. And remember, just Dittleman!

William Close (Makes huge instruments and plays them)
Howie: I want everyone in America to go to one of his concerts. You're not sitting there watching a show... You're part of the show.
The act begins. (Close has set up wires to the top of the theater, and plays them.)
Wow... (Rain on Me by The Who).
Standing Ovation by everyone.
Howie: I've never said this before. I got two words. We're done. I think you've won this whole contest. You are an amazing engineer. You are an amazing musician. You are amazing.
Sharon: It's like there have been a couple of times on this show that I have seen something that is totally amazing. But I have never seen anything that performs at this professional level. You are over and above anything I have ever seen on this stage. I bow down to you. You deserve everythying and more that this show can give you.
Howard: "Give him the million dollars" was my first thought. I joined this show because I wanted to find an extrordinary talent that I could crow about. If you're on a show and you're a judge, and believe in an act so much, let's see the judge put up his own money and produce a show. I think all three of us would do that.
(Wow. It doesn't REALLY translate well to TV, but it translates well enough! He's gonna be damn hard to beat. He's through!)

Commercials
Segment #7

Unity in Motion (dance group with contortionists)
Howard: I have said it every week, that these young girls are the best dance act we've ever had. Through the crumby luck of the draw, you're here on a night I have no idea who will make it through. You do everything we're looking for. These guys do deserve to go through.
Sharon: It was absolutely perfect. You're whole presentation.. .There's seven of you. Get all your friends to call. It's a really tough night.
Howie: I'm not in total agreement with Howard. I think the whole bar has been raised this season. People have been saying they've already seen the winner. They haven't. They can't win of you don't vote. If you want these people, you have to vote.
(They are excellent. It's hard to tell if they'll make it or not. They do deserve it.)

Commercials
Segment #8

Eric and Olivia (Guitarist and Singer)
(doing Like it's "Dynomite")
Sharon: Olivia, you have a great voice. It's an unusual voice. I can only keep repeating what we've been saying all night. Only four people can go through.
Howie: I think you're very talented. I think it's more of a stage or coffee house act than big stage.
Howard: I think there was no emotional connection in this song. Tonight might be a big disappointment for you guys.
(Yeah. I don't know about a main stage in Vegas, but one of the many secondary stages, I can see them going great guns in. Sorry guys. You're good, but there's just too many better ones tonight. And to be honest, with the arrangement done tonight, I couldn't hear Eric's guitar very well.)

Commercials
Segment #9

Lyndsey Norton (Solo Dancer)
Howie: It's undescribable. What Turf is to street, you are to classical. There's so many more than four. I don't know if you'll make it. You have to vote, America!
Howard: I'm trying to handicap this thing. And here you are... so terrific on such a night. Job well done.
Sharon: Everything about you is so lovely. I can't even put it into words. Every time I see you perform, I love you a little more. You should be representing America in the Olympics this year. You are extremely special, extremely talented.
(It's a tough night, and on almost any other night, she might have made it. But I don't think she will tonight. We'll see.)

Howard: You are a madman. You did not drop the ball tonight. Very few things make me laugh that hard. You either love it or you hate it. You heard the crowd cheering. I love it. Good for you. Job well done.
Sharon: Are your dangly bits throbbing? (Yes). I don't know what to say. You are entertaining.
Howie: Talent is subjective. This could be a classic. You could do the "Nutcracker Suite". I love it. If I could vote, I would vote.
(Ok... The guy can take shots to the nuts. It's like America's Funniest Videos and Jackass all in one, and continuously - Think a montage of nutshots.) Tonight he added a cheesy story to it. I guess if you like Jackass, where they actually try to hurt themselves or each other, then maybe you'd like him. Personally, it's not my "thing". Pretty "ballsy" of him, though, to try to create an act this way.)

Segment #11

Olate Dogs (Dog Trick Act)
Standing Ovation by everyone
Sharon: What can I say. Listen to them. They are magnificent. I have never seen a dog act like this in my life.
Howie: They are truly amazing. We've seen dog acts through the years. I've never seen backflips. there's so much personality and athleticism with the dogs. The good news is you were great. The bad news is ANOTHER great act.
Howard: All of America knows how difficult this is and what a bond you have with these animals. America you've gotta vote. I can't wait to see how America votes. You deserve to get through.
(Wow... That was fast-paced, and something I haven't seen for decades. It brought me back to shows like The Ed Sullivan Show and other variety shows. Good luck guys!)

So the acts from tonight are:
David "The Bullet" Smith (Human Cannonball)
All That! (Cloggers)
Ulysses (Singer/Entertainer)
Joe Castillo (Sand Artist)
Sebastian "El Charro de Oro" (10yo Mariachi)
Eric Dittelman (Mind-reader)
William Close (Makes instruments and plays them)
Unity in Motion (dance group with
Eric and Olivia (Guitarist and Singer)
Lyndsey Norton (Solo Dancer)
Horse ("King of the Nutshot")
Olate Dogs (Dog Trick Act)

This is a TOUGH night. No one messed up like the last few weeks. And all but Horse were great. Yes, even Ulysses.

My four tonight: Joe Castillo, William Close, Unity in Motion, Olate Dogs

Right now, I see the Sand Artist, the Painter, Lightwire, William Close and maybe Olate Dogs in the finale. But things change. We'll see. They have the YouTube group and WildCards, so two shows before we start the final countdown.

Cya tomorrow for the results show. ;-)
